Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LES APPORTS ENERGETIQUES DES SUJETS AGES AUSSI BIEN HOSPITALISES QU'INSTITUTIONNALISES SONT TRES INFERIEURS AUX RECOMMANDATIONS. LA BAISSE IMPORTANTE DES PROTEINES MARQUEURS DE L'ETAT NUTRITIONNEL (ALBUMINE ET TRANSTHYRETINE) OBSERVEE CHEZ LES SUJETS AGES HOSPITALISES EST DUE A LEUR DENUTRITION PROTEINO-ENERGETIQUE MAIS EGALEMENT A LEUR ETAT INFECTIEUX ET/OU INFLAMMATOIRE. CERTAINES APOLIPOPROTEINES (APO AI, AII, B, CIII) POURRAIENT ETRE DES MARQUEURS SENSIBLES DE L'ETAT PROTEINO-ENERGETIQUE. NOUS PROPOSONS QUE CES APO SOIENT PRISES EN COMPTE DANS L'EVALUATION DE L'ETAT NUTRITIONNEL DE LA PERSONNE AGEE, D'AUTANT QUE LEURS LIAISONS AUX PROTEINES DE LA REACTION INFLAMMATOIRE PARAISSENT ATTRIBUABLES UNIQUEMENT A LEUR FORTE RELATION AVEC LES PROTEINES MARQUEURS DE L'ETAT NUTRITIONNEL. LES INGESTA ENERGETIQUES ET LES INGESTA EN ZINC SONT EN DESSOUS DES RECOMMANDATIONS CHEZ LES SUJETS TEMOINS ET SONT SIGNIFICATIVEMENT PLUS BAS CHEZ LES SUJETS MAIGRES. APRES UNE SUPPLEMENTATION JOURNALIERE DE 20 MG DE ZINC PENDANT DEUX MOIS, NOUS OBSERVONS DANS LES DEUX GROUPES (TEMOINS ET MAIGRES) UNE AUGMENTATION DE LA CONCENTRATION SERIQUE DE ZINC, DES PROTEINES MARQUEURS DE L'ETAT NUTRITIONNEL (ALBUMINE ET TRANSTHYRETINE), DU NIVEAU DES INGESTA AINSI QUE LA RESTAURATION DE L'ACTIVITE BIOLOGIQUE DE LA THYMULINE. DES RESULTATS SIMILAIRES SONT OBSERVES CHEZ LA SOURIS AGEES, CEPENDANT LES INGESTA ENERGETIQUES NE SONT PAS MODIFIES NI AU COURS DU VIEILLISSEMENT NI PAR UNE SUPPLEMENTATION EN ZINC
Book Synopsis Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment by : Alberto Pilotto
Download or read book Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment written by Alberto Pilotto and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-29 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an up-to-date review on the principles and practice of multidimensional assessment and management of the older individual, which represents the cornerstone of modern clinical practice in the elderly. The early chapters cover the main elements and scope of the comprehensive geriatric approach and explain the pathways of care from screening and case finding through to in-depth assessment and treatment planning. Subsequent chapters review the evidence of how best to apply the multidimensional assessment and management approach in defined healthcare settings and within specific clinical areas, such as cancer and surgery. Finally, the education and training challenges are reviewed and the prospects for future clinical service and research in this important field are examined. The book is very timely given the recent advances in application of this approach, which reflect the growing international realization that older people are “core business” in many clinical areas where the role of specialist geriatric medicine has hitherto been limited. Accordingly, the book will be relevant to a wide range of clinicians. The authorship comprises many of the best known and widely published experts in their respective fields.

Book Synopsis Thyroid Autoimmunity by : A. Pinchera
Download or read book Thyroid Autoimmunity written by A. Pinchera and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1956, three groups independently reported evidence that some thyroid disease appearing spontaneously in humans or experimentally induced in animals are related to autoimmune processes. The interval between these landmark discoveries and the present has witnessed a remarkable and continuing growth of both knowledge and concepts concerning the mechanisms of immune regulation, the pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroid diseases, and their clinical and laboratory manifestations. More importantly knowledge of thyroid autoimmunity has, in many respects, comprised the vanguard of an ever increasing appreciation and understanding of autoimmune diseases in general. On November 24-26 1986, an International Symposium on Thyroid Autoimmunity was held in Pisa. Its purpose was to commemorate the birth of thyroid autoimmunity as a scientific discipline, to summarize current knowledge and concepts in this area, and where possible, to anticipate areas of opportunity for the future - hence the theme of the Symposium, Memories and Perspectives. To open the meeting, the Magnifico Rettore (Chancellor) of the University of Pisa granted special Awards to Dr. Deborah Doniach, Dr. Ivan Roitt, and Dr. Noel R. Rose, who published the first fundamental studies in the field of thyroid autoimmunity, and to Dr. Duncan G. Adams, whose discovery of the long-acting thyroid stimulator (LATS) opened the door to our current understanding of the pathogenesis of Graves' disease. During the meeting thirty plenary lectures were presented.

Book excerpt: Présentation de l'éditeur : "The interactions between law and culture in addressing the legal problems at the end of a life are currently being discussed in many countries. The discourse on this issue should be multidisciplinary, taking into account its legal, medical, ethical, philosophical and anthropological aspects. The concepts designed to manage the legal problems that occur when a life comes to an end are closely linked to the culture of each country. For this reason, countries with different cultural backgrounds have been selected for this comparative end-of-life study. In France, Germany and Italy, which have a continental legal system, the United Kingdom, which has a common law system, and India, the various religions and cultures exert an important influence on the modernisation of the legislation in this respect. The book deals with recent legislative changes and developments in the countries surveyed."
