Book excerpt: In the 1890's Otto Lilienthal, Germany's first and foremost contributor to the conquest of the air made over 2,000 unpowered flights in gliders he designed. Greatly inspired by Lilienthal, the Wright brothers were to study his designs, photographs, and the reports of his experiments. Today, modern ultralight aircraft reflect the early pioneering spirit of the likes of Lilienthal, the Wright brothers, Samuel Langley and Glenn Curtiss. Our wings: their vision of over one hundred years ago, are a tribute for all time to their efforts.

Flight and ground school instructors will appreciate the Private Pilot Beginner's Manual (for Sport Pilots too) as the ultimate guide for introducing or reviewing aeronautical basics without scaring off future, or returning, pilots with overly technical dissertations. Book Synopsis Federal Aviation Regulations Study Guide for the Private Pilot by : Elite Aviation Solutions
Download or read book Federal Aviation Regulations Study Guide for the Private Pilot written by Elite Aviation Solutions and published by Elite Aviation Solutions. This book was released on 2013-05-07 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every year thousands of private pilots buy a FAR/AIM with the intention of studying the regulations. My estimate is that the average pilot spends less than 20 hours a year using the FAR/AIM manual to increase their knowledge. Pilots have good intentions of studying, but the lack of use is mainly due to the poor study format of the FAR/AIM. The end result is that pilots understand only a small number of regulations. This study guide is going to change that! The Federal Aviation Regulations Study Guide for the Private Pilot is presented in a very study-friendly format. Our professional pilot staff reviewed all of the FARs and selected the regulations that apply to private pilots. Those regulations were then formatted into a study guide format with questions, answers and additional information. Whether you are preparing for your private pilot check ride, a biennial flight review, or a general review, this book will help you prepare much more efficiently and retain more information.
Download or read book Contact Flying written by Jim Dulin and published by Contact Flying. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike conventional aviation authors and instructors I do not teach primary flying, crop dusting, pipeline patrol flying, bush flying, helicopter medical evacuation flying, and air to ground gunnery using instruments inside the aircraft as the primary situational awareness tool. Rather I teach Dutch rolls, slow flight and stalls over the runway, the energy management turns, use of ground effect on all takeoffs, the brisk walk apparent rate of closure approach, hover taxi in fixed wing aircraft, and low level low power mountain flying using sights, sounds, smells, and kinetics. Sight is used 99.9% of the time looking at the ground. Airspeed, nor any other instrument is used in takeoff or landing. This text teaches the art of flying in the old style at low level using ground references. Its author has over sixteen thousand hours of flying Army helicopters, crop dusters, and pipeline patrol airplanes at three feet to five hundred feet above ground level.
