Issues your doctors can't seem to explain? Whether it's chronic fatigue or cancer, Dr. Beth McDougall has an explanation. In her groundbreaking new book, Dr. McDougall shares her passion for holistic health and what she calls your Pristine Blueprint. This Blueprint shapes how our physical form develops in relation to the Unified Field - a continuous field of infinite energy and information from which all matter and life emerges. Through real-world examples accompanied by lessons in physics, chemistry, biology, and spirituality, Dr. McDougall invites you into a deep understanding of how uncovering the essence of "you" can lead to profound health and wellbeing. How It Works Imagine the most incredible orchestra, containing all the instruments on the planet playing a unique, complex, and harmoniously balanced score that is the sound of you, and you alone. When your father's sperm meets your mother's egg, a flash of light and sound occurs, which informs the Unified Field that your life has been created. This imprints a three-dimensional Pristine Blueprint into the Unified Field, which channels the flow of life-force energy into your physical form. This Blueprint then becomes the template from which your physical form develops, and becomes an information set that orchestrates your complex physiology. In other words, it is the very sound of you. But as we go through life, we have all kinds of experiences that throw us out of alignment: the foods we eat, the toxins we are exposed to, the way we manage stress, our negative thoughts and unprocessed emotions, and even our unhealthy relationships. So what happens when we get out of alignment with our Blueprint? We experience entropy, aging, breakdown, and disease. Our degree of health-and even the rate of our aging-directly correlates to how well our physical body is in resonance with our Pristine Blueprint. The good news is that it is possible to re-align yourself with your Blueprint. Your Pristine Blueprint offers strategies developed through Dr. McDougall's years of experience working with patients as well as healing herself from Lyme disease. Throughout each chapter, she also provides explanations of the background science for the various approaches she recommends to bring yourself back into alignment with your unique Blueprint. With her perspective and tools, you can halt aging, reverse illness, and begin living a longer, healthier life.

Book excerpt: "Uncommon and refreshing. Moreover, Trefil is right." -Michael Ruse, The New York Times Book Review As a prizewinning theoretical physicist and bestselling author, James Trefil has long been the public's guide to a better understanding of the world. Now, in this provocative and engaging book, Trefil looks squarely at our environmental future and finds-contrary to popular wisdom-reason to celebrate. For too long, Trefil argues, humans have treated nature as something separate from themselves-pristine wilderness to be saved or material resources to be exploited. What we need instead is a scientific approach to the environment. In Human Nature, Trefil exposes the benefits of genetically modified species, uncovers vital facts about droughts and global warming, and shows why putting humans first is the best path ahead. By taking advantage of explosive advances in the sciences, we can fruitfully manage the planet, if we rise to the challenge. Human Nature promises to awaken a new state of environmentalism and our relationship to the planet-and is filled with optimism, rather than alarm.

Book excerpt: In the 1800s, the sun never set on the British Empire, and the pound sterling was the world's reserve currency. Today, it is America and the dollar. Tomorrow, it may well be China and the yuan. As late as 1900, Britain was the world's military and economic superpower-the largest creditor nation in the world. The next 50 years proved fatal to its global dominion. Two costly world wars and the economic strain of maintaining an empire caused Britain to borrow heavily from its largest emerging global competitor-the United States. By the mid-1950s, Great Britain was a debtor nation-no longer in control of its currency-and the United State was the largest creditor nation in the world, destined to dominate world affairs for the remainder of the century. Currently, the United States finds itself in a position eerily reminiscent to that of Great Britain a century ago. Undoubtedly, the U.S. is the world's superpower, both militarily and economically. Yet, like England before it, America is becoming increasingly indebted to its largest global competitor (China) and is fighting a costly war with no end in sight. America's economic and foreign policies are making China's rise as the world's leading superpower increasingly likely. This is not news to most Americans. Americans sense that the United States faces a series of challenges to its position as the world's lone superpower. The problems are easy to identify. They are economic: the risks associated with America's budget and trade deficits, its runaway entitlement programs and its aging population. They include military threats from Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups, energy and environmental problems. These challenges are easily spotted. They are even easier to demagogue (whether from the right or the left). Solutions, however, have been in short supply. The purpose of this book is to address the most pressing issues confronting the United States-including economic, foreign policy, environmental and energy issues-in one place. The unfolding economic crisis only serves to high-light the importance of an intelligently reasoned analysis and the urgent need for practical solutions we can implement immediately. Book jacket.

Book excerpt: In Africa Unchained , George Ayittey takes a controversial look at Africa's future and makes a number of daring suggestions. Looking at how Africa can modernize, build, and improve their indigenous institutions which have been castigated by African leaders as 'backward and primitive', Ayittey argues that Africa should build and expand upon these traditions of free markets and free trade. Asking why the poorest Africans haven't been able to prosper in the Twenty-first-century, Ayittey makes the answer obvious: their economic freedom was snatched from them. War and conflict replaced peace and the infrastructure crumbled. In a book that will be pondered over and argued about as much as his previous volumes, Ayittey looks at the possibilities for indigenous structures to revive a troubled continent.

