Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where The Hells The Enemy is the story of a small army reserve transportation unit. For those unfamiliar with transportation unit, that means, truck drivers. Now, there are far more glamorous jobs in the army, but the guys hauling supplies, ammo and troops around are about as important as any. Without the proper transportation, an army would quickly find itself mired down, unable to advance on the enemy. At least, thats how the folks assigned to this particular unit thought of themselves, even though they seldom did anything on training weekends, except read girly magazines. A number of the men are without jobs and live at a Salvation Army Center for homeless men. When Gerry Thompson retires from the regular army and joins the reserve unit, he quickly realizes their commander, First Lieutenant Larry Noble, knows as much about being a soldier as he, himself knew about being a rock singer. Which was nothing! Thompson suspected they might be deployed to the Persian Gulf, so decided he had better try to make soldiers out of the bunch of pot smoking neer do wells. A few months after joining the unit, they were deployed to California for their summer encampment so they might learn to drive the Bradley Fighting Machine. Lieutenant Noble lays out a route which will take them hundreds of miles out of the way, so they can stay a couple of days in Las Vegas. When Noble loses all his money, he sells one of their deuce and a half trucks to a rancher that he might continue to gamble. After Thompson recovers the truck and takes over command from the hapless lieutenant, they continue to summer encampment. Thompson has been extremely hard on the men to try to make soldiers of them, but they do well at Fort Ord and stay out of trouble. Thompson relents and allows a stop at Disneyland on the way back to San Antonio. He cannot help but laugh at the men, including Lieutenant Noble, because they are like a bunch of little kids at Disneyland. Then, the call comes that they have been activated for duty in the Gulf. Now, Thompson is worried! He has to get this bunch of misfits shaped up. Hell, half of them dont even have uniforms. When they arrive is Saudi Arabia, Thompson is nervous as hell theyll get into trouble after they learn there is absolutely no fraternizing with the local women and absolutely no booze of any kind allowed. But, he is pleasantly surprised, when even Anderson, the worst of the lot seems to take their job seriously, as they ferry munitions and vehicles to the border with Iraq. The ground war begins, as they are delivering Bradley fighting vehicles to the Second Armored Division. The division pulls out before they arrive and Thompson makes the decision that they should try to catch up with the 2nd to deliver the Bradleys. Of course, they become lost in the desert and wind up farther north than any allied troops were supposed to go. They are in dire need of fuel, and learn there is fuel at a scud missile site close-by. Against all odds, and against Thompsons better judgment, they do manage to take out the missile crews and fire the missiles off at an Iraqi oil refinery. Now, they all think they are heroes of the first order, but find themselves being chased across the desert by an Iraqi armored force. But, it turns out the Iraqis want to surrender rather than fight. They accidentally come across an underground bunker and destroy it by dropping a missile from the Bradley down a vent pipe. Thompson and Anderson damned near kill themselves in the effort. After an American aircraft spots them so far north in Iraq and reports it to the commanding general, Thompsons gang of misfits are ordered to the rescue of a group of army rangers trapped in a small town and surrounded by enemy armor. They enlist the

Book excerpt: Special agent James Cronley Jr. finds that fighting both ex-Nazis and the Soviet NKGB can lead to strange bedfellows, in the dramatic new Clandestine Operations novel about the birth of the CIA and the Cold War. A month ago, Cronley managed to capture two notorious Nazi war criminals, but not without leaving some dead bodies and outraged Austrian police in his wake. He's been lying low ever since, but that little vacation is about to end. Somebody--Odessa, the NKGB, the Hungarian Secret Police?--has broken the criminals out of jail, and he must track them down again. But there's more to it than that. Evidence has surfaced that in the war's last gasps, Heinrich Himmler had stashed away a fortune to build a secret religion, dedicated both to Himmler and to creating the Fourth Reich. That money is still out there in the hands of Odessa, and that infamous organization seems to have acquired a surprising--and troubling--ally. Cronley is fast finding out that the phrase "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" can mean a lot of different things, and that it is not always clear which people he can trust and which are out to kill him.

