Download or read book What Moments Yield written by Bridget Seley Galway and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-06-20 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ?Artist-poet Bridget Seley Galway's poems show the painter's eye with their details from her rich life growing up in New York City and Provincetown with artists, writers and junkies and her more recent life in Somerville, Massachusetts. Beach grass, hot sun on tarred rooftops, fire hydrants spraying water, cold concrete walls, a babe in arms, birds on telephone wires through a window, darkened corners with heroin addicts shooting up. The physical details are interwoven with a deep longing that comes from many losses along the way. But the sense of loss never overwhelms her love for the people in her life and for the beauty of the physical world. Lawrence Kessenich

Book Synopsis Applications and Innovations in Expert Systems VI by : Robert W. Milne
Download or read book Applications and Innovations in Expert Systems VI written by Robert W. Milne and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: R. MILNE Intelligent Applications Ltd The papers in this volume are the Application Papers presented at ES98, the Eighteenth International Conference of the British Computer Society's Specialist Group on Expert Systems. This year has been yet another "applications" success for the conference with this volume containing seventeen papers describing either deployed applications or emerging applications. All these documented case studies provide clear evidence of the success of AI technology in solving real business problems. Six of these papers were nominated for the Best Application Award during the review process. These nominations were then reviewed by the members of the Programme Committee to select the winning paper. The papers in the volume were subject to refereeing by at least two referees. All papers which were controversial for some reason were discussed in depth by the Application Programme Committee. Ten referees from the industrial and commercial sector and nine referees from the academic sector assisted me in reviewing the papers. The review form asked the referee to score the papers according to a number of dimensions, to rate it overall, and to offer critical comments to me, and to the authors. It also asks the referee to score their expertise in the area of each paper they review. Only reviews from 'expert' referees are used.

Book Synopsis Continuum Damage and Fracture Mechanics by : Andreas Öchsner
Download or read book Continuum Damage and Fracture Mechanics written by Andreas Öchsner and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-10-15 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook offers readers an introduction to fracture mechanics, equipping them to grasp the basic ideas of the presented approaches to modeling in applied mechanics In the first part, the book reviews and expands on the classical theory of elastic and elasto-plastic material behavior. A solid understanding of these two topics is the essential prerequisite to advancing to damage and fracture mechanics. Thus, the second part of this course provides an introduction to the treatment of damage and fractures in the context of applied mechanics Wherever possible, the one-dimensional case is first introduced and then generalized in a following step. This departs somewhat from the more classical approach, where first the most general case is derived and then simplified to special cases. In general, the required mathematics background is kept to a minimum Tutorials are included at the end of each chapter, presenting the major steps for the solution and offering valuable tips and tricks. The supplementary problems featured in the book
