At last, the sisters are reunited! The youngest Sinclair, the family “baby”, is moving from Maine to Cripple Creek, Colorado and joining Kat, Nell, and Ida. But Vivian is a young woman with a will of her own, and she made some decisions back in Portland that have begun to haunt her. Will she be able to live up to the expectations of her three perfect and now happily settled sisters? The sisters warmly welcome Vivian to the mountain west, but the wild-and-woolly mining town isn’t ripe with opportunities for a respectable young woman. The youngest Sinclair sister is determined to make her own way, so when she’s offered a job as a hostess in a sporting house, she takes it, thinking the position is appropriate for a tainted, unlovable woman like herself. Although she’s convinced she’ll never be asked to entertain privately, Vivian keeps her employment a secret from her sisters, knowing they’d be mortified—as will Carter Alwyn, the kind and godly sheriff ’s deputy who’s sweet on her. Vivian is descending into a life of secrets, lying to the very people who love her and could help her heal from her mistakes. Will an outpouring of grace remind her that she is still God’s beloved and that her past can be washed as clean as Rocky Mountain snow?

Book Synopsis The Count’s Millions by : Émile Gaboriau
Download or read book The Count’s Millions written by Émile Gaboriau and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-12-13 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Émile Gaboriau (November 9, 1832 - September 28, 1873) was a French writer, novelist, journalist, and a pioneer of detective fiction. His first detective novel, Monsieur Lecoq 1869, which featured an amateur detective and a young police officer (Monsieur Lecoq), was a success and the Lecoq was the hero in Gaboriau's 3 later detective novels. The character of Lecoq was based on a real-life thief turned police officer, Eugène François Vidocq (1775-1857), whose own memoirs, Les Vrais Mémoires de Vidocq, mixed fiction and fact. It may also have been influenced by the villainous Monsieur Lecoq, one of the main protagonists of Féval's Les Habits Noirs book series. Gaboriau was a pioneer and a great success in his time until Arthur Conan Doyle created Sherlock Holmes which diverted global attention from his Monsieur Lecoq. The story was produced on the stage in 1872. A long series of novels dealing with the annals of the police court followed, and proved very popular. Gaboriau died in Paris of pulmonary apoplexy.
Download or read book Deadly Ties written by Jaycee Clark and published by Beyond The Page. This book was released on 2011-08-16 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Deadly Ties is just an all-around amazing story. The suspense will have readers at the edge of their seats!” —Fallen Angel Reviews: Five Angels: Recommended Read Some bonds are love . . . Taylor Reese is done with men—especially egotistical ones—no matter how charming they may be. The only exception to her “no men” rule is her eight-year-old adopted son, Ryan, who is wonderfully adjusted considering the environment his parents forced him to endure. Both are starting over in the Washington, D.C., area and aren’t looking for anything more than peace and quiet. Thanks to Gavin Kinncaid, that peace and quiet is nothing more then a fleeting dream. Some ties can never be broken . . . Dr. Gavin Kinncaid, one of the most successful doctors in his field and well aware of it, knows women—or so he thinks, until he meets Taylor Reese and realizes he doesn’t know anything about the opposite sex. Taylor is nothing like any woman he’s ever met. More than that, she’s the only woman he’s ever wanted to strangle. But when fate throws them together on a rain-swept deserted road, passion soon twists their feelings into more than antagonism. First desire, then friendship, and finally love. And some bonds are deadly . . . As the three of them grow closer, learning to trust and building bonds none of them ever thought they’d have, a menace approaches. A menace that will destroy each of them and the bonds they've worked so hard to forge: Ryan's mother has escaped from prison, and she has only one plan—to rip this happy family apart and reclaim what she considers hers, no matter the cost.
Book Synopsis Among Hibiscus and Roses by : Sun-Hae Kim
Download or read book Among Hibiscus and Roses written by Sun-Hae Kim and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013-09 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A few years ago, Sun-Hae Kim met a female student at a British museum who was studying medieval women's social activities. She was unable to find information from women at that time because they didn't leave much in written form. She then looked around for some nurses' autobiographies and again found very little information available, even by Florence Nightingale. In response to this lack of personal writing from nurses, she presents Among Hibiscus and Roses, an account of her years as a nurse. She tells of the challenges of being an army nurse and of the fun times with her fellow nurses. She approached each new challenge with expectation and the hope that she would be helping more people. When she immigrated to the United States, she faced new cultures, languages, and social life; she met many new and interesting people. Throughout her transition, she was filled with wonder and excitement for her new life. Most importantly, she recounts the challenges and rewards of being a nurse for over thirty-seven years, in both South Korea and the United States. She lived proudly a life that was not old fashioned and yet still proved she could be happy and healthy without indulging in drugs, alcohol, sex, and gambling. Sharing the too-often-unheard story of a nurse, Among Hibiscus and Roses describes a unique and out-of-the-ordinary life journey.
