Book Synopsis Rites of Religious Profession by : Edward Foley
Download or read book Rites of Religious Profession written by Edward Foley and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-04-28 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rites of religious profession mark the initiation of women and men into the various religious communities of the church. These public liturgies of the church manifest and shape the relation of these women and men to the church and to the world. How are the rites of religious profession to be understood, prepared, and celebrated? Edward Foley offers an overview of their history and a reflection on the theology of these rites. He then shows how to approach these liturgies and bring them to life as celebrations of the church. We learn how much the rites themselves tell us about the formation of religious women and men, and how and the place these communities have in the church. This volume also contains the entire official text of the Rite of Religious Profession. This includes all revisions to this text made through 1988.

Book Synopsis Una presenza che cambia - Quasi Tischreden - Volume 7 by : Luigi Giussani
Download or read book Una presenza che cambia - Quasi Tischreden - Volume 7 written by Luigi Giussani and published by Bur. This book was released on 2012-07-03 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis On Bits and Pieces by : Mark A. Escobar
Download or read book On Bits and Pieces written by Mark A. Escobar and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-02 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As discipleship demands new perspectives and priorities, these homilies articulate relationships in a variety of settings, images and lifestyles of being in the world with others. Though they help us understand the presence of God in our lives, living with our own mystery and spirituality becomes like a "dependable compass" that is always there to guide us. God sees what is in each human heart and we give ourselves the space and the time to nourish it with the mystery of his love for us. It is our road map as we walk by faith and not by sight alone. Jesus' life, teaching, and ministry in a particular place, time, and culture have great significance to our journey as far as our mission is concerned. He identifies himself with the people across cultures and he enters into solidarity with those in need. St Augustine once said, "Faith is to believe what we do not see; and the reward of this faith is to see what we believe." We may not know where our journey takes us because there is not much of a plan, but it is our faith that sustains us to complete a journey through thick and thin. It provides us with the opportunity to let the mind wander and watch and listen to God in prayer. Hence, whether it is a daily walk or the journey through daily life, these homilies are offered to help us continue with confidence; with enthusiasm to move on and in every sense be men and women of the Gospel. After all, as the late Mother Teresa of Calcutta once wrote: We cannot all do great things, but can do small things with great love."

Book Synopsis Liturgy as Revelation by : Philip Caldwell
Download or read book Liturgy as Revelation written by Philip Caldwell and published by Fortress Press. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A critical issue in modern Catholic theology has been the relationship between the doctrine of revelation and the church’s liturgical and sacramental practice. This volume argues that although in the twentieth century Catholic theology increasingly recognized the centrality of Christology—particularly the person of Christ—as the locus of revelation and drew out the crucial implications of Christ as the revelation of God, it was slow to connect this revelatory dynamic with the encounter that occurs within the sacramental space of the liturgy, most notably the Eucharist. Taking the decline of the neoscholastic enterprise in Catholic theology and the challenges posed by modernism as his point of departure, Philip Caldwell traces the evolution of the Catholic theology of revelation in the twentieth century and the vital role played by the liturgical and sacramental renewal movements in reimagining this pivotal theological category. Examining the specific contributions of René Latourelle, Avery Dulles, Salvatore Marsilli, and Gustave Martelet against a background of pre-conciliar ressourcement theology, this volume provides a comprehensive account of why a Trinitarian and Christological construal of liturgy and sacraments as revelation is key to the vision that informed Vatican II and offers constructive theological and ecclesial possibilities for the future.
