Book Synopsis Viscous Flow Interaction Studies by : Robert H. Korkegi
Download or read book Viscous Flow Interaction Studies written by Robert H. Korkegi and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research was designed to gain understanding of the flow of air at high speeds over the components of lifting supersonic and hypersonic vehicles--wings, flaps, fins, inlets--and their interactions with respect to heating, surface friction, pressure, and aerodynamic forces. The objective was to help predict (a) flows on complex aerospace vehicle configurations in high-speed flight and (b) the location of areas of high heating. The research covers the areas of laminar and turbulent boundary layers, boundary layer transition, boundary layer separation, base flows and wakes, low density flows, three-dimensional interactions, viscous flow problems, and some flow measurement techniques.
Book Synopsis Viscous Flow Applications by : Carlos A. Brebbia
Download or read book Viscous Flow Applications written by Carlos A. Brebbia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-12 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boundary Element Method has now become a powerful tool of engineering analysis and is routinely applied for the solution of elastostatics and potential problems. More recently research has concentrated on solving a large variety of non-linear and time dependent applications and in particular the method has been developed for viscous fluid flow problems. This book presents the state of the art on the solution of viscous flow using boundary elements and discusses different current approaches which have been validated by numerical experiments. . Chapter 1 of the book presents a brief review of previous work on viscous flow simulation and in particular gives an up-to-date list of the most important BEM references in the field. Chapter 2 reviews the governing equations for general viscous flow, including compressibility. The authors present a compre hensive treatment of the different cases and their formulation in terms of boundary integral equations. This work has been the result of collaboration between Computational Mechanics Institute of Southampton and Massa chusetts Institute of Technology researchers. Chapter 3 describes the gen eralized formulation for unsteady viscous flow problems developed over many years at Georgia Institute of Technology. This formulation has been extensively applied to solve aer09ynamic problems.

Download or read book Viscous Flows written by Ahmer Mehmood and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-04-22 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This authored monograph provides a detailed discussion of the boundary layer flow due to a moving plate. The topical focus lies on the 2- and 3-dimensional case, considering axially symmetric and unsteady flows. The author derives a criterion for the self-similar and non-similar flow, and the turbulent flow due to a stretching or shrinking sheet is also discussed. The target audience primarily comprises research experts in the field of boundary layer flow, but the book will also be beneficial for graduate students.
Book Synopsis Free Boundaries in Viscous Flows by : Robert A. Brown
Download or read book Free Boundaries in Viscous Flows written by Robert A. Brown and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is increasingly the case that models of natural phenomena and materials processing systems involve viscous flows with free surfaces. These free boundaries are interfaces of the fluid with either second immiscible fluids or else deformable solid boundaries. The deformation can be due to mechanical displacement or as is the case here, due to phase transformation; the solid can melt or freeze. This volume highlights a broad range of subjects on interfacial phenomena. There is an overview of the mathematical description of viscous free-surface flows, a description of the current understanding of mathematical issues that arise in these models and a discussion of high-order-accuracy boundary-integral methods for the solution of viscous free surface flows. There is the mathematical analysis of particular flows: long-wave instabilities in viscous-film flows, analysis of long-wave instabilities leading to Marangoni convection, and de§ scriptions of the interaction of convection with morphological stability during directional solidification. This book is geared toward anyone with an interest in free-boundary problems, from mathematical analysts to material scientists; it will be useful to applied mathematicians, physicists, and engineers alike.
