Book excerpt: Facing the darkness is their only way back to the light. After a horrible accident while filming the third episode of Project Demon Hunters, Audrey Barrett can’t get the if onlys out of her head. If only she hadn’t tried to play hero. If only she’d stayed out of the way. In the end, Michael sent the demon in question back to hell…but at a terrible cost. The cable network has pulled the plug on the show, and they’re all out of a job. Now there’s nothing left to do but tie up loose ends. At least Audrey still has Michael, alive and by her side. But those loose ends are a clear sign — gouged deep in oak — that the demon who’s been making their lives miserable isn’t through with them after all. They have no choice but to confront evil on its own ground. But if they can’t pin a name on this demon, nothing will save them…not even an ocean of holy water. Book excerpt: Dr. Michael S. Heiser presents fifteen years of research on what the Bible really says about the unseen world of the supernatural, unfiltered by tradition or by theological presuppositions. Who were the sons of God? Who were the Nephilim? Where do angels fit into the supernatural hierarchy? What relation does Jesus bear to the rest of the supernatural world? Heiser tackles these questions and many more as he shines a light on the ancient context of Scripture. After reading this book, you may never read your Bible the same way again. In Supernatural, Heiser takes the core message from his recent best-seller, The Unseen Realm, and presents it for the person in the pew. He offers the same approach to reading and understanding Scripture, but without all the extra footnotes and supporting information needed for the scholarly treatment. “We can’t believe what we don’t understand. In Supernatural, Michael Heiser helps us to do both. It may open your eyes to the scripture in a new way.” —John Ortberg, author of If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IGNORANCE OF GOD’S TRUTH IS NO EXCUSE! We are to glorify God and love Him with all our heart, soul and mind; and love our neighbors as ourselves. As believers, we are to be conduits for the flow of God’s love to other human beings. However, the Christian Community is greatly hindered corporately and individually because of self-love, individualism, spiritual and biblical ignorance. Many Christians look at the truths of God’s Word in an attitude of utter defeat and unbelief. God said this work would be done through us empowered by the Holy Spirit. We can trust Him to complete His work in us because He has promised it (see Philippians 1:6). God repeatedly assures us of His promised provisions for us, and of His consistent undying love for us. Why not fully—yield yourself to Him today!

He has also included many of the “best of” lists by more than fifty of the most important contributors to the genre.; Mr. Sobin spent more than two decades gathering the data and lists in this volume, much of that time he used to recheck the accuracy of the material he had collected. Several of the “best of” lists appear here for the first time in book form. Several others have been unavailable for a number of years.; Of special note, are Anthony Boucher’s “Best Picks for the Year.” Boucher, one of the major mystery reviewers of all time, reviewed for The San Francisco Chronicle, Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, and The New York Times. From these resources Mr. Sobin created “Boucher’s Best” and “Important Lists to Consider,” lists that provide insight into important writing in the field from 1942 through Boucher’s death in 1968.? This is a great resource for all mystery readers and collectors.; ; Winner of the 2008 Macavity Awards for Best Mystery Nonfiction.

Book excerpt: “Legends of Trent’n” is a love story and a drug story. It talks about the devastating effects of addiction on relationships and how the compulsive need for narcotics can destroy lives. The book compares the progression of the disease in average people and the way the drugs have polluted the city they live in. The power of the book lies in the fact that it is based on a true story. It is a book about chaos, and loss, and desperation. “Legends of Trent’n” discusses a condition that afflicts millions of people. The story is set in New Jerseys capitol and chronicles the lives of a select few addicts, but it could happen to anyone, anywhere. It is a commentary that raises more questions than it answers. ”Legends of Trent’n” illustrates the depth of human frailty and weakness and transcends its scope as a biography in its quest for understanding and redemption.
