Download or read book T&T Clark Handbook of Political Theology written by Rubén Rosario Rodríguez and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2019-10-03 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The T&T Clark Handbook of Political Theology is a comprehensive reference resource informed by serious theological scholarship in the three Abrahamic traditions. The engaging and original contributions within this collection represent the epitome of contemporary scholarship in theology, religion, philosophy, history, law, and political science, from leading scholars in their area of specialization. Comprised of five sections that illuminate the rise and relevance of political theology, this handbook begins with the birth of contemporary “political theology,” and is followed by discussions of historical resources and past examples of interaction between theology and politics from all three Abrahamic traditions. The third section surveys the leading figures and movements that have had an impact on the discipline of political theology in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries; and the contributors then build on previously discussed historical resources and methods to engage with contemporary issues and challenges, emphasizing interreligious dialogue, even while addressing concerns of relevance to a particular faith tradition. The volume concludes with three essays that look at the future of political theology from the perspective of each Abrahamic religion. Complete with select bibliographies for each topic, this companion features the most current overview of political theology that will reach a broader, global audience of students and scholars

Book Synopsis Preaching to a Multi-generational Assembly by : Andrew-Carl Wisdom
Download or read book Preaching to a Multi-generational Assembly written by Andrew-Carl Wisdom and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the acceleration of technological change, new and distinct generations are created faster than before. Generational boundaries become more fluid. Multiple age groups have different generational mindsets, distinct worldviews, and varied spiritual needs. How, then, do preachers speak to congregations that comprise four to five separate generations? Preaching to a Multi-generational Assembly addresses how to effectively and credibly preach to all generations at the same time. In Preaching to a Multi-generational Assembly Andrew Cal Wisdom offers a credible, new homiletic model to make Catholic preaching more exciting, accessible, and effective for both the assembly and preacher by making it more generationally relevant. He reflects upon the current state of preaching through Catholic and Protestant voices. He argues from communication theory that generation is a subculture like ethnicity and race and should be seriously considered in homiletic preparation. He applies contemporary marketing segmentation theory to preaching in proposing a qualified generational segmentation" of the Sunday assembly. Finally, he combines both theories to demonstrate both the opportunity and viability of intergenerational preaching in a Catholic context. Chapters are *Why Effective Preaching Is a Priority: The Problem, - *The Genesis of the Catholic Homily, - *Intergenerational Preaching as a Sacred Dance Between Culture, Language, and Meaning, - *What the Preacher Can Learn from the Marketer, - *The Catholic Sacramental Imagination: A Generational Bridge, - *Does It Work? The Mechanics of Intergenerational Preaching, - and *So What. - Includes tales, graphs, and a conclusion with practical suggestions on how to become an effective and credible intergenerational preacher.
Book Synopsis Inside the Soul of a New Generation by : Tim Celek
Download or read book Inside the Soul of a New Generation written by Tim Celek and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 1996 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Generation X. Busters. The Lost Generation. The Fatherless Generation. These are the catchphrases used to describe that elusive and mysterious generation of 46 million Americans born between 1965 and 1980. More than that, these are our children, our neighbors, our friends, and fellow employees. Tim Celek and Deiter Zander have learned through years of experience that to win this generation of young people, you have to fight harder for credibility, and you have to love harder to overcome their pasts. But they have also found that reaching them is well worth the effort. Inside the Soul of a New Generation offers a fascinating, inside look at the unique forces that shape this misunderstood generation and shows how pastors, parents, and Baby Boomers of every stripe can minister to their spiritual needs. From practical ways to reach out to Busters and build powerful, Buster-friendly churches, to creating a vital community and empowering Busters for leadership, Celek and Zander show that this generation is not only reachable, but has the potential to effect positive changes both in the church and in the world.

Book Synopsis The Gospel according to Mark by : Camille Focant
Download or read book The Gospel according to Mark written by Camille Focant and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2012-07-06 with total page 756 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world to which the Gospel of Mark introduces its reader is a world of conflicts and suspense, enigmas and secrets, questions and overturning of evidence, irony and surprise. Its principal actor, Jesus, is perplexing in the extreme. He is evidently so for the religious authorities who oppose him, but also for his disciples, who shift from incomprehension to opposition and flight. Questions of meaning, life and death, good and evil are continually broached. This narrative is a subtle invitation to enter into a new world, that of the coming Reign of God, in which the first are last and whoever wants to save his life must lose it. This commentary on the Gospel of Mark has been enthusiastically reviewed in the French edition as one of the best current commentaries on Mark. As a narrative critical commentary, it favors an interpretation of the Gospel that tries to grasp the dynamic of the text taken as a whole. Even if the technical vocabulary of narrative analysis is not used, and the main results of the historical-critical criticism, particularly those of redaction criticism, are not neglected, as the notes will reveal, it is narrative criticism that guides the proceedings.
