Book excerpt: In Volume Two of The "Unknown" Reality, Seth invites us to join in and discover the unknown reality for ourselves through a series of exercises geared to illuminate the inner structures upon which our exterior ones depend. Volume One provides the general background and information upon which the exercises and methods in Volume Two are based. The self is multidimensional when it is physically alive. It is a triumph of spiritual and psychological identity, ever choosing from a myriad of probable realities its own clear unassailable focus. When you don't realize this, then you project upon life after death all of the old misconceptions. . . . The fact is that in life you poise delicately and yet perfectly between realities, and after death you do the same. -- Jane Roberts, Speaking for Seth

Book excerpt: This engagingly written and stunning visual celebration brings readers closer to our savior and explores what's fact, and what's mostly fiction about Jesus Christ. The story of Jesus' birth is one of ancient prophecies, glorious angels, simple shepherds, mysterious kings, a humble and righteous young couple, and a baby who would come to be known as the Savior, the Son of God, the Prince of Peace. Drawing from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, the reader is swept into the world of Roman occupied Galilee two thousand years ago, and discovers why Mary and Joseph had to journey to Bethlehem, even while expecting a baby. Commonly held myths about the Nativity are dispelled, and fascinating insights into Mary, everyday life in Jesus’ time, and angels are woven throughout. This book draws readers into a time, a place, and a life that would forever change the world.

These Four Facts of Reality will answer every possible question about life. Anything the human mind can ask is clearly delineated in these four magnificent and clear-cut truths. They will explain the seeming paradox of truth, the self-contradictions, the reason we sabotage ourselves, the fears we labor under, the emotional pains we keep repeating, the unrelenting frustrations of coming and going, the inability to have faith in our own true nature and, most of all, why we cannot comprehend simple obvious truths about us. For those ready and ripe individuals, these four facts are a great blessing. They are simplicity itself and make psychology, philosophy, metaphysics, and all spiritual beliefs so clear that peace and faith are a natural result.

Book excerpt: An exploration into consciousness, the universe, and the nature of reality • Draws on transdimensional physics and biology, reincarnation and past-life memories, animal consciousness, multiple identities, thoughtforms, soul pictures, and paranormal phenomena like crop circles and poltergeists • Explores the riddle of personal identity and how it differs from consciousness • Reveals that consciousness is more than encompassing all that exists--it also speaks to what has yet to manifest Scientific orthodoxy views the universe as conceived of matter--protons, neutrons, electrons, down to the smallest particle, quarks. But, when you keep digging, what is “beneath” quarks? The scientific worldview does not take into account consciousness or life itself. How did consciousness become part of the material universe? Is it a by-product of brain chemistry or a constituent of reality? Or, to dig deeper, which is more fundamental: the existence of an objective physical universe or our subjective experience of it? In this investigation into consciousness, the universe, and the nature of reality, Richard Grossinger offers a wide-ranging foundation for reimagining the universe as based in consciousness rather than matter. He presents in-depth analysis of the standard scientific description of the universe, revealing the holes in its theories. Exploring the interpenetration of matter and all reality by consciousness, the author looks at reincarnation and past-life memories, examining famous and lesser-known but verifiable accounts. He then explores the nature and origin of consciousness, with accompanying explorations of animal consciousness, the brain as a computer, multiple identities, thoughtforms, soul pictures, and paranormal phenomena like UFOs, faeries, and poltergeists. He also examines concepts from physics that combine elements of both consciousness and matter, such as collapsing waveforms and the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics. Examining nonlocal and transpersonal modes of consciousness, Grossinger looks at the difference between consciousness and personal identity. He expands this discussion with reflections on Sethian cosmology, using Seth’s own words and Jane Roberts’s and John Friedlander’s interpretations. He reveals that consciousness also encompasses what has yet to manifest and explains why the universe exists at all: why there is “something” rather than “nothing.” Skewering the materialist paradigm and placing consciousness alongside mass, gravity, and heat as an essential component of the universe, Grossinger proposes that reality is a thoughtform where sentient beings collaborate to bring about a concrete realm vibrating at their own frequency.

Book excerpt: The present collection of essays, selected by a priest-teacher and laywoman-student at Loyola University, brings together wide-ranging, mind-opening, and absorbing studies on major aspects of biblical scholarship. The volume comprises four major sections. In the first, Free Scholarship in the Church, McKenzie emerges as an articulate spokesman for freedom of intellectual inquiry within the household of the faith. Part 2, Inspiration and Revelation, are lucid, intellectually exhilarating investigations into the meaning of God's word and the historical processes from which the Bible emerged. Part 3, Myth and the Old Testament, includes probing essays that bring the reader face to face with an important and difficult subject: the attitude of the biblical man to nature and to the mythologies of his pagan neighbors. The final section, Messianism, is devoted to a study of the hopes of Israel of old and their fulfillment in Jesus Christ, along with the use of messianic passages for apologetic purposes.

