Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The faithfulness of God is something that you have to experience not read about in our lives and when I was young I knew that God was real and some thing's I would not do and things that I wouldn't say because I was always aware of His presence, God spoke to me when I was drowning and from that day until now, His presence is what I desire. Psalms 42:1-5, is one of my favorite Scriptures because as Moses said Lord if I have found favor in your sight, show me your Glory, this is what I desire more than anything. The reason I'm writing this book is to that degree, I want to see the body of Christ functioning as I see in the book of Acts. When I was in this certain denomination 20 years ago I read the book of Acts and something was different and so I begin to seek the Lord more and more to answer this burning in my heart for more, in that Church I didn't see what I was seeing in the Bible and it seem like only a few was really hungry for more.

Indeed, the promise of redemption that was given so long ago was finally fulfilled. Now all who would call upon the name of Jesus would be saved forevermore. Entering the rest of God was once again a reality. No more striving. No more toiling. In body, soul, and spirit, we could experience the presence and power of God. Yet how many Christians truly realize the fullness of their salvation? How many continue to live in fear, depression, condemnation, and lack? How many understand what was finished and who they truly are in Christ Jesus? Through the words in this devotional, you will find a beautiful unfolding of truth. You will come to understand what was God's heart and plan for you from the beginning, what really happened in the Garden of Eden, and who you truly are because of what Christ Jesus accomplished on the Cross. And as you read and grow each day in experiencing His love for you, you will come to know a joy and peace and victory beyond what you have even imagined. Truly, IT IS FINISHED."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intended as sequel to the author's early study 'The Obedience of Faith': A Pauline Phrase in Historical Context, this book explores the interlocking themes of faith, obedience, and perseverance in the letter to the Romans. Don Garlington argues that Paul's phrase the obedience of faith is designed to say two things at the same time, that is, an obedience which consists in faith and which is the outgrowth of faith's commitment to Jesus Christ. The obedience of faith thus articulates both the inception of Christian existence and its continuation in the perseverance of the believer. The author reflects on Romans 2:22's allegation of disobedience (sacrilege) on the part of Israel. Since Paul's conception of (faith's) obedience stands in stark relief to the (unbelieving) disobedience of his Jewish contemporaries, it is only against the backdrop of his indictment of Israel that aspects of his teaching emerge with tolerable clarity. Garlington also examines Romans 2:13: only the doers of the law will be justified in eschatological judgment. Thus, there is in Paul's theology the idea of a future justification of the people of God, which forms an analogue to their present justification. And it is none other than the obedience of faith which provides the link between the two moments of justification. Romans 5 is focused on its portrayal of Christ as the obedient last Adam, who ensures the obedience of faith of his people. An exegesis of Romans 7:14-25 approaches the obedience of faith from the angle of the Christian's experience of the onslaught of the powers of this present evil age. The ideals of the age to come, as set out before, are seen to be tempered by the realism of this period of overlapping aeons. Finally the author reflects on the theological and practical significance of the exegetical materials, including a discussion of justification and sanctification in Christian thought.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world's poorest people are struggling to access quality, affordable health care. Change is urgently required. Faith-based organizations deliver more than 40 percent of health services in many of the poorest places. This book argues FBOs can--and must--deliver quality health services without sacrificing their faith in the process. Dean Pallant asks an awkward question: "If its faith does not drive an FBO, whose faith does?" Pallant visited Salvation Army health ministries in more than forty countries in four years, and this book records his global reflections structured around a practical theological model of enquiry. His goal is to identify a faithful future for hundreds of Salvation Army hospitals and clinics and thousands of congregation-based health ministries. Pallant finds answers in the work of Karl Polanyi, John Wesley, Stanley Hauerwas, William Booth, and Luke Bretherton, among others. Pallant challenges the bio-medical definition of health and proposes a comprehensive appreciation of people as "healthy persons"--the people God created us to be. Pallant's proposals are bold and far-reaching for the Salvation Army and other FBOs. They are insightful and challenging for everyone--of whatever faith--committed to improve the health of the poorest people.

Book excerpt: Character Building through Christian Education on Family Life for youths is very timely and significant and is ready to challenge many social ills that beset many confused, misguided, and delinquent youths and adults, spiritually. It promotes and supports righteous living as the basis and answer for most social problems of and in family life. Like Matthew Arnold said in Light for My Path, Nothing will do except righteousness; and no other conception of righteousness will do, except Christ conception of it (page 176). Its all about our attitudes and the choices that we make (Bishop Ronald Edward).
