It is also where her booty began to get attention when she was just 13 years old. Not only has it created quite the stir, it has also partially shaped her life - literally and figuratively. The attention on her derriere continued to gain momentum when she moved to Los Angeles, California. Osa tells the tales of crazy reactions, indecent proposals, jokes and having her ethnicity in question because of her behind. Her booty definitely takes on a life of its own and even begins to talk back in the stories. Packed with smart humor, you will get a lot of booty - BUTT there's also a deeper thread about staying with our truth, stereotyping and how we judge ourselves and others - how it affects us and what we do with it all. Awesome photos included.

Book excerpt: The idea of this women's magazine originated with Samuel Williams, a Cincinnati Methodist, who thought that Christian women needed a magazine less worldly than Godey's Lady's Book and Snowden's Lady's Companion. Written largely by ministers, this exceptionally well-printed little magazine contained well-written essays of a moral character, plenty of poetry, articles on historical and scientific matters, and book reviews. Among western writers were Alice Cary, who contributed over a hundred sketches and poems, her sister Phoebe Cary, Otway Curry, Moncure D. Conway, and Joshua R. Giddings; and New England contributors included Mrs. Lydia Sigourney, Hannah F. Gould, and Julia C.R Dorr. By 1851, each issue published a peice of music and two steel plates, usually landscapes or portraits. When Davis E. Clark took over the editorship in 1853, the magazine became brighter and attained a circulation of 40,000. Unlike his predecessors, Clark included fictional pieces and made the Repository a magazine for the whole family. After the war it began to decline and in 1876 was replaced by the National Repository. The Ladies' Repository was an excellent representative of the Methodist mind and heart. Its essays, sketches, and poems, its good steel engravings, and its moral tone gave it a charm all its own. -- Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.

Book excerpt: Exemplary Novels ("Novelas ejemplares") is a series of novellas (short stories) that were written by the great Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes between 1590 and 1612, and printed in 1613. The book followed the publication of the first part of Don Quixote, for which Cervantes is best known for. The novellas have a moralistic intention to them and are usually grouped into two series: those characterized by an idealized nature and those of a realistic nature. Cervantes boasted in his foreword to have been the first to write novellas in the Spanish language.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Buridan was a brilliant logician in an age of brilliant logicians, sensitive to formal and philosophical considerations. There is a need for critical editions and accurate translations of his works, for his philosophical voice speaks directly across the ages to problems of concern to analytic philosophers today. But his idiom is unfamiliar, so editions and trans lations alone will not bridge the gap of centuries. I have tried to make Buridan accessible to philosophers and logicians today by the introduc tory essay, in which I survey Buridan's philosophy of logic. Several problems which Buridan touches on only marginally in the works trans lated herein are developed and discussed, citing other works of Buridan; some topics which he treats at length in the translated works, such as the semantic theory of oblique terms, I have touched on lightly or not at all. Such distortions are inevitable, and I hope that the idiosyncracies of my choice of philosophically relevant topics will not blind the reader to other topics of value Buridan considers. My goal in translating has been to produce an accurate renaering of the Latin. Often Buridan will couch a logical rule in terms of the grammatical form of a sentence, and I have endeavored to keep the translation consistent. Some strained phrases result, such as "A man I know" having a different logic from "I know a man. " This awkwardness cannot always be avoided, and I beg the reader's indulgence. All of the translations here are my own.

Book excerpt: Pastor Shauna Hyde brings her experience in, not only ministering to the homeless, but becoming such a welcome part of their world, that she is known as "The Vicar of Tent Town." I struggle to be accepting and understanding when organizations refuse to work together because an issue is more important than people. I become angry, distressed, and depressed when churches cannot put differences aside in order to transform the loves of those who are desperate to feel the touch of God. I can say that I have had upscale dinners with the wealthy and split a sandwich under a bridge with the not so wealthy. I can say I have had lunch with movie stars and I have rocked a homeless man to sleep. I have been at both ends of the spectrum and have seen the beauty that makes up humanity. Just when I think I am done and cannot love anymore because I am tired of the games people play and the silly things they get upset about, someone will show me the beauty of their souls – the place where God is and I know I can still love and show grace. -- Shauna Hyde

Book excerpt: The final book of the Finder Chronicles, a hopepunk sci-fi caper described as Macgyver meets Firefly, by Hugo Award-winner Suzanne Palmer "The kind of science fiction you’d get if Firefly and Pierce Brown’s Red Rising had a baby—an adrenaline-packed, heist-filled ride with a heavy side of political intrigue.” —BookPage (for Finder) Fergus Ferguson, professional finder, always knew his semi-voluntary exile wouldn’t last, but he isn't expecting a friend to betray him. One of the galaxy’s most dangerous space pirates, Bas Belos, wants him, and what Belos wants, he gets. Belos needs help finding out what happened to his twin sister, who mysteriously disappeared at the edges of space years ago, and he makes Fergus an offer he can't refuse. Mysterious disappearances and impossible answers are Fergus’ specialties. After he reluctantly joins Belos and his crew aboard the pirate ship Sidewider, he discovers that Belos is being tracked by the Alliance. Seeking to stay one step ahead of the Alliance, Fergus and Belos find themselves marooned in the middle of the Gap between spiral arms of our galaxy, dangerously near hostile alien territory, and with an Alliance ship in hot pursuit. That’s just the beginning of the complications for Fergus’ newest—and possibly last—job. The puzzle is much bigger than just Belos's lost sister, and the question of his future, retirement or not, depends on his ability to negotiate a path between aliens, criminals, and the most powerful military force he's ever encountered. The future of entire planets hangs in the balance, and it remains to be seen if it's too big for one determined man and his cranky cat.

Each novella presents a unique tale, ranging from adventures in far-off lands to domestic dramas and tales of romance. Through these diverse narratives, Cervantes explores themes such as love, honor, justice, and the human capacity for both greatness and folly. One of the most famous stories in the collection is "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha," which introduces readers to the iconic character of Don Quixote, a nobleman who becomes obsessed with the ideals of chivalry and embarks on a series of misadventures. Other notable tales include "The Little Gypsy Girl," which tells the story of a young girl's quest for justice after being wronged by a nobleman, and "The Jealous Estremaduran," a humorous exploration of jealousy and mistaken identity.
