How do you deal with these unforeseen tragedies or occurrences? Do you just pimp God and say a foxhole prayer, please God get me out of this? Or do you prepare yourself for the inevitable and when life does show up you are ready mentally, physically, and spiritually? This book continues where his book Behind the Glass left off, the saga of Dr. Maysons false arrest, unfair trial, and conviction. It also outlines seven spiritual disciplines that will prepare you for anything that life can throw at you. It is essential for Christians, professionals, moms, dads, and anyone else who wants to be prepared for life, when it shows up, because it will!

Book excerpt: A gripping story of grace, faith, and triumph for a woman whose world shattered hours after her husband's suicide. Becky Powell faced the unthinkable on May 16, 2013. Her husband Mark called and said, "I've done something terrible." Within hours, she learned that he had taken his own life and, over a period of several years, millions of dollars from friends and colleagues. Everything she believed to be true, the very fiber of her marriage, was called into question. Within a week, rather than planning carpool runs and volunteer fundraisers, she owed almost one hundred creditors millions of dollars and had her own team of ten lawyers. She was also the subject of open FBI, SEC and DOJ investigations--and faced potential criminal charges. And, although she instantly denounced every cent of Mark's $15M in life insurance and promised to repay every penny taken, her lawyers knew that in reality she faced years of court battles and lawsuits, and possible jail time. Yet from that first horrific moment, God was there. He showed up in His Word, in Becky's friends, in her lawyers and in the generosity of those around her. He worked miracles. CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and others covered the first moment, but what about the last? What about the story in which God gives your next breath because you can't find it on your own? What about the story of a mom and three kids trying to make sense of their pasts, present and future while living under a microscope? Awful Beautiful Life is Becky's journey through the two years surrounding Mark's death and how she overcame. It came down to a loving God who surrounded her, a present and dedicated family, and friends, who made her life, offered her sanctuary and showed up for her and her kids in tangible ways. This is a story of remarkable grit, strength, and what the Body of Christ in action looks like.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tarot Card Meanings is an encyclopedia reference guide that takes the Tarot apprentice reader through each of the 78 Tarot Cards offering the potential general meanings and interpretations that could be applied when conducting a reading, whether it be spiritual, love, general, or work related questions. Many novices struggle with reading the Tarot as they want to know what a card can mean in their readings. They grow stuck staring at several cards sitting side by side having no idea what it could be telling them. The Tarot Card Meanings book can assist by pointing you in the general direction of where to look. It will not give you the ultimate answers and should not be taken verbatim, as that is up to you as the reader to come to that conclusion. The more you practice, read, and study the Tarot, then the better you become. Tarot Card Meanings avoids diving into the Tarot history, or card spreads and symbolism, but instead focuses solely on the potential meanings of a card in a reading. This is by giving you a structure to jump off of, but it is up to you to take that energy and add the additional layers to your reading, while trusting your higher self, intuition, instincts and Spirit team’s guidance and messages. Author, Kevin Hunter, is a lifelong clairaudient and claircognizant who has written more than a dozen spiritually based empowerment books that have assisted readers around the world in improving their well-being, while also helping them become stronger conduits with Spirit, Heaven, and the Other Side. Anything included in the Tarot Card Meanings book is an overview and not intended to be gospel. It is merely one suggested version of the potential meanings of each of the 78 Tarot cards in a reading. This is an easy to understand manual for the Tarot novice that is having trouble interpreting cards for themselves, or a Tarot reader who loves the craft and is looking for a refresher or another point of view. NOTE: The Tarot Card Meanings book does not include a Tarot deck.

Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Discover the game-changing theory of the cycles of history and what past generations can teach us about living through times of upheaval—with deep insights into the roles that Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials have to play—now with a new preface by Neil Howe. First comes a High, a period of confident expansion. Next comes an Awakening, a time of spiritual exploration and rebellion. Then comes an Unraveling, in which individualism triumphs over crumbling institutions. Last comes a Crisis—the Fourth Turning—when society passes through a great and perilous gate in history. William Strauss and Neil Howe will change the way you see the world—and your place in it. With blazing originality, The Fourth Turning illuminates the past, explains the present, and reimagines the future. Most remarkably, it offers an utterly persuasive prophecy about how America’s past will predict what comes next. Strauss and Howe base this vision on a provocative theory of American history. The authors look back five hundred years and uncover a distinct pattern: Modern history moves in cycles, each one lasting about the length of a long human life, each composed of four twenty-year eras—or “turnings”—that comprise history’s seasonal rhythm of growth, maturation, entropy, and rebirth. Illustrating this cycle through a brilliant analysis of the post–World War II period, The Fourth Turning offers bold predictions about how all of us can prepare, individually and collectively, for this rendezvous with destiny.

