Download or read book Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy written by Mark Vroegop and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2019-03-14 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lament is how you live between the poles of a hard life and trusting God’s goodness. Lament is how we bring our sorrow to God—but it is a neglected dimension of the Christian life for many Christians today. We need to recover the practice of honest spiritual struggle that gives us permission to vocalize our pain and wrestle with our sorrow. Lament avoids trite answers and quick solutions, progressively moving us toward deeper worship and trust. Exploring how the Bible—through the psalms of lament and the book of Lamentations—gives voice to our pain, this book invites us to grieve, struggle, and tap into the rich reservoir of grace and mercy God offers in the darkest moments of our lives.
Download or read book The Black Cloud written by Fred Hoyle and published by Penguin UK. This book was released on 2010-09-02 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A 1959 classic 'hard' science-fiction novel by renowned Cambridge astronomer and cosmologist Fred Hoyle. Tracks the progress of a giant black cloud that comes towards Earth and sits in front of the sun, causing widespread panic and death. A select group of scientists and astronomers - including the dignified Astronomer Royal, the pipe smoking Dr Marlowe and the maverick, eccentric Professor Kingsly - engage in a mad race to understand and communicate with the cloud, battling against trigger happy politicians. In the pacy, engaging style of John Wyndham and John Christopher, with plenty of hard science thrown in to add to the chillingly credible premise (he manages to foretell Artificial Intelligence, Optical Character Recognition and Text-to-Speech converters), Hoyle carries you breathlessly through to its thrilling end.

Download or read book Subtle Mind written by Sumesh KT and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2016-02-02 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Subtle mind is a poetry book written by Sumesh and consists of his twenty poems. These poems are speeches of his subtle mind. He is obliged to the Buddhist philosophy of definition of mind to arrive at the subtle mind. Mind is a formless continuum that functions to perceive and understand objects. Mind is not the brain or some other part or function of the body. It is not a physical object. It cannot be seen with the eyes, nor can it be photographed or repaired by surgery. The brain therefore is not the mind but simply part of the body. Because the mind is formless, or non-physical, by nature, it is not obstructed by physical objects. Thus, it is impossible for our body to go to the moon without travelling in a spaceship, but our mind can reach the moon in an instant just by thinking about it. Knowing and perceiving objects is the uncommon function of the mind. There are three levels of mind: gross, subtle, and very subtle. Gross minds include sense awarenesses such as eye awareness and ear awareness, and all strong delusions such as anger, jealousy, attachment, and strong self-grasping ignorance. These gross minds are related to gross inner winds and are relatively easy to recognize. When we fall asleep, our gross minds dissolve inwards and our subtle minds become manifest. Subtle minds are related to subtle inner winds and are more difficult to recognize than gross minds.. The very subtle mind is related to the very subtle inner wind and is extremely difficult to recognize. The continuum of the very subtle mind has no beginning and no end. It is this mind that goes from one life to the next, and, if it is completely purified by training in meditation, it is this mind that will eventually transform into the omniscient mind of a Buddha. It is fervently hoped that as readers pass through each poem, they will travel with the poet in his subtle mind by the tranquillity, solitude and smoothness of a deep sea and subsequently rests on the robust wooden bridge along the spiritual path.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book of poems is, at times, a journal of some of my experiences, although sometimes it is tongue-in-cheek, or wishful thinking. It probably reflects accurately how an older person with years under his belt assesses life. (though, sometimes, its just goofiness). That’s what life should be.. serious, happy, and silly.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seasons of Her is a guide that correlates the transformative process of a woman's life journey to each of the 4 seasons. Her winter represents a time a deep reflection. Her spring, a time of renewed commitment to herself and life-long dreams that she may have put aside. Her summer, the time in which she actively works on realizing her dreams and her fall, the time in which she sees the materialization of her dreams. Each of her seasons will come with their own distinct activities and challenges. All will leave an indelible mark on her experience. However, in the process of rebuilding herself, a woman will learn who she truly is and her life's purpose. The accompanying journal contains reflection questions, activities and affirmations that are specific to each season. The use of this personal journal will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of the season in which you are currently transitioning through and, as a result, a profound understanding of yourself.
