Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gwen Andersen loves being a schoolteacher, but she isn’t exactly raking in the big bucks. With her bank account shrinking by the minute, she needs a well-paying summer job if she’s going to hold onto the childhood home she inherited from her parents. So when the father of one of her students asks her to fill in as his au pair for the summer, she knows she should be thrilled. Alexander Romanescu is loaded, and Gwen adores his daughter Isabella. Plus, they’re planning to spend the vacation at their ancestral estate—in Romania! And yet Gwen can’t shake the nagging feeling that saying yes to this man could lead to more than she bargained for. She knows so little about him—and the idea of spending six weeks in the land of Dracula and Vlad the Impaler is more than a little creepy. But the legends of Romania will be the least of her concerns if she doesn’t make some money…fast. And so Gwen says yes: yes to the job, yes to a European excursion…and yes to a summer that will change her path forever. With her trademark crackling dialogue, exotic locations, and knack for realistic characters, Beth Orsoff delivers an engrossing tale of love, intrigue, and betrayal. This is not your typical chick lit tale. This is something new. This is gothic chick lit.

Book excerpt: When the name Dracula is spoken, what image comes into your mind? Do you think of a bloodthirsty monster made up by an Irish story-teller who never stepped foot on Romanian soil? Or, do you think of a legendary fifteenth century hero of Romania who risked his life and fought courageously to take on the Ottoman empire to protect his land, his people, all of Europe, and all of Christianity? Since the age of 13, Amelia Justine Kari had a quest. Her quest was to one day take a trip to the beautiful lands of Romania, in search of the truth behind the mystery's of the real Prince Dracula. Once on Romanian soil, Amelia would find other forces already at work in search of her. Because of her career choice as a medical technician and her overwhelming fascination with the green eyed, black haired man called Prince Vladislaus Dracula, Amelia was always misunderstood. But, what if Vlad Dracula was also misunderstood? What if the pamphlets and documents written about him, were only made up to control him, use his power, and condemn him to prison? Amelia was determined to find the truth, but she'd have to search deep in her soul to find all the answers.

Book excerpt: The fifteenth century Romanian Prince Vlad III Dracula, also known as Vlad the Impaler, is one of the most fascinating personalities of medieval history. Already during his own lifetime, his true story became obscured by a veil of myths. As a result, he has been portrayed both as a bloody tyrant — who degenerated down throughout the centuries into the fictional vampire of the same name created by Bram Stoker at the end of the nineteenth century — and as a national and Christian hero who bravely fought to defend his native land and all of Europe against the invading Turkish infidels. Even in more recent historiography, the true history of Dracula has been obscured by Communist and nationalist historiography.

Book excerpt: Vlad’s Disciples is a book about a cult that worships Vlad the Impaler and believes in the vampiric legends surrounding him. This cult believes that by ritualistically sacrificing people and drinking their blood on the first night of the full moon, they will achieve immortality. After sacrificing their victims, the cult revels in the night with BDSM practices as they were recruited by the leader of their cult, the mayor of Boston, from various BDSM clubs around the state. The book culminates in this group sacrificing two of their own to achieve immortality and having a party at which their leader reveals the new identities that he has set up for each of them around the globe. However, unknown to the leader, a member of his elite inner circle lost his submissive the day before in a car accident. Disillusioned and let down when he realizes that they are not immortal, the man confronts the leader at a party he throws for the cult two days after they all “achieved” their immortality, only to find out that the leader knew all along that they were still mortal and had poisoned everyone at the party. Feeling betrayed, the man shoots and kills the leader before turning the gun on himself. The police, responding to the calls of shots fired, find everyone dead and a letter in the pocket of the man who had gone to confront the leader, confessing the entire story. Odd-numbered chapters in the book detail the sacrifices that this cult makes and their BDSM revelations. Even numbered chapters detail the police investigation and other goings-on in the story.

Book excerpt: It is four o'clock in the morning on March 28, 1979, when a meltdown began at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant. As people sleep peacefully, unafraid of the smoking cement towers looming in the background, radioactive material is released into the environment and the Susquehanna River. Repeatedly reassured that they are not in any danger, most go on with their daily lives, including the residents of a rural town just a few miles away. But no one knows that Lloydsville is about to pay a hefty price for the sins of their nuclear neighbor. 30 years later, after an experimental popcorn crop is unintentionally irrigated with the radioactive river water, the corn mutates, wreaking havoc on Lloydsville. As two-headed frogs, fish with leg-like appendages, and aggressive insects invade the town with increasing frequency, the corn in Experimental Field 312 grows exceptionally large. Meanwhile Susan, a seasoned nurse, tries to shake off the feeling that something is terribly wrong. But as a bizarre chain of events unfolds, she realizes her intuition is spot on. In this science fiction tale, Susan and her family must find a way to kill the corn and bring an end to the nightmare--before it is too late for a tiny farm town and its people.

Finally after Bram Stocker`s century old success, we have in our hands the true story behind the myth of Dracula. Extremely well documented, and using many of the era`s sources, this historical novel brings to light a long forgotten story that shaped Europe more than 500 years ago. Compared by some with The Three Musketeers, and by others with The Lord Of The Rings, The Engraved Chest Of Time is a fascinating true tale of insane acts of bravery, endless love and supernatural devotion to an ideal! Surprisingly there is just as much blood as in Stocker`s book, more action and surely more suspense. And surprisingly there is no vampire. Or is there? Dr David Scott Ph.D, FRSA David Scot is an internationally published author, travel book writer and journalist. He has numerous books and articles on food, travel and comparative religion to his name.

And, he sometimes gets a little too enthusiastic in his job doing collections for local bookies—so, sometimes, he loves to hurt people. Told in the first person, Uncle Dust is a fascinating noir look inside the mind of a hard, yet very complicated criminal. Rob Pierce has been nominated for a Derringer Award for short crime fiction, and has had his stories published in Flash Fiction Offensive, Pulp Modern, Plots With Guns, Revolt Daily, Near to the Knuckle, and Shotgun Honey. The editor of Swill Magazine, he lives in Oakland, California, with his wife and two children. He is equally comfortable taking romantic walks on the beach or dumping the body elsewhere. Praise for UNCLE DUST: “The story and dialogue in Uncle Dust capture much of the circumstance of prison life in all its squalid glory. Made me wish I’d done time with tough guy Dustin. I thoroughly enjoyed our criminal hero’s mind as he observed the world, and himself, through a cynical thief’s lens. And I think you will too.” —Joe Loya, author of The Man Who Outgrew His Prison Cell: Confessions of a Bank Robber