Book excerpt: From a New York Times–bestselling author who “creates vibrant characters and stories” the latest western romance set in Bliss County, Wyoming (Debbie Macomber, #1 New York Times–bestselling author of The Best is Yet to Come). Drake Carson is the quintessential cowboy. In charge of the family ranch, he knows the realities of this life, its pleasures and heartbreaks. Lately, managing the wild stallions on his property is wearing him down. When an interfering so-called expert arrives and starts offering her opinion, Drake is wary, but he can’t deny the longing—and the challenge—she stirs in him. Luce Hale is researching how wild horses interact with ranch animals—and with ranchers. The Carson matriarch invites her to stay with the family, which guarantees frequent encounters with Drake, her ruggedly handsome and decidedly unwelcoming son. Luce and Drake are at odds from the very beginning, especially when it comes to the rogue stallion who’s stealing the ranch mares. But when Drake believes Luce is in danger, that changes everything—for both of them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book invites women of all ages into a conversation that challenges the pervasive lie of “never good enough.” This common subtext of modern life undermines a woman’s appreciation of her own inherent beauty and goodness. The authors recommend 8 Radical Moves that women can make, alone or ideally in the good company of other women, to take on this challenge, to deepen this conversation. The Moves are radical because they aim directly at the center of a woman’s being, the inner space of her true nature, her basic goodness, rather than because they require any extreme actions. Nonetheless, the conviction that “never good enough” is a lie requires more than lip service. The authors guide readers in identifying the courage, strength and love they already possess, but habitually deny, to embrace and live by this conviction of self respect, day to day in mind, body and heart. They further encourage women to make this stand with and in the presence of other women to increase everybody’s likelihood for success. Regina Sara Ryan, author of numerous books in wellness, women’s studies and spirituality (Wellness Workbook; Woman Awake; Igniting the Inner Life) is an elder in her seventies. Shinay Tredeau, a yoga teacher, lifestyle coach, dancer and emerging writer is a “millennial” in her twenties. Together, they bring to this warm and personal treatment a synergy of years of experience in contemplative spiritual practice and dynamic body discipline. Their message is addressed to their sisters, mothers, friends and students, of all ages; to any who suffer from the dis-ease of self-hatred in some form. Each of the 8 Radical Moves provides a slightly different access to clearer self-understanding, leading to self-compassion. For some, the Move to “Inhabit Your Body” will be key to claiming (or reclaiming) a more loving relationship with themselves. For others, the Move called “Learn to Fly” will be just the encouragement needed to refine a spiritual search. Other topics include: • the danger of comparisons with other women • the need to face dark emotions, with compassion • the power of friendship in the quest for self-acceptance • the use of journal writing to articulate developing truth • gratitude as a way of life. This straightforward and challenging narrative is filled with dozens of personal stories, making it ideal for women’s groups and book clubs to study and practice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christine M. Korsgaard presents a compelling new view of humans' moral relationships to the other animals. She defends the claim that we are obligated to treat all sentient beings as what Kant called "ends-in-themselves". Drawing on a theory of the good derived from Aristotle, she offers an explanation of why animals are the sorts of beings for whom things can be good or bad. She then turns to Kant's argument for the value of humanity to show that rationality commits us to claiming the standing of ends-in-ourselves, in two senses. Kant argued that as autonomous beings, we claim to be ends-in-ourselves when we claim the standing to make laws for ourselves and each other. Korsgaard argues that as beings who have a good, we also claim to be ends-in-ourselves when we take the things that are good for us to be good absolutely and so worthy of pursuit. The first claim commits us to joining with other autonomous beings in relations of moral reciprocity. The second claim commits us to treating the good of every sentient creature as something of absolute importance. Korsgaard argues that human beings are not more important than the other animals, that our moral nature does not make us superior to the other animals, and that our unique capacities do not make us better off than the other animals. She criticizes the "marginal cases" argument and advances a new view of moral standing as attaching to the atemporal subjects of lives. She criticizes Kant's own view that our duties to animals are indirect, and offers a non-utilitarian account of the relation between pleasure and the good. She also addresses a number of directly practical questions: whether we have the right to eat animals, experiment on them, make them work for us and fight in our wars, and keep them as pets; and how to understand the wrong that we do when we cause a species to go extinct.
