Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was raised to believe that there was a God and that He was a personal being. As a child, you don’t really question what your parents tell you. If they say there is a jolly, three-hundred-pound man who delivers all the Christmas toys in one night on the backs of flying reindeer with one red headlight, you believe them. When I reached adolescence, however, I felt compelled to question everything. I challenged the picture of God that emerged from the instructions given by my parents, teachers, and pastors. And these questions weren’t all of the trivial type, such as, “Can God create a rock so heavy that He can’t lift it?” Nope, they were: “Why do bad things happen to good people? Does everything happen for a reason, and according to God’s will? Everything? Including all the bad stuff?” Then there were the highly polarizing views that never appeared to be questioned, such as, “Trust, love, worship, and serve God, or else He’ll send you to hell.” Views like that were terrifying. If God is supposed to be our caring and loving Father, how could He burn to death His disobedient children? I didn’t think the worst parent on earth would do something that ghastly. This picture was beyond toxic and left me in state of fear. The fear of God made me feel small and worthless and that my only value to Him was worship and obedience. I’m sorry to say, but God seemed like a big bully, and pushing me around didn’t win over my heart. Sure, pushing one another down in a demonstration of strength was how my classmate Max and I became best friends in third grade, but I wasn’t in third grade anymore! Even when I was told that God loved me, and because of that love sent His Son to earth to save us all, it still sounded fearsome and gruesome. Did God have to torture His Son on a cross, otherwise He couldn’t accept me for who I am? Why would God have to do that if He’s the most powerful being in the universe? If He wanted to save us from the “pitchfork guy,” then He should rescue us with His superpowers instead of some bloody, seemingly orchestrated, sacrificial ritual. At the heart of all my questions, there was essentially just one question I was asking: Do I matter to God, or is it only what I do for Him that matters? To think that our service to Him is our only value, places us as nothing more than servants, or even worse—slaves. Yet I was assured as an adolescent that God wanted to be friends. He wanted to be my best friend, in fact. But how many friends do you have who would kill you if you weren’t their friend? Zero! You’d call the cops if that scenario were ever presented to you. However, we can’t call law enforcement on God. He is the law! And if you don’t obey His law, you get a divinely enforced death sentence. Thanks . . . friend? In the end, it left me stuck. How do you tell someone who can detonate you, “Thanks, but no thanks”? I eventually arrived at the conclusion that communicated exactly what I was reaching for: If God wants to truly be my friend, then He should be more friendly. Worth Every Drop is a journey of faith—discovering a God who is consistent, friendly, and trustworthy. It is a deep dive into the Bible to make sense of who God is, and who we truly are to Him. Whether you are a boomer or a millennial, agnostic or a believer, this book is for you.

Book excerpt: Two young princes on opposite sides of a war must decide between loyalty and love in this galaxy-shaking finale of the Bloodright Trilogy. “Skrutskie handily sticks the landing. Series fans are sure to be pleased.”—Publishers Weekly Gal and Ettian have never been farther apart. Once, they were roommates and best friends, each suffocating under a secret of galactic consequence. When Gal’s came to light—that he was heir to the Umber Empire and all of its brutal conquest—the two were forced to flee their military academy, fall in with a brewing rebellion to reclaim the Archon Empire from Umber’s grasp, and face their long-held feelings for each other. Then the rebellion discovered Gal’s identity and to save his life, Ettian had no choice but to unveil his own secret: that he was the long-lost heir to the Archon throne. With Gal as a political prisoner, Ettian began the fight to restore his own empire—and to open Gal’s eyes to the possibility of a galaxy reclaimed from Umber’s greed. But just when Gal was starting to come around, a team of Umber operatives rescued him from Archon’s clutches and dragged him home to take up his crown. Now, separated for the first time and in full command of the might of their respective forces, the star-crossed rulers find themselves truly at odds. And with the war reaching a tipping point, the time has finally come for Gal and Ettian to confront what they owe their empires, their friends, and each other if they’re ever to forge a universe where the two of them can be together.

Book excerpt: Lydia North turned visions into homes and businesses. Her company, North Enterprises, built to last, to be kind to the environment and to lift an area into the future while still paying homage to the past. Archer Channing and Alex Weston had a vision for the agricultural community of Live Oak. Now it was her vision too. This time she wasn’t just building, but investing financially in the future. Along comes Max Greene, ready and willing to buy into the concept that Archer and Alex have for Live Oak’s step into the twenty-first century. He’s in the mood for a change and decides he wants to be more than a behind the scenes money man. He wants to get his hands dirty. It has been years since he had done manual labor but a man doesn’t forget his roots. But first, he has to convince a tiny female dynamo with inky black hair and a body to send even a dead man’s blood pressure skyrocketing that he could get the job done. He solves the first problem but the second is a bit more difficult. How did he convince a woman who needed no man to protect and support her that he wanted to walk beside her, not have her walk behind him? Lydia recognized a challenge when Max stared her in the face. She had cut her teeth on the males of the species and thought she knew all the moves. Max showed her more about herself than she thought existed. From the first, he accepted the woman she was, the woman who rode a motorcycle to unwind, who lived in a motorhome instead of a house and climbed onto heavy construction equipment as though she had been born an excavator. When Lydia set a goal, a hurricane couldn’t stop her. When Max built his success, a bomb didn’t destroy him. Are their differences greater than their strengths?

