Download or read book Untangled written by Joy Rudder and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-05-25 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Untangled takes the reader on a swirling tour of some of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean but also of the region's gruesome history. The eye of love searches the landscape in the wake of colonialism and the grim traffic of bodies and souls across the Middle Passage. Evoking everything from birdcalls to colorful festivals, missionaries' blunders to tasty traditional feasts, Joy Rudder is intimately knowledgeable of her home, which spans the entire Caribbean. She voices heartbreaking questions that most do not venture to ask. But her pain is transformed into poetry, her outrage into prayer. She finds that Christ has preceded her and is very present in her multi-ethnic, multi-religious native Trinidad. Christ is also present in her adopted home, politically correct and trendy Vancouver, on the west coast of Canada. She discovers love in unusual places, delights in friendships with strangers, and kneels to worship in a frat house bathroom. She muses on the grandeur of natural places she has been privileged to see in North America and the Caribbean, yet she unearths disturbing visions. In the end, she finds peace at the last, beyond her troubled quests, in the lived reality of hope.

Download or read book Untangled written by Carey Scott and published by Revell. This book was released on 2015-05-26 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All women want to feel is valued. But problems arise when we seek confirmation that we are enough using the world's standards. Almost from birth, we are trained to find the approval and acceptance we crave in the eyes of family, friends, and even strangers. The result is that we cannot believe we are who God says we are--accepted, loved, beautiful, and treasured. We get tangled up in the world's assessment and our own self-judgment. With hope-filled writing and plenty of hard-won personal advice, Carey Scott shows women how to untangle their self-esteem from the world and anchor it in Jesus. She lovingly shows readers that God was intentional in how he made them and that he is well pleased with his work. Women will learn practical strategies to escape unattainable standards and the performance-based measuring stick of the world, and find comfort in the fact that they are not alone on the journey.
Book Synopsis A Town Untangled by : S. Sully D. S. Sully
Download or read book A Town Untangled written by S. Sully D. S. Sully and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2009-12 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No matter how mediocre or mundane, all hometowns have a storied past; neither mine nor yours is an exception. Be forewarned that you will encounter organized crime, religious strife, environmental disaster, romantic heartbreak, cultural chaos, and communal calamity, so, just deal with it! Historically accurate rather than politically correct, these harrowing accounts might raise a few hackles, foster a gaggle of goose bumps, and rekindle awkward moments. This saga begins in an old main street mansion serving as a childhood home. It then progresses to the parochial cultivation of church and school. Next are the peer-pressure pathways through the surrounding neighborhoods. And last, this journey meanders beyond the outskirts where anything can happen. Maybe we have something in common. There's a possibility that eccentric elders, spooky neighbors, and mysterious others existed where you grew up. Perhaps reclusive cemeteries, moonshiners, and brothels remained discreet while overindulged citizens, oversized cops, and over-zealous teachers got plenty of attention. And for sure, at least one local residence served as a sideshow salvage yard. Although you may have outgrown your hometown, its cockamamie collection of memories continues to reside in your mind and soul. These recollections will now be triggered by venturing into A Town Untangled.
Download or read book Untangle My Heart written by Emma Lea and published by Emma Lea. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sutton Sharp’s life was perfectly fine, thank you very much. Maybe the entire town of Hope Springs treated her like a kid, but was it really that bad if people looked out for her? Okay, so maybe she could do without walking in on her brother and his girlfriend doing it on every available surface in the house she shared with them, but apart from that inconvenience (and frankly disturbing image) her life was great. She certainly didn’t need her brother’s best friend riding in on a white horse to offer her a place to live where she wouldn’t be constantly confronted with her brother’s bare backside. She had her own plans…and she had a secret that would be impossible to keep if she moved into Daniel’s place. Daniel Forster had only ever thought of Sutton as Tony’s annoying little sister…okay, there was that one time at the B&S ball where he kissed her, but that was just to shut her up. She’d been arguing with him at them time and he couldn’t think of another way to make her be quiet. That was his story and he was sticking to it. Asking her to move in with him had come as a shock not only to her, but to him as well. Yes, he needed a new housemate to cover his mortgage payments, but Sutton was the last person he wanted to give an up close and personal look at his life…especially not after the incident in the warehouse behind the hardware store. Despite both of their aversions to living together, neither of them had any other choice. But it was only temporary and they both agreed they could do temporary. Neither one of them was prepared for what being ‘up close and personal’ would do to their relationship. *This is a hot and steamy best-friend’s little sister/enemies to lovers romance with a happy ever after and lots of flying sparks and lacy lingerie along the way. **This book is set in Australia and uses Australian/UK English

Download or read book The Untangled Cassie Black written by Tammie Painter and published by Daisy Dog Media. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes taking an overdose of magic is the least of your problems. Cassie Black has just lost two people through a magic portal. Her archenemy, the Mauvais, is threatening to destroy city after city if Magic HeadQuarters doesn't hand her over to him. And HQ isn't exactly saying no to that offer. As the Magic higher ups debate her fate, Cassie refuses to sit by and watch the grass grow between the toes of the surveillance gnomes. Biting back her life rule to never get involved, she knows the only way to stop the Mauvais is to go after him herself. Which is exactly what he wants. Because the instant Cassie falls into his hands, the Mauvais will gain the unlimited power he’s always craved. So don't get captured, right? Easy for you to say. Trouble is, there's a traitor within HQ who's proving to be more devious, more powerful, and to have more tricks up the sleeve than anyone could have ever guessed. In this page-turning conclusion of the Cassie Black Trilogy, the curses are flying, the pastries are plentiful, the bookworms are slithering, and the magical batteries are charged to capacity. If you like contemporary fantasy with unforgettable characters, snarky humor, and a touch of paranormal mystery, you’ll love what’s behind the cover of The Untangled Cassie Black.
