The story is about a small frog that has a life long dream to fly like the birds and insects around him. He spends his short life trying to achieve that goal. He does actually accomplish the goal but one must read the story to find the solution. The story teaches many virtues such as self-discipline, compassion, responsibility, work, courage, and faith. The reader will be able to follow Willie through his life and recognize the many virtues that the tiny frog possesses. This story also teaches children that we can reach life's goals, if we never give up trying. Willie The Frog Learns To Fly contains the translations of tracks, which are really messages, made by the little animals. The "Frog Tracks Translated" are expressions of wisdom, humor, and knowledge that are sent to us by the footprints that the animals leave in the sand. Everyone, children and adults will enjoy the translations of the messages left to us humans by these tiny animals. Other Children's Books by Dean W. Horton-Fifteen Year Old Pioneer Lad In 1600 is a story interwoven with many historical and interesting events that happened in the years 1660-1662 in America. The entries in his journals give the readers an insight into the lives of young people during the times when our nation was being developed. The trials and tribulations of any young person during this period of our history were enormous. They had to take on adult responsibilities at an age that our youth of today are still just anticipating their adulthood.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One can read these ancient minutes, some quite informal and sprinkled with legal terms of that day. All of the original notes were written in long hand and each writer put his personality into the shapes of letters, spelling, and use of English grammar. Names of citizens were often spelled by sound, or the way the person himself chose to spell his name, not necessarily correct. When transcribing these documents, I used the original spellings from the handwritten transcripts. Some of the additions of financial reports are not correct; I cannot explain that, unless some items were omitted. In addition to the age of the hundred year old papers, some were damaged by a hundred year flood in 1979 that left the pages ragged and crumbly. I have tried to indicate with an author's note those damages. In all but a few cases, no facts or stories have been lost.

In this revised and updated edition of Of Mice and Magic, Leonard Maltin not only recreates this whole glorious era from the silent days through the Hollywood golden age to Spielberg’s An American Tail, he traces the evolution of the art of animation and vividly portrays the key creative talents and their studios. This definitive history of American animated cartoons also brings Maltin’s many fans up to date on the work being done today at the Walt Disney and Warner Bros. studios, and other developments in the world of animation. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is about change, but for Francene, change was almost insuperable. After the loss of her best friend, her mother, Francene struggled to find purpose and direction. The thoughts of her difficulties in school and her inability to read at her grade level were a continual embarrassment only offset by certain skill sets. The constant in Francene's life was change. Being alone was temporary. A glistening pearl and a small displaced boy would soon offer camaraderie, adventure, and mysteries of the past. When prospects of a frog hunt are preceded by legendary tales of Miguel Vasquez the glassblower and the absence of Francene's father, the wheels are set in motion for an adventure.Inspiration strikes when Francene inadvertently finds the Vasquez treasure glowing in the mud of Boggs Pond. When frogs talk, something has gone astray, especially when the specter of the "Most Serene Highness" "Captain General" Santa Anna appears. He is angry. The week of San Jacinto Day in the classroom is truly a learning experience. Celebrating Texas independence from Mexico at the Battle of San Jacinto was not Santa Anna's shining moment. He was not impervious to the Texans' heated vengeance and shouts of "Remember the alamo. Remember Goliad."What do a displaced boy, a mussel fairy, a glassblower, a cook, a kidnapped explorer, and a scientist have in common? Rosita's Wrath--an epic plan with an assist from the specter of Santa Anna. After a purported, phenomenal Saint Elmo's fire guides the Vasquez treasure to the depths of the Gulf via an electrical storm, the treasure resurfaces twice. When "whispers from the wind" reach the parrot woman, the epic plan and "the day of the animals" begin marking the end of a "well-known secret"--sort of.

