Download or read book International Bibliography of Business History written by Francis Goodall and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-12-16 with total page 685 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of business history has changed and grown dramatically over the last few years. There is less interest in the traditional `company-centred' approach and more concern about the wider business context. With the growth of multi-national corporations in the 1980s, international and inter-firm comparisons have gained in importance. In addition, there has been a move towards improving links with mainstream economic, financial and social history through techniques and outlook. The International Bibliography of Business History brings all of the strands together and provides the user with a comprehensive guide to the literature in the field. The Bibliography is a unique volume which covers the depth and breadth of research in business history. This exhaustive volume has been compiled by a team of subject specialists from around the world under the editorship of three prestigious business historians.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to provide the reader with an overview of New Zealand's international relations. It is a country that has often shown an international presence that is out of proportion to the modest spectrum of national economic, military and diplomatic capabilities at its disposal. In this volume, the editors have called upon a range of specialists representing a range of views drawn from the worlds of academia, policy-making, and civil society. It is an attempt to present a rounded picture of New Zealand's place in the world, one that does not rely exclusively on any particular perspective. The book does not claim to be exhaustive. But it does seek to present a more wide-ranging treatment of New Zealand's foreign relations than has generally been the case in the past. Five broad themes help shape and organize the contributions to the text: History and National IdentityEconomics and RegionalismMoralityGeopolitics and National Security InterestsDiplomatic Engagement and Multilateralism Contents: Introduction: New Zealand and the World: Past, Present and Future (Iati Iati and Robert G Patman)History and National Identity: Building Foreign Policy in New Zealand: The Role of the University of Otago Foreign Policy School, 1966–1976 (Austin Gee, Robert G Patman and Christopher Rudd)The New Zealand Prime Minister and the 1985 Otago Foreign Policy School — A Pivotal Moment for the Labour Government's Foreign Policy (Ken Ross)Gallipoli, National Identity and New Beginnings (Ian McGibbon)National Identity and New Zealand Foreign Policy (Terence O'Brien)Exporting Aotearoa New Zealand's Biculturalism: Lessons for Indigenous-Settler Relations in Canada (David B MacDonald)What Does New Zealand's Changing Demography Mean for Its Place in the World? Book Synopsis Oceania under steam by : Frances Steel
Download or read book Oceania under steam written by Frances Steel and published by Manchester University Press. This book was released on 2017-02-01 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The age of steam was the age of Britain’s global maritime dominance, the age of enormous ocean liners and human mastery over the seas. The world seemed to shrink as timetabled shipping mapped out faster, more efficient and more reliable transoceanic networks. But what did this transport revolution look like at the other end of the line, at the edge of empire in the South Pacific? Through the historical example of the largest and most important regional maritime enterprise - the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand - Frances Steel eloquently charts the diverse and often conflicting interests, itineraries and experiences of commercial and political elites, common seamen and stewardesses, and Islander dock workers and passengers. Drawing on a variety of sources, including shipping company archives, imperial conference proceedings, diaries, newspapers and photographs, this book will appeal to cultural historians and geographers of British imperialism, scholars of transport and mobility studies, and historians of New Zealand and the Pacific.

Download or read book Studies in Accounting History written by Atsuo Tsuji and published by Praeger. This book was released on 1995-07-24 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in cooperation with the Accounting History Association of Japan, this volume brings together key essays presented at the World Congress on Accounting History held in Kyoto, Japan. Covering a wide range of topics, from 16th-century accounting practices in Spain to the development of the certified public accountants system in contemporary China, the volume illustrated the richness of the subject areas and research approaches being utilized in the field. In addition to broad examination of topics such as accounting and public policy, or the evolution of strategic management accounting, the volume provides case studies ranging from 16th-century accounting practices in Spain to the development of the certified public accountants system in contemporary China. The topics and methods considered should encourage other researchers to add to the range of accounting history, while accounting practitioners with an interest in the profession will come away from the volume with a greater appreciation of the originators of some of their practices and theories.

Book Synopsis British Capital, Antipodean Labour by : Anna Green
Download or read book British Capital, Antipodean Labour written by Anna Green and published by Otago University Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about work on the New Zealand waterfront in the first half of the twentieth century. With a small domestic market, the country depended for its wealth on trade with the rest of the world. That trade relied on the carriage of goods by sea and so the ports played a vital role in the nation's economy, and in the nation's labour relations. A series of bitter labour disputes arose out of the differing goals of shipping companies and waterside workers, culminating in 1951. Based on oral histories with both former employers and workers, this is the first book to take the long view on the processes of work on the waterfront, considering the organisation of labour and the ownership of the industry. It is especially relevant as the old issues, including insecurity of employment and intensified hours of work, resurface.
