Download or read book My Clan written by Lynette S. Price and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2022-08-12 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives the reader an insight into each member of a large household - sixteen people in all. The grandmother, the parents and their nine children, an aunt, uncle and cousin and a gay boarder. It spans five generations and shows what life was like for people in the early part of the 20th century. The grandmother, born in 1894, saw two world wars and the subsequent depressions and lost family in WWI. It shows how the grandmother was in a difficult marriage and ultimately got divorced in 1920's and life as a sole parent during that time. The father and the uncle were both in the army in WWII and gives a little insight into what they went through. It tells of school days in catholic schools and the abuse suffered there by the author and her siblings. The author tells about her life as being a victim/survivor of domestic violence and speaks of her depression. Each member of the family is unique and their stories are very real. It also shows a lot of love and support for each other and shows how multiple strong personalities can all live together. In this book you will see how my grandmother, born in 1894, came to be disowned by her father in 1915. How my mother became a state ward and the physical and mental abuse she suffered in the 1930's. Although in this book you will see incidences of bullying, abandonment, drug abuse and many other issues, you will also see that, for the most part, how each one has come through it all in this very functional dysfunctional family.

Book Synopsis Waterfall: Don't Look Down by : Elizabeth Armstrong
Download or read book Waterfall: Don't Look Down written by Elizabeth Armstrong and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-10-25 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Waterfall: Don't Look Down is not a step-by-step how-to book for marriage restoration. It's really just 66,000 words that could simply be summed up with, "Shut up and let me fix this. Love, God." Waterfall: Don't Look Down was written for the woman who just found out her husband cheated or the man who had to listen to his wife say, "I love you, but I'm not in love with you." Its purpose is to give biblical hope to the desperately lonely Christian who wants to stay in a broken marriage when the world says to run away. The Christian who has just been betrayed or abandoned needs to understand God hates divorce and his promise and plan is to heal broken homes. That person needs to know if they submit themselves and their marriage restoration to Jesus, it won't be easy. It may actually be almost impossible . . . almost! I'm a Christian woman who decided to allow Jesus to fix the mess my husband and I created in our marriage. Using journal entries I kept after finding out about my husband's affair, allows the reader a uniquely transparent view of the ugly journey to self-accountability, forgiveness, and marriage restoration. The journals also highlight non-fiction events where I was allowed to witness God's communication in ways that cannot be excused away as coincidental. I got to feel his presence, see his interventions, hear his voice, and witness his miracles. My only purpose in writing this book is to let hurting spouses know they have a choice. They can either allow Satan the opportunity to finish what they started by destroying their marriage, home, and family or give the whole mess over to Jesus and then just pray, shut up, and wait. Hurting Christians know Jesus is the answer, but they are desperately seeking someone to tell them the blessings are worth the pain and the wait. Waterfall: Don't Look Down can do just that.

Book Synopsis Quantum Change by : William R. Miller
Download or read book Quantum Change written by William R. Miller and published by Guilford Press. This book was released on 2011-10-21 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of us walk through each day expecting few surprises. If we want to better ourselves or our lives, we map out a path of gradual change, perhaps in counseling or psychotherapy. Psychologists William Miller and Janet C'de Baca were longtime scholars and teachers of traditional approaches to self-improvement when they became intrigued by a different sort of change that was sometimes experienced by people they encountered--something often described as "a bolt from the blue" or "seeing the light." And when they placed a request in a local newspaper for people's stories of unexpected personal transformation, the deluge of responses was astounding. These compelling stories of epiphanies and sudden insights inspired Miller and C'de Baca to examine the experience of "quantum change" through the lens of scientific psychology. Where does quantum change come from? Why do some of us experience it, and what kind of people do we become as a result? The answers that this book arrives at yield remarkable insights into how human beings achieve lasting change--sometimes even in spite of ourselves.
