He was a POET of the NORTH. He wrote so many poems that we had to put them in several printed, paperback books. William McFarland lived from 1823 to 1887 in the USA. William McFarland was in the KANSAS UNION ARMY, Co. K, 13th Voluntary Regiment as a Sergeant for the Civil War. He fought for the NORTH. These poems are over 100 years old!!All these poems were written prior to 1887 but none of these were published or printed into a book and thus these are all ORIGINAL POEMS that are over 123 years old!!William McFarland was also a school teacher in Indiana, Kansas and Illinois. William McFarland also lived on a farm as his parents owned a farm. His poems are inspirational in nature and give us great hope. ORIGINAL IMAGES taken from the actual ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPT featuring the very same poems inside this book are also included. The reader can see for themselves the condition of the old paper and the actual original handwriting. This writer had such elegant and beautiful handwriting and he wrote using a QUILL PEN. How often can this be found now? How many poems can you find like this written in 1800s which have not yet been published in a printed book?These poems are NOT reproductions of ANY poem previously published by Wayside's family in a printed and published book. William McFarland is my great, great, great grandpa.These poems have been a family heirloom which was part of my family's legacy. The poetry was handed down from one generation to another and kept safe and protected. It was the dream of Wayside to have his works published into a book. However, Wayside never lived long enough to accomplish this task and so it has been a goal of mine to do this for him. I only wish that my ancestor would know that I was able to do this for him. Inside the book we have some images which were taken directly from the original handwriting of Wayside where these poems were written. What you see are actual original poems that were never before published along with many scanned images from the very same originals. These images and these poems are original poems that came from Wayside's poetry and they were never published before in a book.
