Book excerpt: Have you or your family members given the Enemy "legal access" to your life? Billy Graham one wrote, "the wars among nations on earth are mere popgun affairs compared to the fierceness of battle in the spiritual unseen world." A battle in which mankind is both the pawns--and the prize. And, emotions are one of the devil's favorite tools to engage us in this battle. Do you struggle with poor self-image or low self-worth? Have you held onto grudges or resentments for extended periods of time? When you look into your past, can you recall physical abuse, mental abuse, sexual abuse, fears and phobias, or repeated generational issues? Have you, your parents, or your grandparents ever dabbled in the Occult, witchcraft, Satanism, New Ageism, drug use, Voodoo, Eastern religions, or solicited contact with any demonic entity? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions . . . then you may have given the devil "legal access" to your life. Crack open In the Devil's Toolbox and discover . . . * The spiritual entities we battle, and the weapons of this warfare * The hidden game plans of Satan and his host of demons * The three heavens referred to in Scripture--two of them are battle zones * The Laws of the Spiritual Realm . . . not knowing them leaves you completely exposed to the Enemy * What conduct can give the devil "legal access" to your life * How your emotions can become hiding places for demons * The three different levels of spiritual warfare, and the characteristics of each * Steps to determine if you are suffering from a demonic stronghold or bondage * The mighty weapons of warfare God gives us to demolish Satan's assaults * Instruction for breaking free of Satan's grasp and experiencing true freedom in Christ The devil's deepest desire is to keep you from accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. If he fails at this, he attempts to trap you into his strongholds and bondages to destroy your witness for Christ, and lead to your demise. Receive instruction for breaking free from the devil's hold on your life, so you can experience true freedom in Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hiding in a lake under lily pads after fleeing U.S. soldiers, a Dakota woman was given a vision over the course of four days instructing her to build a large drum and teaching her the songs that would bring peace and end the killing of her people. From the Dakota, the "big drum" spread throughout the Algonquian-speaking tribes to the Ojibwe, becoming the centerpiece of their religious ceremonies. This edition of "The Ojibwe Dance Drum, "originally created through the collaboration of Ojibwe drum maker and singer William Bineshii Baker Sr. and folklorist Thomas Vennum, has a new introduction by history professor Rick St. Germaine that discusses the research behind this book and updates readers on the recent history of the Ojibwe Drum Dance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revising the standard narrative of European-Indian relations in America, Juliana Barr reconstructs a world in which Indians were the dominant power and Europeans were the ones forced to accommodate, resist, and persevere. She demonstrates that between the 1690s and 1780s, Indian peoples including Caddos, Apaches, Payayas, Karankawas, Wichitas, and Comanches formed relationships with Spaniards in Texas that refuted European claims of imperial control. Barr argues that Indians not only retained control over their territories but also imposed control over Spaniards. Instead of being defined in racial terms, as was often the case with European constructions of power, diplomatic relations between the Indians and Spaniards in the region were dictated by Indian expressions of power, grounded in gendered terms of kinship. By examining six realms of encounter--first contact, settlement and intermarriage, mission life, warfare, diplomacy, and captivity--Barr shows that native categories of gender provided the political structure of Indian-Spanish relations by defining people's identity, status, and obligations vis-a-vis others. Because native systems of kin-based social and political order predominated, argues Barr, Indian concepts of gender cut across European perceptions of racial difference.

Book excerpt: With more kids at home now . . . here is a book for parents, family members and friends who want to maximize this time for a deeper learning experience for their children and themselves. Free Range Learning will encourage and excite those who want their children to reap important benefits from this period of “sheltering in place,” learning at home. This is a book for anyone simply wanting some fresh ideas at this time, or those who wonder if a commitment to ongoing homeschooling might actually result in longer term benefits! The material in this book is backed by scientific and educational studies, along with the testimonies of scores of parents and kids from around the world. The work here is applicable for young people from pre-school through high school. Studies indicate that adults who were homeschooled are: * More likely to vote, volunteer and be involved in their communities than graduates of conventional schools. * Read more books than average. * More likely to have taken college level courses than the population as a whole. * Tend to be independent and self-reliant. Children are naturally “free range” learners. They build knowledge and skills naturally, within the full spectrum of their daily lives, while observing, exploring and pursuing their interests. This book guides any parent or educator in assisting that process.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, many people have escaped to nature either permanently or temporarily to rest and recharge. Richard L. Proenneke, a modern-day Henry David Thoreau, is no exception. Proenneke built a cabin in Twin Lakes, Alaska in 1968 and began thirty years of personal growth, which he spent growing more connected to the wilderness in which he lived. This guide through Proenneke’s memories follows the journey that began with One Man’s Wilderness, which contains some of Proenneke’s journals. It continues the story and reflections of this mountain man and his time in Alaska. The editor, John Branson, was a longtime friend of Proenneke’s and a park historian. He takes care that Proenneke’s journals from 1974-1980 are kept exactly as the author wrote them. Branson’s footnotes give a background and a new understanding to the reader without detracting from Proenneke’s style. Anyone with an interest in conservation and genuine wilderness narratives will surely enjoy and treasure this book.

Book excerpt: Paul Klee was endowed with a rich and many-sided personality that was continually spilling over into forms of expression other than his painting and that made him one of the most extraordinary phenomena of modern European art. These abilities have left their record in the four intimate Diaries in which he faithfully recorded the events of his inner and outer life from his nineteenth to his fortieth year. Here, together with recollections of his childhood in Bern, his relations with his family and such friends as Kandinsky, Marc, Macke, and many others, his observations on nature and people, his trips to Italy and Tunisia, and his military service, the reader will find Klee's crucial experience with literature and music, as well as many of his essential ideas about his own artistic technique and the creative process.
