Book Synopsis Flute Sight-Reading 1 by : John Kember
Download or read book Flute Sight-Reading 1 written by John Kember and published by Schott Music. This book was released on 2020-08-07 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flute Sight-Reading 1 aims to establish good practice and provide an early introduction to the essential skill of sight-reading. Sight-reading in some form should become a regular part of a student's routine each time they get out the flute, and this book aims to establish the habit early in a student's learning process. There are 8 sections, which in a logical sequence gradually introduce new notes, rhythms, articulations, dynamics and Italian terms - much as you would find in a beginner's flute method. The emphasis is on providing idiomatic tunes and structures rather than sterile sight-reading exercises. Each section contains several solo examples, beginning with only three notes, and concludes with duets and accompanied pieces, allowing the student to gain experience of sight-reading within the context of ensemble playing.

Book Synopsis 300 Progressive Sight Reading Exercises for Cello by : Robert Anthony
Download or read book 300 Progressive Sight Reading Exercises for Cello written by Robert Anthony and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-06-25 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume Two starts out rhythmically simpler than Volume One ends, and then - of course - progresses to a more difficult level, adding dynamic markings, expanding the key signatures to C, G, F, D, Bb, A, Eb, E, Ab Major and their relative minor keys and modes, and adding the time signatures 3/8 and 9/8 into the mix. Instructions and a free preview are available in pdf form at the Robert Anthony Publishing website. Like in Volume One, the exercises are all eight measures (two phrases, or one period) in length. While they are composed to be melodic and pleasant to the ear, they are also composed to be difficult to memorize, and utilize many rhythms that seem to be absent from other sight reading books. Next, I have made the staff font slightly larger than standard. While this will largely go unnoticed in the printed version of this book, it should make the electronic versions significantly easier to read. Finally, there are many correct ways to use this book. The instructions and a preview in pdf form are posted on my website so that I can update the instructions as I discover additional strategies. For example, I sometimes receive emails in which people tell me how they like to use this book. My opinions will evolve the more I use this book to train my students, so I want the ability to easily update the instructions as needed. The link for the pdf download will be directly below the picture of the cover of this book. Instructional videos supporting this book will be posted, as they are created, in the same place.

Book excerpt: Sight-reading is an important aspect of making music and should in some form become a regular part of a student's routine each time they play their instrument. Regular sight-reading helps the pupil to gain greater confidence when approaching any new piece of music for the first time. Schott's Sight-Reading books aims to establish the habit early in every student's learning process and the emphasis is on providing idiomatic tunes and structures for the specific instruments rather than sterile sight-reading exercises. Starting from very easy pieces with familiar shapes and rhythms, the range of notes, keys and rhythms gradually develops. In addition to this, each section of the books concludes with duets and accompanied pieces allowing the student to gain experience of sight-reading within the context of ensemble playing. Accompaniment exercises can be found at the end of the piano books.
