Characterized by their wideband, impulse-like autocorrelation and low cross-correlation properties, chaotic signals are useful spread-spectrum signals for carrying digital information. Spectrum spreading has become one of the most popular modulation techniques for high-speed wireless communications. It makes use of signals of very wide bandwidth to carry information at relatively low data rates, and possesses advantages such as low probability of interception, resistance to jamming, multiple-access capability and mitigation to multipath effect, which are particularly important in a wireless scenario. In addition to enjoying the aforementioned benefits, chaotic signals can be generated using simple circuitries, thus lowering the cost of transceivers. Early study of chaos-based communication systems was focused on a single-user case. In the past few years, more effort has been put on investigating systems with multiple-access capability, which is a key feature of spread-spectrum communication systems. Digital Communications with Chaos presents a detailed study of some multiple-access schemes used for chaos-based communications, and evaluates their performance. After tracing May ́s family history up to the point at which her near-death experience takes place, the book then deals with May ́s struggles to come to terms with the near-death experience in her own life. The main goal of the book is to discover the broader perspective; to find meaning in the near-death experience with regard to spiritual beliefs, religious practices, other paranormal phenomena, and life in general. This focus is made more poignant by the fact that May passed away shortly after this book was completed. Together, May Eulitt and Stephen Hoyer made up a writing team well qualified to tell this story. Because of May ́s family background and the spiritual practices in which she was trained, she was able to provide a unique perspective on the near-death experience. In addition, Stephen is a professional psychologist and a knowledgeable expert on near-death experiences and other paranormal phenomena, such as after-death communication and energy medicine. He has taught workshops on near-death experiences, he has consulted with other experts in the field, and for several years he helped May not only with the writing of the book, but also with the processing of the experience itself. The authors regarded this as a very symbiotic process in which they both grew and benefited a great deal. The book is an attempt to share the essence of that experience with a wider public.

Since translinear filters are fundamentally large-signal linear, they are capable of realizing a large dynamic range in combination with excellent tunability characteristics. Large-signal linearity is achieved by exploiting the accurate exponential behavior of the bipolar transistor or the subthreshold MOS transistor. A generalization of the dynamic translinear principle exploiting the square law behavior of the MOS transistor is theoretically possible, but not practically relevant. Translinear and log-domain filters are based on the dynamic translinear principle, a generalization of the conventional (static) translinear principle. Besides their application for linear filters, dynamic translinear circuits can also be used for the realization of non-linear dynamic functions, such as oscillators, RMS-DC converters and phase-locked loops. Dynamic Translinear and Log-Domain Circuits: Analysis and Synthesis covers both the analysis and synthesis of translinear circuits. The theory is presented using one unifying framework for both static and dynamic translinear networks, which is based on a current-mode approach. General analysis methods are presented, including the large-signal and non-stationary analysis of noise. A well-structured synthesis method is described greatly enhancing the designability of log-domain and translinear circuits. Comparisons are made with respect to alternative analysis and synthesis methods presented in the literature. The theory is illustrated and verified by various examples and realizations.
