Book Synopsis Algorithmic Foundations of Robotics XV by : Steven M. LaValle
Download or read book Algorithmic Foundations of Robotics XV written by Steven M. LaValle and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-12-14 with total page 573 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes significant recent research on robotic algorithms. It has been written by leading experts in the field. The 15th Workshop on the Algorithmic Foundations of Robotics (WAFR) was held on June 22–24, 2022, at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland. Each chapter represents an exciting state-of-the-art development in robotic algorithms that was presented at this 15th incarnation of WAFR. Different chapters combine ideas from a wide variety of fields, spanning and combining planning (for tasks, paths, motion, navigation, coverage, and patrol), computational geometry and topology, control theory, machine learning, formal methods, game theory, information theory, and theoretical computer science. Many of these papers explore new and interesting problems and problem variants that include human–robot interaction, planning and reasoning under uncertainty, dynamic environments, distributed decision making, multi-agent coordination, and heterogeneity.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intersection theory has played a central role in mathematics, from the ancient origins of algebraic geometry in the solutions of polynomial equations to the triumphs of algebraic geometry during the last two centuries. This book develops the foundations of the theory and indicates the range of classical and modern applications. The hardcover edition received the prestigious Steele Prize in 1996 for best exposition.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the ancient origins of algebraic geometry in the solution of polynomial equations, through the triumphs of algebraic geometry during the last two cen turies, intersection theory has played a central role. Since its role in founda tional crises has been no less prominent, the lack of a complete modern treatise on intersection theory has been something of an embarrassment. The aim of this book is to develop the foundations of intersection theory, and to indicate the range of classical and modern applications. Although a comprehensive his tory of this vast subject is not attempted, we have tried to point out some of the striking early appearances of the ideas of intersection theory. Recent improvements in our understanding not only yield a stronger and more useful theory than previously available, but also make it possible to devel op the subject from the beginning with fewer prerequisites from algebra and algebraic geometry. It is hoped that the basic text can be read by one equipped with a first course in algebraic geometry, with occasional use of the two appen dices. Some of the examples, and a few of the later sections, require more spe cialized knowledge. The text is designed so that one who understands the con structions and grants the main theorems of the first six chapters can read other chapters separately. Frequent parenthetical references to previous sections are included for such readers. The summaries which begin each chapter should fa cilitate use as a reference.
Book Synopsis Representations of *-Algebras, Locally Compact Groups, and Banach *-Algebraic Bundles by : J. M.G. Fell
Download or read book Representations of *-Algebras, Locally Compact Groups, and Banach *-Algebraic Bundles written by J. M.G. Fell and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1988-05-01 with total page 755 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an all-encompassing and exhaustive exposition of the theory of infinite-dimensional Unitary Representations of Locally Compact Groups and its generalization to representations of Banach algebras. The presentation is detailed, accessible, and self-contained (except for some elementary knowledge in algebra, topology, and abstract measure theory). In the later chapters the reader is brought to the frontiers of present-day knowledge in the area of Mackey normal subgroup analysisand its generalization to the context of Banach *-Algebraic Bundles.
Book Synopsis Quantum Mechanics by : Gregory L. Naber
Download or read book Quantum Mechanics written by Gregory L. Naber and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-09-20 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work covers quantum mechanics by answering questions such as where did the Planck constant and Heisenberg algebra come from, what motivated Feynman to introduce his path integral and why does one distinguish two types of particles, the bosons and fermions. The author addresses all these topics with utter mathematical rigor. The high number of instructive Appendices and numerous Remark sections supply the necessary background knowledge.
Book Synopsis Characteristic Classes by : John Willard Milnor
Download or read book Characteristic Classes written by John Willard Milnor and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 1974 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of characteristic classes provides a meeting ground for the various disciplines of differential topology, differential and algebraic geometry, cohomology, and fiber bundle theory. As such, it is a fundamental and an essential tool in the study of differentiable manifolds. In this volume, the authors provide a thorough introduction to characteristic classes, with detailed studies of Stiefel-Whitney classes, Chern classes, Pontrjagin classes, and the Euler class. Three appendices cover the basics of cohomology theory and the differential forms approach to characteristic classes, and provide an account of Bernoulli numbers. Based on lecture notes of John Milnor, which first appeared at Princeton University in 1957 and have been widely studied by graduate students of topology ever since, this published version has been completely revised and corrected.

Book Synopsis Elementary Theory by : Richard V. Kadison
Download or read book Elementary Theory written by Richard V. Kadison and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of the Theory of Operator Algebras, Volume I: Elementary Theory provides information pertinent to the fundamental aspects of the theory of operator algebras. This book discusses the finite-dimensional linear algebra. Organized into five chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the fundamental aspects of linear functional analysis that are needed in the study of operator algebras. This text then discusses the continuous linear operators, continuous linear functionals, weak topologies, and convexity in the context of linear topological spaces. Other chapters consider the elementary geometry of Hilbertspaces and the simplest properties of Hilbert space operators. This book discusses as well algebras that have a Banach-space structure relative to which the multiplication is continuous. The final chapter deals with those C*-algebras that are strong-operator closed in their action on some Hilbert space, which play a fundamental role in the subject. This book is a valuable resource for mathematicians.

Book Synopsis Treatise on Analysis by : J. Dieudonné
Download or read book Treatise on Analysis written by J. Dieudonné and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treatise on Analysis, Volume 10–VIII provides information pertinent to the study of the most common boundary problems for partial differential equations. This book presents the study of Cauchy's problem in its most elementary form. Comprised of one chapter, this volume begins with an overview of Hilbert-von Neumann spectral theory and explores all possible boundary conditions related to spectral theory. This text then examines the link of Cauchy's problem with the behavior of the equation's characteristics. This book discusses as well the case of linear elliptic operators. The reader is also introduced to Sobolev spaces and some of their generalizations that provide an essential tool in the study of these elliptic problems, and their manipulation requires delicate upper bounds to obtain the best possible results. This book is a valuable resource for mathematicians.