Book excerpt: After discovering a collection of letters written by his father, who he thought was dead, Abel Shifflett decides to run away—accompanied by Willie, his adult friend who is mentally disabled but extremely protective of him. But their journey is ill-fated from the start. Will Abel find the home—and father—he's always longed for? All Abel wants is a little bit of magic in his life. Enough money so his mom doesn’t cry at night. Healing for his broken body. And maybe a few answers about his past. When Abel discovers letters to him from the father he believed dead, he wonders if magic has come to the hills of Mattingly, Virginia, after all. But not everything is as it seems. With a lot of questions and a little bit of hope, Abel decides to run away to find the truth. But danger follows him from the moment he jumps his first boxcar, forcing Abel to rely on his simpleminded friend Willie—a man wanted for murder who knows more about truth than most—and a beautiful young woman they met on the train. From Appalachia to the Tennessee wilds and through the Carolina mountains, the name of a single small town beckons: Fairhope. That is where Abel believes his magic lays. But will it be the sort that will bring a broken boy healing? And is it the magic that will one day lead him home? An achingly perfect tale of love, friendship and faith Includes discussion questions for book clubs Other books by Billy Coffey: Snow Day, Paper Angels, The Devil Walks in Mattingly, and In the Heart of the Dark Wood

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the first decade of the twenty-first century, Broadway was notable for old-fashioned, feel-good shows (Hairspray, Jersey Boys), a number of family-friendly musicals (Little Women, Mary Poppins), plenty of revivals (Follies, Oklahoma!, Wonderful Town), a couple of off-the-wall hits (Avenue Q, Urinetown), several gargantuan flops (Dance of the Vampires, Lestat), and a few serious productions that garnered critical acclaim (The Light in the Piazza, Next to Normal). Unlike earlier decades which were dominated by specific composers, by a new form of musical theatre, or by numerous British imports, the decade is perhaps most notable for the rise of shows which poked fun at the musical comedy form, such as The Producers and Spamalot. In The Complete Book of 2000s Broadway Musicals, Dan Dietz examines in detail every musical that opened on Broadway from 2000 through the end of 2009. This book discusses the era’s major successes, notorious failures, and musicals that closed during their pre-Broadway tryouts. In addition to including every hit and flop that debuted during the decade, this book highlights revivals and personal-appearance revues with such performers as Patti LuPone, Chita Rivera, and Martin Short. Each entry contains the following information: Plot summary Cast members Names of all important personnel, including writers, composers, directors, choreographers, producers, and musical directors Opening and closing dates Number of performances Critical commentary Musical numbers and the performers who introduced the songs Production data, including information about tryouts Source material Tony awards and nominations Details about London and other foreign productions Besides separate entries for each production, the book offers numerous appendixes, including a discography, filmography, and published scripts, as well as lists of black-themed shows and Jewish-themed productions. This comprehensive book contains a wealth of information and provides a comprehensive view of each show. The Complete Book of 2000s Broadway Musicals will be of use to scholars, historians, and casual fans of one of the greatest decades in musical theatre history.

Book excerpt: Dear George: Insights into Healing Relationships is a book of hope and possibilities. Ive been on a healing journey most of my life. The stories you are about to read are based on my own complicated journey and my years in private practice. Each chapter starts with "a letter to George," a psychotherapist. The letters describe the journey of George and me custom designing a therapeutic relationship. They are my effort to move beyond my past patterns of distrust for the psychotherapeutic system. We co-create something new that drastically reduces the chronic pain Ive been living with for forty years. All the chapters have three perspectives: mine with George, a novices experiencemy daughters journey healing cancerand the points of view of veterans of the system. These people choose to work with me. They have been in the system for a long time and often have more than one diagnosis. They are system-weary and system-wise. In my life and practice, I witness transformative shifts, which produce amazing results whether people are dealing with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, cancer, or mental illness. We use less than 10 percent of our brain capacity, and we mostly operate from unconscious programming or habit. This is why we keep doing what we do, even though it may not work. One way to form new connections in the brain is to open ourselves to possibilities through reading about people who experience these kinds of changes. Is your unconscious programming taking over? Are you struggling to overcome it? Dear George inspires hope, challenges conventional ideas and theories, and creates more expansive thinking and learning for those with the courage to question current practices. No hard work no exercises. Just relax, read, and then see what happens.
