This moving, fast-paced story is set in two contrasting worlds: the rich, horse-breeding milieu of Riley Chadwick and his family, and the hand-to-mouth life on the street of Lu and her mates. What happens when those worlds collide? Riley's daughter, Anna, seems to have everything: looks, money, confidence. Lu has nothing except her friends and the sense of inferiority and rage she feels the moment she sets eyes on Anna Chadwick. Feelings that will run out of control . . .

Book excerpt: This is the companion volume to My Heart Sings Out, a collection of hymns, songs, and service music chosen for their particular usefulness in liturgy that is designed intentionally to include children. Intergenerational participation in the liturgy is essential for growing churches. In addition to all of the music from the singer's edition, the Teacher's Guide includes: Brief essays on choosing music and texts appropriate for children; teaching music to children; the importance of a cantor as music leader; and planning worship using the "multiple intelligences" theory to better engage both children and adults. Suggestions for performance, including additional rhythmic and instrumental parts, ideas for use of multiple voice parts, and ways to make performance simpler or more complex depending on resources. Scriptural and lectionary material, including teaching ideas about understanding the story or theme of the day. Guidelines for planning children's chapel services, and for organizing musical content in church school classes and other special learning events. Musical concerns when teaching, including a breakdown of teaching methods for each piece: points of difficulty, patterns of rhythm or melody, etc. to make the music readily accessible to children and adults. Extensive indexes that list the types of accompanying instrumentation, that categorize selections by age level, that list which selections have harmony parts, that match scripture to texts, plus a liturgical index and a topical index.

Book excerpt: This magnificent collection of eleven early [1250–1450] Chinese plays will give readers a vivid sense of life and a clear understanding of dramatic literature during an extraordinarily eventful period in Chinese history. Not only are the eleven plays in this volume expertly translated into lively, idiomatic English; they are each provided with illuminating, scholarly introductions that are yet fully intelligible to the educated lay reader. A marvelous volume.--Victor Mair, University of Pennsylvania

Book excerpt: On the day of Ling Xi's wedding, Ye Yao had died miserably in his home. Unexpectedly, when she opened her eyes and went back to the year she was 18, she still hadn't fallen in love with Ling Xi. This is really ... Great. She could finally take back everything that belonged to her and take back the Ye Family without worrying about anyone else. She could unrestrainedly take revenge on those dregs that had hurt her, become the most dazzling star, then turn to that handsome little fresh meat that flew into the sky and escaped into the ground, and talk about a sweet love life and death that would never change. "You want to fall in love with Fresh Meat, huh?" Ye Jiayao's mouth was dry from being slammed into the wall by a man. The man's voice was deep and sexy, full of danger. "You can't look for anyone else except me." In his previous life, there were two things that Ye Yao was most afraid of. One was Ling Tingxiao, and the other was Ling Tingxiao after dark. In this life, she ... Still scared.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Writing has taken over my life.. in a good way. My thoughts continually are geared towards my next song. Sometimes I get a few lines in my head when I am driving and I have to pull over the car and write them down! No matter where I am, I get the urge to write. I could be talking to a neighbor, or be in the middle of mass at church and a word or phrase will pop into my head and whoa! -a new song is born! More than anything I love, love, love, the peace of mind songwriting allows me to have. Most of my lyrics take me 15 to 30 minutes to write. There was a time when I was writing 6-8 lyrics in a day. Sometimes I would sit there and stare at my pencil asking why did you stop? I swear at times the pencil kept moving like I wasnt even thinking of what to write. This is my first edition. I hope to continue with future editions as I am still writing new songs everyday. Someday I hope to put my lyrics to my own music and I recently started taking piano lessons. Hey, we all know life is a learning process; a learning curve, we need to experience the turns with the ride! I wish you all success with this book and look forward to seeing some of you with me when it comes to award times!