Anyone who loves animals will love them even more after reading this wonderful collection of stories. Deborah DeMoss Smith knows just how to reconnect us with the magic, splendor, and awe of our animal kin through Sharon Callahan's intuitive experience." -Marc Bekoff, Professor of Biology, University of Colorado, Boulder, and coauthor of The Ten Trusts (with Jane Goodall) Jerry, a tabby cat distressed by a beloved family member's departure for college. Jupiter, a macaw parrot who yearned to live among his own kind. Rudy, a border collie whose grave illness did not stop him from keeping his profound promise to the young girl who loved him. All of these animals spoke with their human companions through the extraordinary gift of animal intuitive Sharon Callahan. Now award-winning journalist Deborah DeMoss Smith relates these and many other true, inspirational tales of the human and animal lives Callahan has touched. Reflections of the Heart illustrates how the sometimes puzzling behavior of animals often mirrors our own actions and feelings. These stirring accounts offer a window into the emotional, mental, and spiritual lives of our animal companions-and remarkable insight into the special bond between animals and people.

Book excerpt: Two people destined to be together, but to never see each other again, fight against the greatest odds in this powerful and moving fantasy novel by critically acclaimed author Roselle Lim. Exes Ward Dunbar and Camille Buhay thought they would never see each other again. They had broken up to pursue their dream jobs on opposite sides of the country—her to New York City, and him to Los Angeles. But years later, they unexpectedly reconnect in London, where they are interviewing for similar jobs. The spark they feel when they meet again is palpable—the attraction comes back like muscle memory, reminding them of what they had lost. When Ward and Camille discover they both got the job working opposing shifts, they vow to give their relationship another try. Ward starts the day shift and finds the immortal clientele unusual and dazzling. When he clocks out at the end of the day, he finds the door locked and himself trapped in the building. After a horrific first night shift contending with restless spirits and ghosts, Camille is also unable to escape. In their respective prisons, they discover that they’re able to talk to each other a few minutes before dawn. This fleeting encounter incites longing for each other, but their promise to be together feels impossible. Because they are caught in the middle of a war of the gods—and their choices will determine the outcome.

Book excerpt: This book defends a startling idea: that the age-old theological and philosophical problems of original sin and evil, long thought intractable, have already been solved. The solution has come from the very scientific discovery that many consider the most mortal threat to traditional religion: evolution. Daryl P. Domning explains in straightforward terms the workings of modern evolutionary theory, Darwinian natural selection, and how this has brought forth life and the human mind. He counters objections to Darwinism that are raised by some believers and emphasizes that the evolutionary process necessarily enforces selfish behavior on all living things. This account of both physical and moral evil is arguably more consistent with traditional Christian teachings than are the explanations given by most contemporary "evolutionary" theologians themselves. The prominent theologian, Monika K. Hellwig, dialogues with Daryl Domning throughout the book to present a balanced reappraisal of the doctrine of original sin from both a scientist's and theologian's perspective.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his first book, the former New York governor and current CNN cohost offers a manifesto on the economy and the public interest. As New York State Attorney General from 1998 to 2006, Eliot Spitzer successfully pursued corporate crime, including stock price inflation, securities fraud, and predatory lending practices. Drawing on those experiences, in this book Spitzer considers when and how the government should intervene in the workings of the market. The 2009 American bank bailout, he argues, was the wrong way: it understandably turned government intervention into a flashpoint for public disgust because it socialized risk, privatized benefit, and left standing institutions too big to fail, incompetent regulators, and deficient corporate governance. That's unfortunate, because good regulatory policy, he claims, can make markets and firms work efficiently, equitably, and in service of fundamental public values. Spitzer lays out the right reasons for government intervention in the market: to guarantee transparency, to overcome market failures, and to guard our core values against the market's unfair biases such as racism. With specific proposals to serve those ends—from improving corporate governance to making firms responsible for their own risky behavior—he offers a much-needed blueprint for the proper role of government in the market. Finally, taking account of regulatory changes since the crash of 2008, he suggests how to rebuild public trust in government so real change is possible. Responses to Spitzer by Sarah Binder, Andrew Gelman, and John Sides, Dean Baker, and Robert Johnson, raise issues of politics, ideology, and policy.

Book excerpt: THE BLUEPRINT - came from our readers. They asked us to share the "secret sauce" for how we were able to produce so much content (20 films, 16 books, two number-one Broadway shows, a popular magazine, and a cable network among other media investments). As we looked back over our work, we realized that the stories in the magazine, particularly the editor's notes, contained the secret sauce. This secret sauce guided our success as a company and showcased a path for our readers to live their best lives. This book is a collection of the raw editor's notes as published in SoulVision magazine from 2019 to 2022. These four years summarize the work of our team and my thoughts over the course of the four-year life of the magazine. Also included are select speeches and writings that I have shared over the years. These expressions chronicle my thinking from my early days as a young leader focused on finding my way here in the US to a wiser citizen of the world interested in the best for all of humanity. I hope this book inspires you as much as creating it has inspired me.
