Book Synopsis Are You Kidding Me? by : Lucy Morrison
Download or read book Are You Kidding Me? written by Lucy Morrison and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-02-13 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My book is about being diagnosed with breast cancer and all the wonderful games I got to play. It starts out with the mammogram and further testing and continues with surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. I was fortunate to have a less-invasive type of cancer and didnt need the kind of chemotherapy that makes your hair fall out, but I still had problems. I am a nurse, but I was unaware of most of the processes involved in the treatment of breast cancer. I did learn a lot about diagnosis, testing, and prognosis of different types of breast cancer. I also learned a lot about being the patient and how easy it is to get lost in the shuffle. The treatment has become routine for some of the caregivers, and it is easy to get treated like a disease and not a person. I wanted to share my experience to hopefully help others be able to fight for and demand the best treatment for themselves.

Then she met Jehoshaphat, an Old Testament character famous for sending a choir out to battle in front of his army. Jehoshaphat had faced a great multitude and won. Lois, too, was facing a "great multitude"—of cancer cells. The battle was on: God, Jehoshaphat and Lois against the enemy—breast cancer. This is the story of how they won!

Book excerpt: The imaginative, hilarious, and moving memoir of a woman coping with multiple diseases. At forty-three, Robyn Levy was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and breast cancer. With irreverent and at times mordant humor, Levy chronicles her early, mysterious symptoms of Parkinson's (a dragging left foot, a frozen left hand, and a crash into “downward dead dog” position), the devastating diagnosis, her discovery of two lumps in her breast, her mastectomy and oophorectomy, and her life since then dealing with her diverse disease portfolio. Levy is accompanied on her journey by a fantastic cast of characters, including her Cry Lady (who always makes appearances at inopportune times) and perky Dolores the Prosthesis, as well as her loyal dog and a convoy of health professionals, family members, friends, and neighbors. Both heartbreaking and hilarious, Most of Me offers a unique glimpse into a creative mind, an ailing body, and the restorative power of humor and fantasy.

Download or read book A Breast Cancer Alphabet written by Madhulika Sikka and published by Crown. This book was released on 2014-02-25 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A definitive and approachable guide to life during, and after, breast cancer The biggest risk factor for breast cancer is simply being a woman. Madhulika Sikka's A Breast Cancer Alphabet offers a new way to live with and plan past the hardest diagnosis that most women will ever receive: a personal, practical, and deeply informative look at the road from diagnosis to treatment and beyond. What Madhulika Sikka didn't foresee when initially diagnosed, and what this book brings to life so vividly, are the unexpected and minute challenges that make navigating the world of breast cancer all the trickier. A Breast Cancer Alphabet is an inspired reaction to what started as a personal predicament. This A-Z guide to living with breast cancer goes where so many fear to tread: sex (S is for Sex - really?), sentimentality (J is for Journey - it's a cliché we need to dispense with), hair (H is for Hair - yes, you can make a federal case of it) and work (Q is for Quitting - there'll be days when you feel like it). She draws an easy-to-follow, and quite memorable, map of her travels from breast cancer neophyte to seasoned veteran. As a prominent news executive, Madhulika had access to the most cutting edge data on the disease's reach and impact. At the same time, she craved the community of frank talk and personal insight that we rely on in life's toughest moments. This wonderfully inventive book navigates the world of science and story, bringing readers into Madhulika's mind and experience in a way that demystifies breast cancer and offers new hope for those living with it.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lumps under the armpit? Swelling that doesn’t go away? Unusual discharge from the nipples? Breast enlarged on one side or a change in the size or shape of the breast? Watch out – these are some of the symptoms of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting woman. According to the statistics from National Cancer Institute under the category “ever getting it,” one out of eight women will be at risk of developing breast cancer. What is alarming today is that those afflicted with breast cancer are getting younger and younger. This is a book to equip you with the necessary knowledge to say no to breast cancer before it afflicts you. Breast cancer is curable if detected in its early stage. Early detection is great but I would rather spend time and effort to seek ways to prevent it. The war against breast cancer is a winnable war. We just need to change tactics from seeking the “magic bullet” cure to aggressively pursuing prevention. Eighty to ninety percent of all breast cancer are the results of things we do to ourselves. The enemy is us. The health of your breast is in your hands. It is your responsibility and yours alone to take steps now to avoid losing your breast to cancer.