Book excerpt: A stunning novel of hopes and dreams, guilt and love—a book that offers a resonant new definition of what it means to be American and "illuminates the lives behind the current debates about Latino immigration" (The New York Times Book Review). When fifteen-year-old Maribel Rivera sustains a terrible injury, the Riveras leave behind a comfortable life in Mexico and risk everything to come to the United States so that Maribel can have the care she needs. Once they arrive, it’s not long before Maribel attracts the attention of Mayor Toro, the son of one of their new neighbors, who sees a kindred spirit in this beautiful, damaged outsider. Their love story sets in motion events that will have profound repercussions for everyone involved. Here Henríquez seamlessly interweaves the story of these star-crossed lovers, and of the Rivera and Toro families, with the testimonials of men and women who have come to the United States from all over Latin America.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of the theorizing about myth in philosophy and religious studies grows out of efforts to understand the classics and the Bible. In the case of the classics, the presence of myth has been taken for granted, and conclusions reached about Greek and Roman mythology have spurred generalizations about myth. In the case of the Bible, however, the existence of myth has been contested. In fact, Judaism and Christianity are regularly praised for their nonmythic outlook. Conclusions reached about the presence or absence of myth in either the Hebrew Bible or the New Testament have led to generalizations about myth per se. Many of the essays in this volume apply theories of myth to classical, biblical, and ancient Near Eastern cases, but in so doing they draw conclusions about the nature of myth itself. Those essays that criticize past applications make generalizations as weIl. By no means has aIl theorizing about myth from philosophy and religious studies centered on the ancient world, and this volume contains selections from theories in both disciplines that stern from reflections on the nature of science, language, knowledge, and reality.

The Magical Approach teaches us how to live our lives spontaneously, creatively, and according to our own natural rhythms. It helps us to discover and tune into our natural, instinctive behavior. By applying the principles in this book, readers will learn to trust their impulses and discover the highest expression of their creativity. “We are speaking about an approach to life, a magical or natural approach to life that is man’s version of the animal’s natural instinctive behavior in the universe.” — Jane Roberts, Speaking for Seth

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This historic collection of all of Sri Chinmoy’s university lectures in eBook form has been released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sri Chinmoy’s arrival in the West on 13 April 1964. Sri Chinmoy’s very first university lecture was given at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, on 10 January 1968. It was entitled “Spirituality: What It Is and What It Is Not.” This inaugurated a whole era of talks which saw Sri Chinmoy travelling ceaselessly across the length and breadth of America and around the world to address the youth of each country. He would spend countless hours travelling by car or train to reach far- flung universities, sometimes visiting two or even three in the course of a single day. After many of these sublimely inspiring discourses, he would answer questions from the audience or spend time instructing sincere seekers in the age-old practices of concentration, meditation and contemplation. By the mid-seventies, Sri Chinmoy had spoken volumes and he began to include longer and longer periods of silent meditation in his lectures. Then, in 1984, in a significant departure from the spoken word, he introduced the theme of Peace Concerts. At these concerts, Sri Chinmoy would play his own soulful and devotional compositions on a variety of instruments of both Eastern and Western origin, meditating between each instrument and sometimes giving aphorisms on peace and related themes. In 2003 yet another form of Sri Chinmoy’s self-offering unfolded when he travelled to a number of universities to honour distinguished professors for their significant contributions to the betterment of humanity by physically lifting them overhead. This remarkable endeavour was part of his “Lifting Up the World With a Oneness-Heart” award programme. Thus, through words, silence, music and a combination of physical and spiritual upliftment, Sri Chinmoy has shared his profound spiritual message with the aspiring Truth- seekers and God-lovers of the university-world for four decades. Sri Chinmoy’s words are mantras for the modern age, reverberating in our hearts with their timeless and truly life-transforming wisdom. In his exquisite prose, which is suffused with the very breath and cadence of poetry, Sri Chinmoy has revealed all the many stages of the seeker’s journey towards the Golden Shores of the ever-transcending Beyond. For generations to come these three volumes will awaken the inner mounting cry of seekers everywhere to achieve the highest Goal of Yoga—union with God—in this life.
