Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An electric collection of new short stories from the inimitable, bestselling writer of Talk to Me and Outside Looking In In the title story of Walk Between the Raindrops, a woman sits down next to a man at a bar and claims she has ESP. In “Thirteen Days,” passengers on a cruise line are quarantined, to horrifying and hilarious effect. And “Hyena” begins simply: “That was the day the hyena came for him, and never mind that there were no hyenas in the South of France, and especially not in Pont-Saint-Esprit—it was there and it came for him.” A virtuoso of the short form, T.C. Boyle returns with an inventive, uproarious, and masterfully told collection of short stories characterized by biting satire, resonant wit, and a boundless, irrepressible imagination.

Book excerpt: We need to tell our story so others will benefit. What have you been through that will help someone facing the same problem? God allows the storms to give us opportunity to discover who He is. He wants us to know He is always with us even during our darkest hours of life. God has snatched many of us from bad situations, keeping us out of jails, hospitals, mental institutions or safe from certain death. We don't mind acknowledging Him when we are in need, but after our storms are over we never tell others that the Lord helped us. How do we expect unbelievers to call on Him for help in a storm if we never share Him with others? Our story or testimonies make a world of difference in others' lives. Some could be enduring what you have already been through, looking for a way out. Can you help? Are you willing to tell them how God helped you? Our testimony gives God the glory for our lives. I have seen many people on television that were miraculously saved from a disaster or an incurable illness who gave the credit to "luck." God is the Master Mind and organizer of life. I've learn it is a privilege and honor to be given opportunity to share His amazing love and power and at the same time give someone else the opportunity to know Him. God desires all the glory from our lives, because our story is His-story (History). When has "luck" or anyone else crucified, died and rose again to save the world from sin and eternal damnation. If more believers would simply share with others what God has done for them, more hurting people would have something solid to lean on. We all know there is nothing as solid as God. If believers don't tell, then who will?

Book excerpt: From cloud to puddle, and puddle to stream, the Little Raindrop is making its way on the remarkable journey that is Earth’s water cycle. In this inviting story—illustrated with pastels for a soft, full color—readers are taught about science and nature through a character driven narrative that leads a little raindrop on a big adventure. With an easy to follow plot that teaches precipitation, water flow, and evaporation, The Little Raindrop offers a sweet story full of learning and discovery. Featuring a heartwarming adventure from author Joanna Gray, and beautiful pastel illustrations by Dubravka Kolanovic, The Little Raindrop takes readers on a fun and educational ride through the water cycle. This is a wonderful introduction for children ages 3 to 6 about the water cycle. They will instantly connect with the cute, smiling little raindrop as it starts its journey in the clouds. The author gives wonderful, age-appropriate explanations and details about the raindrop's journey from air to pond to stream to ocean and back into the air again, making this a wonderful first introduction to science for preschoolers. Parents will appreciate the educational value of the book, as will early educational teachers. This is the type of picture book Scholastic Book Clubs and Fairs are wanting and so it should definitely have a great reception in the school and library market, as well as the general trade. Sky Pony Press, with our Good Books, Racehorse and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of books for young readers—picture books for small children, chapter books, books for middle grade readers, and novels for young adults. Our list includes bestsellers for children who love to play Minecraft; stories told with LEGO bricks; books that teach lessons about tolerance, patience, and the environment, and much more. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

Book excerpt: The long-awaited autobiography of one of the world's greatest children's writers, and an empowering and inspiring account of a life in books. Malorie Blackman OBE is one of Britain's best loved and most widely-read writers. For over thirty years, her books have helped to shape British culture, and inspired generations of younger readers and writers. The Noughts and Crosses series, started in 2000, sparked a new and necessary conversation about race and identity in the UK, and are already undisputed classics of twenty-first-century children's literature. She is also a writer whose own life has been shaped by books, from her childhood in south London, the daughter of parents who moved to Britain from Barbados as part of the Windrush Generation, and who experienced a childhood that was both wonderful and marred by the everyday racism and bigotry of the era. She was told she could not apply to study her first love, literature, at university, in spite of her academic potential, but found a way to books and to a life in writing against a number of obstacles. This book is an account of that journey, from a childhood surrounded by words, to the 83 rejection letters she received in response to sending out her first project, to the children's laureateship. It explores the books who have made her who she is, and the background to some the most beloved and powerful children's stories of today. It is an illuminating, inspiring and empowering account of the power of words to change lives, and the extraordinary life story of one of the world's greatest writers.
