After the battle near Graus, a Moorish village in Spain, El Cid blessed Roberto Aceves de Burgos and gave him a gift of the magical sword, Tizona, and told the boy that his father was dying and he must return home to Burgos. On the journey home, the young knight was attacked by an infamous highwayman and werewolf. Aceves survived the attack, though badly wounded. He was convinced that he would eventually be transformed into a beast of evil. But a wondrous being appeared, healed his wounds and told him that his future was not ordained, that it was his choice to accept God's grace and serve on the side of good rather than evil. Aceves chose to fight evil and became an eternal Holy Warrior. He and his descendants fought for justice over the next nine centuries throughout Europe and into the Americas, always in secret, for they are still feared as werewolves. One day, he and his clan were captured by a young army officer, George Patton, who offered them the chance to come out of the dark and serve in the open as the nation's first Special Forces. They agreed and soon became known for their bravery and ferocity in battle during bothe World Wars and through Iraq and Afghanistan. The Aceves clan eventually settled on a ranch in California's Diablo Mountains, near the abandoned mining town of New Idria. In nearby Hollister, the annual motorcycle rally was taking place when a gang called The Devil's Demons arrived. The gang's leader was a demon, Satan's own kin, seeking revenge and the destruction of the Werewolves of New Idria. When werewolves and demons came together in the toxic remains of New Idria, it was a battle to the death and the transformation of one to a divine creature.

Book excerpt: "The Werewolf Pack" Delves into the lives of a large pack of werewolves. Up on the slopes of Big Bear Mountain lives the Summit Vale Pack, the most well-known pack of werewolves across the world. Within the pack is the Seneca Pack, a pack of adolescent werewolves who choose to live together as a family. Just like the Seneca pack, the entire summit Vale Pack has been living harmoniously with their surroundings and neighbors until Mark Summers, the leader of the Seneca Pack, is killed when a mysterious fire razes his house. Discord between the Seneca Pack and the rest of the Summit Vale packs come to fore once the long-standing conundrum of who will take over as the leader of Seneca Pack finally calls for a resolution. While the few eligible candidates in the Seneca Pack hesitate to take on the role because of the many daunting responsibilities it entails, malicious Summit Vale Pack werewolves take Mark's tragic and untimely death as an opportunity to destroy the Seneca Pack, which they think is illegitimate, improper, unnecessary, and a liability. Surprisingly, the task to maintain both the Seneca and the Summit Vale packs will eventually fall on the shoulders of Vivian, Mark's sixteen-year-old daughter. She will not only ultimately resolve her clan's leadership issue, she will also uncover a cast web of corruption, evil and betrayal that once resolved, will clear up her clan's reputation in the eyes of the entire Summit Vale Pack.

Over 150 supernatural beings are presented, both lexically and according to the role that they have in Slovenian folklore. They are classified by type, characteristic, features, and by the message conveyed in their motifs and contents. The material has been analysed in the context of European and some non-European mythological concepts, and the author deals with theory and interpretations as well as the conclusions of domestic and foreign researchers. The book forms new starting points and a classification of supernatural beings within a frame of a number of sources, some of which have been published for the first time in this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The neighborhoods of Fifth Ward, Fourth Ward, Third Ward, and the Southside of Houston, Texas, gave birth to Houston rap, a vibrant music scene that has produced globally recognized artists such as Geto Boys, DJ Screw, Pimp C and Bun B of UGK, Fat Pat, Big Moe, Z-Ro, Lil’ Troy, and Paul Wall. Lance Scott Walker and photographer Peter Beste spent a decade documenting Houston’s scene, interviewing and photographing the people—rappers, DJs, producers, promoters, record label owners—and places that give rap music from the Bayou City its distinctive character. Their collaboration produced the books Houston Rap and Houston Rap Tapes. This second edition of Houston Rap Tapes amplifies the city’s hip-hop history through new interviews with Scarface, Slim Thug, Lez Moné, B L A C K I E, Lil’ Keke, and Sire Jukebox of the original Ghetto Boys. Walker groups the interviews into sections that track the different eras and movements in Houston rap, with new photographs and album art that reveal the evolution of the scene from the 1970s to today’s hip-hop generation. The interviews range from the specifics of making music to the passions, regrets, memories, and hopes that give it life. While offering a view from some of Houston’s most marginalized areas, these intimate conversations lay out universal struggles and feelings. As Willie D of Geto Boys writes in the foreword, “Houston Rap Tapes flows more like a bunch of fellows who haven’t seen each other for ages, hanging out on the block reminiscing, rather than a calculated literary guide to Houston’s history.”
