Im Jahr 1933 kam Adolf Hitler an die Macht, womit sich die Politik der Weimarer Republik in das diktatorische Regime des Nationalsozialismus entwickelte. Zu dieser Zeit spielte die Soziale Arbeit eine wesentliche Rolle. Während die Sozialarbeit noch in der Weimarer Republik als Wohlfahrtspflege/Fürsorge bekannt war, forcierte sich diese im Nationalsozialismus in die Volkspflege. Doch neben der Veränderung in der Sozialen Arbeit im Nationalsozialismus, erfolgte eine massive Reformierung der Familienpolitik in dieser Zeit, die drastische Auswirkungen auf die Erziehung von Kindern und das Leben in Familien nach sich zog. Somit wird in der Hausarbeit der Frage nachgegangen, welche Rolle und Funktion der Volkspflegerin und welche Bedeutung die Familie im Nationalsozialismus hatte. Dazu wird im ersten Teil der Arbeit die Geschichte und die Entwicklung der Sozialen Arbeit im Nationalsozialismus vorgestellt. Darin wird auf die Entstehung der Volkspflege eingegangen, worin die Situation der Fürsorge während des Faschismus dargestellt wird. Des Weiteren wird die daraus resultierende Volkspflege sowie der berufliche Werdegang der Frauen und dessen Berufsbedingungen erläutert. Im weiteren Verlauf des Kapitels folgt dann die Darstellung der Nationalsozialistischen Volkswohlfahrt (NSV). Infolgedessen wird verdeutlicht, welche Bedeutung die Familie zu dieser Zeit hatte. Dabei soll der Fokus konkret auf der Erziehung des Kindes und der Rollenverteilung in der Familie liegen. Abschließend folgt das Fazit. Für die weiteren Ausführungen innerhalb der vorliegenden Arbeit wird lediglich auf die Tätigkeit der Frauen eingegangen und der Begriff der Volkspflegerin (weibliche Form) verwendet, zumal die Fürsorgearbeit/Volkspflege, mit nahezu 90 % der Beschäftigten, in den Arbeitsbereich der Frauen fiel.