Most people struggle to assume the best of themselves. And their poor self-concept is only made worse by their past mistakes, poor choices, and failures. Kimberly has heard the inner voice that continually says, “You can’t.” And she’s learned how to shut it up. Known for telling it like it is, Real Talk Kim, as Jones-Pothier is known, challenges readers to stare inadequacy in the face and say, “Not today!” Exposing her own messes and failures, she leads readers on a journey to overcome the negative thinking, fear, loneliness, disappointment, and wrong view of self that have led to their feelings of inadequacy so they can walk in the fullness of God’s purpose for them. The enemy is always going to tell people what they can and cannot do. He’s always going to play into their fears and regrets. Jones-Pothier reveals the truths that will silence the accuser and empower readers to stop being ruled by their emotions, make choices from a place of confidence instead of doubt and insecurity, realize that God’s plan is bigger than their past, reject the labels others have placed on them, let God determine who they are, and stop being a victim and find the freedom to be themselves. Breakthroughs don’t come without a fight. Anyone who wants a breakthrough has to break through—they have to act. Providing practical tools that lead to victory, Shut Hell Up shows readers how to stop seeing themselves as inadequate and embrace who God says they are. When you feel not enough, God says I AM ENOUGH. This book will help you use what God says about you to fight negative self-talk and lies from the enemy. Sleeping with the Enemy affects many lives today—the saint as well as the sinner. While God's created beings are blindfolded, Satan is stripping off the clothes, socks, and shoes of the preachers, teachers, bishops, and prophets alike. After they are vulnerable, he seeks out the lonely, depressed, brokenhearted, and victims of abuse to make sure that they are without truth and apart from God. If you want to take off the blindfold and get out of the relationship with the enemy, if you want to change bed partners and see through the eyes of Jesus, read Sleeping with the Enemy and get a good night's rest.

Book excerpt: "An unnamed American city feeling the effects of a war waged far away and suffering from bad weather is the backdrop for this startling work of fiction. The protagonists are aimless young men going from one blue collar job to the next, or in a few cases, aspiring to middle management. Their everyday struggles--with women, with the morning commute, with a series of cruel bosses--are somehow transformed into storytelling that is both universally resonant and wonderfully uncanny. That is the unsettling, funny, and ultimately heartfelt originality of Saïd Sayrafiezadeh's short fiction, to be at home in a world not quite our own but with many, many lessons to offer us"--

Book excerpt: Coping with anger and pain is more challenging than ever in these times—and more necessary. Two acclaimed Buddhist teachers offer strategies and wisdom in a book that’s been called “possibly the most inspiring and liberating meditation on love ever written.” When people and circumstances upset us, how do we deal with them? Often, we feel victimized. We become hurt, angry, and defensive. We end up seeing others as enemies, and when things don’t go our way, we become enemies to ourselves. But what if we could move past this pain, anger, and defensiveness? Inspired by Buddhist philosophy, this book introduces us to the four kinds of enemies we encounter in life: the outer enemy, people, institutions, and situations that mean to harm us; the inner enemy, anger, hatred, fear, and other destructive emotions; the secret enemy, self-obsession that isolates us from others; and the super-secret enemy, deep-seated self-loathing that prevents us from finding inner freedom and true happiness. In this practical guide, we learn not only how to identify our enemies, but more important, how to transform our relationship to them. Love Your Enemies teaches us how to . . . · break free from the mode of “us” versus “them” thinking · develop compassion, patience, and love · accept what is beyond our control · embrace lovingkindness, right speech, and other core concepts First published in 2013, Love Your Enemies is, more than ever, required reading for navigating our world. Throughout, authors Sharon Salzberg and Robert Thurman draw from ancient spiritual wisdom and modern psychology to help you find peace within yourself and with the world. * Includes new prefaces from both authors *

Book excerpt: Have you suddenly experienced being under attack, and not understanding why? Hell on your job, hell in your home, and hell on your mind? Could it be the enemy inviting himself in? We are living in a time where the enemy is using us for his will. We have become so deceived by his tricks that we have allowed him to step right into our lives to sift us like wheat. When I speak of the enemy, I am not talking about Al-Qaeda, the Soviets or North Korea. I am talking about the enemy of our soul. This thought provoking book will take you through some of the challenges we face in our daily lives. It will also help you identify the enemy's strategies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life. This is an area about which man has the greatest knowledge. However it is only a pit stop for the human race. What lies before and beyond this little pit stop is open to heavy debate. In fact most people take birth to be the beginning. Death on the other hand is spoken of as being either a full stop for the person or a continuation of life’s journey to somewhere in the unknown. This has given rise to religion. A set of rules was created to explain the unexplainable and this code of morals governed our journey to either a wondrous existence in Heaven or to the fiery confines of Hell. But this book is not dealing with theology. It relates to History – Egyptian History to be more specific – it is the chronicle of events that unfolded during the reign of King Hatshepsut of the Egyptian Empire almost one thousand five hundred years before the birth of Christ. To understand the ancient Egyptians, we must grasp their concepts of earth, heaven and hell. Their life was ruled by their religion.
