Book excerpt: Notre pratique personnelle de la danse et l'importance croissante de la danse-thérapie, notamment aux Etats-Unis nous a incitée à réaliser ce type d'expérience avec nos propres patients. A partir de là, nous tentons d'élaborer une réflexion théorique sur l'abord thérapeutique par le corps en psychiatrie. Dans une perspective psychopathologique, nous rappelons ce qui définit le concept d'image du corps et nous dégageons ce que semble produire au niveau de l'inconscient du sujet la dynamique corporelle dans la danse. La restauration du narcissisme en est l'élément clé, dans le phénomène du miroir constitué par le regard de l'autre, en ayant soin d'insérer la danse dans l'ordre symbolique par l'utilisation de la parole. Nous dépassons l'abord psychanalytique du corps par la phénoménologie en rejoignant le pont de vue métapsychologique de Monsieur Fédida qui souligne la compléxité essentielle du corps. Nous insistons sur les origines sacrées de la danse, voyant là un des éléments essentiels qui lui permettent d'inscrire le sujet dans la fonction symbolique. Nous terminons en relativisant les résultats de notre expérience par l'abord comparé du statut du corps dans différentes sociétés. Nous pensons ainsi que l'effet thérapeutique que l'on peut attendre d'une danse-thérapie serait supérieur à celui que nous constatons en Occident si le corps y était moins enfermé dans la jouissance.
