Download or read book The Heart of a Great Pastor written by H. B. London and published by Gospel Light Publications. This book was released on 2006-09-05 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Heart of a Great Pastor salutes pastors everywhere – those wanting to take a fresh look at their ministries, as well as those just starting out. As the baton is passed to the “new breed of pastors,” there is a great need to help them count the cost of serving Christ and equip them with the tools, wisdom and encouragement from those who have gone before them. H.B. London, Jr., and Neil B.Wiseman bring their experiences and heart to pastors for such a task. To the “new breed,” they ask: Do you have a mentor? Have you examined your unique call and place in society? Do you have buy-in from your spouse and children? Do you spend as much time in the Word and study as you do in the entrepreneurial pursuits of your ministry? Do you genuinely love people? Do you really understand how invested God is in you and how important it is for you to make it? Here is help for young pastors and their mentors to stay strong personally while taking churches to the edge of creative, imaginative newness for Christ while remaining safely anchored to the abiding and adventuresome gospel.

Book Synopsis Man of La Mancha by : Dale Wasserman
Download or read book Man of La Mancha written by Dale Wasserman and published by Random House. This book was released on 2011-04-27 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Winner of the New York Drama Critics Award for Best Musical, 1966 "To me the most interesting aspect of the success of Man of La Mancha is the fact that it plows squarely upstream against the prevailing current of philosophy in the theater. That current is best identified by its catch-labels--Theater of the Absurd, Black Comedy, the Theater of Cruelty--which is to say the theater of alienation, of moral anarchy and despair. To the practitioners of those philosophies Man of La Mancha must seem hopelessly naive in its espousal of illusion as man's strongest spiritual need, the most meaningful function of his imagination. But I've no unhappiness about that. "Facts are the enemy of truth," says Cervantes-Don Quixote. And that is precisely what I felt and meant."--Dale Wasserman, from the Preface.

What Readers Said About Stay The Course: Stay The Course is a magnificent book. It's the kind of book that should be in every school in this country. I am anxiously awaiting the sequel.-Beverley Brown, Falls Church, VA. I am a reading enrichment teacher. My students enjoyed Stay The Course. They learned so much about segregation.-Uzal Daniels, Los Angeles, CA I am overwhelmed at the impact Stay The Course had on me. Book Synopsis Collaborative Spirit-Writing and Performance in Everyday Black Lives by : Bryant Keith Alexander
Download or read book Collaborative Spirit-Writing and Performance in Everyday Black Lives written by Bryant Keith Alexander and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2021-11-11 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Collaborative Spirit-Writing and Performance in Everyday Black Lives is about the interconnectedness between collaboration, spirit, and writing. It is also about a dialogic engagement that draws upon shared lived experiences, hopes, and fears of two Black persons: male/female, straight/gay. This book is structured around a series of textual performances, poems, plays, dialogues, calls and responses, and mediations that serve as claim, ground, warrant, qualifier, rebuttal, and backing in an argument about collaborative spirit-writing for social justice. Each entry provides evidence of encounters of possibility, collated between the authors, for ourselves, for readers, and society from a standpoint of individual and collective struggle. The entries in this Black performance diary are at times independent and interdependent, interspliced and interrogative, interanimating and interstitial. They build arguments about collaboration but always emanate from a place of discontent in a caste system, designed through slavery and maintained until today, that positions Black people in relation to white superiority, terror, and perpetual struggle. With particular emphasis on the confluence of Race, Racism, Antiracism, Black Lives Matter, the Trump administration, and the Coronavirus pandemic, this book will appeal to students and scholars in Race studies, performance studies, and those who practice qualitative methods as a new way of seeking Black social justice.

Book Synopsis Love Them Back to Life by : Ariane Page
Download or read book Love Them Back to Life written by Ariane Page and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2014-10-09 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the oak tree is summarized in the acorn, so nature is summarized in the human brain. They express a model. Looking at this small acorn though, no one can foresee the majestic oak tree it might become. Of course, with only its genetic code it will not develop. In the same way, humans are called to become what our ancestors and even we cannot foresee. But in order to develop all our potentialities some conditions must be met. We surround this acorn with nutrients, water, earth, and light, allowing it to be part of a living whole. For humans, this living whole is nature and society. Alas, at this time both have become deficient. The model is not allowed to freely unfold. This model was intuitively grasped by all great traditions. It led psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung to find in Taoism principles so vast that they can be applied to the entire humanity. With the rise of modern science though, this vision vanished. However, brain research results agree with the model so science is now on the brink of rediscovering it. In Love them back to Life, her second book, Ariane Page takes us on a discovery journey through this model expressed by the human brain as she focuses on love. Love is the tool used by this model, the LIFE (Law Inherent to the Five Elements), to eventually lead us to coherence between our physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual realities. In that holism, we will truly feel alive, happy, and loved.

Download or read book Longing written by Jean Petrucelli and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-26 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Longing: Psychoanalytic Musings on Desire is a contemporary, interdisciplinary exploration of one of psychoanalysis's most foundational and fascinating areas of investigation. This anthology explores the vicissitudes and varieties of desire, its public and private, normative and transgressive, its light and dark expressions. It examines desire in its relational, cultural, clinical, physical, sexual and aesthetic forms. Collectively, these essays demonstrate an understanding of the difficulties of identifying and realizing desire, precisely because it is multiple, omnipresent, shape-shifting, ongoing and, perhaps, always ultimately unfulfillable. They question whether desire is by definition something that cannot be satisfied, and contemplate how we relate to our desires? Interpersonal psychoanalytic practice and theory understands desire not merely as an intrapsychic drive but also as a force shaped by and shaping interpersonal relationships. From within this perspective, a number of the contributors examine a broad variety of clinical manifestations of desire as it struggles for expression or suppression.
