Book Synopsis Vedic Index of Names and Subjects, Vol. 2 (Classic Reprint) by : Arthur Anthony Macdonell
Download or read book Vedic Index of Names and Subjects, Vol. 2 (Classic Reprint) written by Arthur Anthony Macdonell and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-28 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Vedic Index of Names and Subjects, Vol. 2 Purfi-pavas is the name of a hero in a hymn of the Rigveda1 containing a curious dialogue between him and a nymph, Urvasi, an Apsaras. He is also mentioned in the Satapatha Brithmana,2 where several verses of the Rigvedic dialogue find a setting in a continuous story. In the later literature he is recognized as a king.3 His name is perhaps intended in one other passage of the Rigveda.4 It is impossible to say whether he is a mythical figure pure and simple, or really an ancient king. His epithet, Aila,5 'descendant of Ida' (a sacrificial goddess), is certainly in favour of the former alternative. Download or read book Rig Veda written by Devajyoti Sarkar and published by Vamra Vaikhanasa Publishing. This book was released on 2022-07-27 with total page 2623 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A translation of the complete Rig Veda into English with a state-of-the-art search and discovery capability. This is the first Digital Book that aims to answer the question - "What is in the Rig Veda and where do I find it?" The Vedic heritage, and the Rig Veda in particular, is the foundation of Hinduism. Yoga, Dharma, Spirituality and so much of what defines Indian thought and culture today, derive from it. It was composed by famous Rishis who are household names, and yet, for many of us, its contents still remain a mystery. This book hopes to make the Rig Veda a little more accessible. Horace Hayman Wilson wrote the first translation of the Rig Veda into English. His work is notable because it consciously tries to be true to the ancient sources. It is an important work of scholarship that this ebook hopes to preserve and extend. This is the first Digital version of Wilson's work. It converts all the six volumes into a single, easy to carry ebook. It then embeds a state of the art search capability using AI and NLP. It extends this with Serendipity, to help us discover what maybe relevant even when we are not sure what to look for. This work aims to be your reference of choice when you are looking for something in the Rig Veda. It also includes an Introduction where you can find some important Suktas and references, Rishi families and their compositions, elements of Vedic tradition like Danastutis and Apri Suktas, and much more.

Book Synopsis Death of a Moneylender by : Kota Neelima
Download or read book Death of a Moneylender written by Kota Neelima and published by Penguin UK. This book was released on 2016-05-08 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Falak, a young journalist from Delhi, is assigned to a remote village in south-central India where a moneylender is found dead, hung from a lamppost in front of his house by an entire village united against injustice. Falak coldly hunts the story for a page one byline, unconcerned with corrective conscience, an attitude that cost him his relationship with Vani, a rival newspaper journalist. Within hours of reaching the village, his story is ready; a villainous moneylender killed by long-suffering villagers. But Falak has also unearths a disconcerting fact, that the moneylender was a kind-hearted, generous man whose death was being used to intimidate other moneylenders. Outstanding loans are written off to buy peace with villagers, but the politically well-connected and dangerous moneylenders plan a brutal retribution.