Book excerpt: From slice-of-life vignettes to narratives with suspense, the short stories in author David Lucks fiction collection stem from his observations of life around him. After moving from an isolated mountain cabin to a home near Sloans Lake in Denver, Colorado, Luck was intrigued by the activity surrounding the lake. Luck used these situations as fodder for this book. Scraps first story, Angelica and Carlos, introduces the young Angelica as she waits for her son to be returned from a weekend visit with his father, Carlos. When Carlos and Roberto are more than an hour late, Angelica wonders if she will ever see her son again. In Balby, England, an American couple, married for forty-one years, travel to England for the first time and become the unwitting targets of a beautiful thief. Going Postal tells the tale of Maggie, a homeless woman; Jasper, a retired gentleman who has taken up in-line skating; and Merna, a cantankerous mail carrier; and how their lives intersect in an unusual way. Infused with sensory images woven with beautiful language, the stories in the collection give a glimpse into situations, people, and places with which we can all identify.

Book excerpt: Grace Triumphs over Law - The Scripture that Changed My Life is the story of one mans journey from living under the law to living under grace, from condemnation to salvation, and from darkness to light. While studying the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit brought clear understanding of the falsehood of his religion and the real truths found in Gods Holy Word. We will examine hundreds of scriptural references and quotations to uncover the distinction between the old and new covenants (law and grace), demonstrating the promises and righteousness now available to all Christians through Jesus Christ our Lord. Examples from the law and its rituals are examined, explained, and shown to be predecessors to the new covenant of love, grace, and mercy. You will be carried along this journey with him as we explore how good and gracious our God truly is, as demonstrated by the life, death, burial, resurrection, ascension, and teachings of God the Son. Gods free gift of Christs completed work has opened to us a better covenant with better promises, and the gift of the Holy Spirit to all who believe. This is a handbook and study guide, for old and new Christians alike, concentrating on the new life found in Jesus, through His eternal sacrifice, which brought about the wonders of the new covenant between God and His saints.

Wrapped in red silk and hidden beneath a pile of old photos is a beautiful samurai sword in its scabbard. When the boy confronts his father with his discovery, he soon learns the tragic story behind its acquisition and its villainous former owner. His fathers tale of one mans ultimate devotion to the woman he loves and the sacrifices he was willing to make in her name begins to unfold, changing the boy forever. Nate Walker had lived a lonely existence, tormented for much of his young life by the nightmares of an abusive childhood and his bouts with his personal demons. But when Sarah Ross entered his life by chance and fell in love with him, his life suddenly took on a whole new meaning. A lifetime of happiness no longer seemed an unattainable dream. Little did Nate know, however, that a lone bullet fired on a warm summer night in Las Vegas would drastically alter his life and threaten to destroy his future with the woman he loves more than life itself. The shadows from her past would catch up to them in the worst way possible. After burying his older brother, Mark ODane, Sarahs ex-fianc and the youngest son of a casino magnate, launches a desperate ploy to win her back. Despite his associates dire warnings, ODane turns to his fathers sinister chief enforcer, Dante Medina, to deliver Sarah an invitation to his party in Las Vegas, an invitation he knows she would not dare refuse. When the sadistic killer arrives in town, she has no choice but to accept his summons in fear of a violent reprisal against Nate and his loved ones. After setting in motion a disastrous last-minute attempt to see Sarah before her departure, Nate and his friends, Mitch Green and Roy Tucker, launch a frantic plan of their own to find her and, at the same time, protect their loved ones at home from retaliation. Broken and afraid, Nate and Sarah find their way back to each other, but are burdened with the haunting knowledge that the true horror Dante threatened to unleash is only just beginning. Volume I comes to a tumultuous end, but the tale of the samurai sword is only halfway complete. The epic love story concludes in volume II.

Book excerpt: How is the God of heaven showing Himself to the world? How has He shown Himself to you? Sweet Revelation is one womans revelation story, a narrative memoir written to people in all walks of life. Author Davida Blanton describes times throughout her life when God showed Himself real to her. In her darkest moments of fear, disappointment, and grief, Gods arm brought comfort to Davida and healed her brokenness, wrapping her in truth, embracing her in love, protecting her in light. The word revelation means an unveiling. When something is unveiled before our eyes, it is made visible. When eternal things are unveiled before us, allowing us to see in the spiritual realm, our lives are affected in profound ways. We are changed. This happens differently for each person, because every man and woman has unique needs and experiences. This book tells how its happened for one woman and invites you to consider how its happened in your own life. Jesus said, The person who has my commands and keeps them really loves me; and whoever really loves me...I will love him and will show Myself to him. I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him. (John 14:21 AMP) Revelation of the sweetest kind. I anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. -Words of Christ recorded in Revelation 3:18 (NKJV)
