Book excerpt: Widely read, The Bhagavad Gita is a classic of world spirituality while The essential companion to The Bhagavad Gita, The Uddhava Gita has remained overlooked. This new accessible and only English translation in print of The Uddhava Gita offers a previously unexplored path to understanding Hinduism and Krishna’s wisdom. Written centuries apart, the ideas of the two dialogues are similar although their approach and contexts differ. The Bhagavad Gita is filled with the urgency of battle while The Uddhava Gita takes place on the eve of Krishna’s departure from the world. The Uddhava Gita offers the reader philosophy, sublime poetry, practical guidance, and, ultimately, hope for a more complete consciousness in which the life of the body better reflects the life of the spirit.

Book Synopsis Anu Gita Explained by : Michael Beloved
Download or read book Anu Gita Explained written by Michael Beloved and published by . This book was released on 2011-08-16 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the translation with word-for-word meanings to the original Sanskrit. It has an analysis and application to all except the last three verses. No details are spared in the discussion about the transmigration journeys taken by a soul. The journey through physical existence and hereafter and then back into this world, repeatedly, is neatly and precisely described by a siddha from a higher dimension. The soul with the effect-energies from its socially-acceptable and criminal acts, travels to the hereafter where it is fittingly rewarded either in a heavenly world or a hellish place. Then it returns to this earthly planet and becomes adapted as an infant of parents. Anu Gita is intense. It is Krishna's action thriller. Unlike the Bhagavad Gita where He explained many topics about the application of yoga proficiency to social involvement, the Anu Gita begins with an inquiry into the nature of the individual being and its transmigration between the physical world and the astral existence. There is no drifting away from the topic. Krishna did not stress his divinity and supremacy as in the Bhagavad Gita. He simply quoted a discourse which occurred between a perfected siddha and Kashyapa.

A mind, thus preoccupied, knows not how to withdraw. At such times, only God or a man of discrimination can help us see light. The Sanatkumaras approached Lord Brahma, the Creator, with such a problem. Lord Brahma confessed to being to preoccupied, and therefore, had no solution to offer. The supreme Lord then appeared as ‘Hamsa’ – the Swan, and gave the knowledge of the Truth. This episode of Shrimad Bhagavatam is called Hamsa Gita. The lucid commentary by Swami Tejomayananda helps us understand the problem and seek a practical solution, thereby giving us a head start towards our quest for Truth.

Book excerpt: 19th Akshauhini answers all the questions about the Gita that are plaguing minds. The illustrative list of questions answered in this book are: How can Krishna who himself ran away from battle & earned the sobriquet "RANCHOR"(meaning one who ran away from battle) advise Arjuna to fight his enemies? How can a forty minute discourse of the Gita be complete knowledge? How can a 5300-year-old dialog be relevant to modern times? If the Gita is unchanging, isn't it too rigid and unsuitable for modern times? How can one discourse cater to the needs of diverse types of people? Does the Gita encourage violence? Isn't the Gita sectarian and meant for Hindus? Read on to get a new perspective on the Gita and its teachings."
Book Synopsis Kriya Yoga Bhagavad Gita by : Michael Beloved
Download or read book Kriya Yoga Bhagavad Gita written by Michael Beloved and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-07 with total page 614 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This precise and very revealing translation and commentary, exposes the kriya yoga techniques taught by Lord Krishna to Arjuna. This was inspired by Babaji Mahayogin, who uses a sunlight body and who imparted this information into the mind of the writer by mystic transfer. Kriya yoga techniques are secretive but in contrast, Lord Krishna divulged it openly to Arjuna. This volume shows this. It may free a reader from ineffective kriya techniques. For practicing yogis, it would confirm valid kriyas and show new approaches. This commentary expresses the ideas of Sri Babaji, the master kriyā yogin who can be reached in the astral world in a sunlight body in the dimension known as Siddhaloka. This was inspired to the writer by him. Kriyā yoga which was defined by Sri Patañjali, is divulged freely in the Gītā. The practice with its secretive techniques which are only known to a few persons and their confidential disciples, is fully sketched by Lord Krishna. Undoubtedly one requires instruction from an expert, but the instructor does not have to be physically present. And most of all, the outline of the practice is given freely in the Bhagavad-Gītā by none other than Śrī Krishna, the ultimate yogin.
Book Synopsis Bhagavad Gītā Explained by : Madhvacharya (Prabhu)
Download or read book Bhagavad Gītā Explained written by Madhvacharya (Prabhu) and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a philosophical treatise and a religious canon, Bhagavad-Gita stood the test of time. With the prevalence of literacy, many hundreds of published and unpublished translations and commentaries abound. People find solace in the philosophy of Gita and existential security in the promises given by Sri Krishna. Gita was abused and is still subjected to harassment by philosophers and preachers who find it necessary to use it to support their doctrines and claims. This translation shows what Sri Krishna explained to Arjuna in terms of their cultural situation. At least in so far as the Mahabharata described. This translation stands apart from others by its lack of exploitation of the Gita for missionary or philosophical purposes. Once you begin reading this, you may be reluctant to put it down. This really can put you in touch with Lord Krishna and with Arjuna, the initially discouraged but later courageous and enlightened warrior.

A foreword, written by prominent Hinduism scholar Charles S. J. White joins the author's own introduction to lay out the Uddhava Gita's background, philosophical dimensions, and religious significance. Book excerpt: This translation and commentary is a deep-read indepth study of the instructions given to Uddhava who questioned Sri Krishna about the perplexities of material existence. In the teaching to Uddhava, Krishna stated that He taught three yogas, namely karma yoga, jnana yoga and bhakti yoga. In the Bhagavad Gita discussion with Arjuna He admited teachng only the first two of these. The complete teachings of Sri Krishna were given to Uddhava. All unanswered questions which Sri Krishna either avoided or answered partially, are fully dealt with in the discourse with Uddhava. For that matter instead of advocating karma yoga which is detachment with worldly life, Sri Krishna insisted on jnana yoga, which is detachment and full abandonment of worldly life. Karma yoga means that a person leaves aside the result of his or her activities, while jnana yoga means that a person refuses both the results and the opportunities for activity. And that was the path which Krishna recommended to Uddhava.
