This book was released on 1987-01-01 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The continuation of global poverty is inextricably entwined with the fundamental philosophy of the market economy. It is driven by the individual's neverending desire for “profit”, leading to a critically imbalanced distribution of resources. As an entrepreneurial initiative, this book advocates a shift in the responsibility for relief of poverty away from the government to the private sector, and in particular to corporate entities. The concept of the “residual” is used as the cornerstone of business operations and wealth distribution. Corporate decision-makers, while making proprietary decisions for resources allocation, must assume stewardship responsibility and be accountable not just to financial investors but to all contributors of the corporate entity.
Book Synopsis Quantum Dynamics And Information - Proceedings Of The 46th Karpacz Winter School Of Theoretical Physics by : Robert Olkiewicz
Download or read book Quantum Dynamics And Information - Proceedings Of The 46th Karpacz Winter School Of Theoretical Physics written by Robert Olkiewicz and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010-10-19 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The central theme of this lecture collection is quantum dynamics, regarded mostly as the dynamics of entanglement and that of decoherence phenomena. Both these concepts appear to refer to the behavior of surprisingly fragile features of quantum systems supposed to model quantum memories and to implement quantum date processing routines. This collection may serve as an essential resource for those interested in both theoretical description and practical applications of fundamentals of quantum mechanics.

This book was released on 2005-08-22 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A remarkable personal and professional chronicle by one of today's leading physicists, this is a collection of Chen Ning Yang's personally selected papers supplemented by his insightful commentaries. Including previously unpublished or hard-to-find works, this volume contains Yang's important papers on statistical physics, nuclear forces, and particle physics. Among them are his seminal work with T D Lee on the nonconservation of parity, for which they won the Nobel Prize, and his work with R L Mills, which led to modern gauge theories with their exciting prospects for the broad unification of field theories. The commentaries were written especially for this volume and provide a fascinating account of Yang's development as a physicist as well as a look at many important physicists of the 20th century. They trace the development of Yang's interests and ideas from his graduate school days to the present, showing how he worked with his colleagues and how their physics came into being.Together, the papers and commentaries in this unique collection comprise a powerful personal statement, shedding light on both the intellectual development of a great physicist and on the nature of scientific inquiry.

Book Synopsis Towards Quantum Gravity by : Jerzy Kowalski-Glikman
Download or read book Towards Quantum Gravity written by Jerzy Kowalski-Glikman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-01-11 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to give graduate students an overview of quantum gravity but it also covers related topics from astrophysics. Some well-written contributions can serve as an introduction into basic conceptual concepts like time in quantum gravity or the emergence of a classical world from quantum cosmology. This makes the volume attractive to philosophers of science, too. Other topics are black holes, gravitational waves and non-commutative extensions of physical theories.
Book Synopsis Magnetism in Metals and Metallic Compounds by : Jan Lapuszanski
Download or read book Magnetism in Metals and Metallic Compounds written by Jan Lapuszanski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 623 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Proceedings presented here contain the notes of lectures delivered during the Eleventh Winter School of Theoretical Physics, held at Karpacz, Poland, February 19 - March 4, 1974. The School was primarily devoted to new concepts in the theory of magnetism in metals, alloys, and metallic compounds, but, as can be seen from the table of contents of the book, other topics of the theory of magnetism were also discussed in the course of the lec tures. The organizers agreed to such a broadening of the scope in order to satisfy particular requests from the Polish participants for whose benefit the School was organized. These "local" interests are clearly reflected in the Proceedings and are responsible for a certain inhomogeneity of the topics selected for presentation. Nevertheless, we have a strong hope that these materials will be interesting to many physicists, not only in Poland, for the subjects discussed here are important not only on the local level, as the lectures contain quite fresh, unpublished results or excellent up to-date reviews. The first part of the volume contains lectures directly cor responding to the title of the School, i.e., selected topics of the theory of metallic magnetism, with slight bias toward rare earth and actinide metals and their compounds. In the second half we have collected the topics more loosely connected with the main stream, such as statistical and thermodynamic aspects of various models, spin-phonon interaction, and others.
