The movement started in 2010 with the publication of the book "Gemeinwohl-Ökonomie" (Economy for the Common Good) by Christian Felber and the presentation of a first version of the common good balance sheet by a group of Austrian entrepreneurs. Since then, the movement has spread from the German-speaking countries to other countries, especially in Europe and Latin America.
