Book excerpt: Every fly fisher wants bragging rights about landing a 32-inch behemoth of a carp. Even better? Adding extra colour to your tale by hooking the monstrous fish with a fly tied from a tuft of your golden retriever’s fur. These are just some of the tips, tricks, and fishing anecdotes packed into Stu Thompson’s illustrated fly-pattern book. Thompson, who has been fishing in the province of Manitoba and beyond for more than 55 years, has smartly grouped flies into categories such as chironomids, wet flies, dry flies, and streamers. Every fly pattern is accompanied by detailed photographs and step-by-step instructions for tying flies that work for multiple species of fish. From simple to more difficult (but always effective) the 101 fly patterns in this book were developed, tested, and proven—not only by Thompson but also by his friends across North America and Europe.
Download or read book Tyed to You written by Jordyn McKenzie and published by Totally Entwined Group (USA+CAD). This book was released on 2013-01-07 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "And why not let the 'hot younger brother' woo you? You are the most amazing, drop-dead gorgeous woman I've ever known and you totally deserve to be wooed." With her thirtieth birthday on the horizon, Jasmine Montgomery has just filed papers to divorce her unfaithful husband. She's spared a weekend of wallowing when she answers the call of her best friend, Laurel Benedetti, to come along for a carefree weekend at the Benedetti family lake house. Joining them will be Laurel's younger brother, Tyson, and a couple of his closest friends, who are celebrating their graduation from college. Aside from having known him since he was in primary school, Jasmine and Tyson have a very brief history: six years prior, a drunken moment's poor decision led to them being caught in a compromising position. Although Jasmine was horrified by her action, Tyson had fallen in love. She hasn't seen him since that night, but the incident still lurked in the back of her mind. Surely he'd forgotten it had ever occurred...or had he? All Tyson knows is that fate has awarded him this weekend as his chance to capture the heart of the woman of his dreams and convince her that age really is just a number.

Book Synopsis The Inventory of King Henry VIII: The transcript by : Society of Antiquaries of London
Download or read book The Inventory of King Henry VIII: The transcript written by Society of Antiquaries of London and published by Harvey Miller. This book was released on 1998 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Inventory is not only a catalogue of magnificence but also a key text for evaluating the successes and failures of the Tudor monarchy. Henry VIII had extravagant ideas of image and authority and loved his possessions, amongst which where over 2,000 pieces of tapestry, 2,028 items of gold and silver plate and 41 growns. Although he left the country with heavy debts and an empty exchequer, he was far from bankrupting the monarchy as some scholars have suggested. Indeed the Inventory allows us to calculate that at the time of his death the contents of his palaces and wardrobes were worth about oe300,000 and the military and naval stores a further oe300,000. Most of what the King owned has unfortunately since disappeared. Yet the Inventory tells us what once existed, enables us to identify surviving objects and also helps once belonged to hem. The transcription of the inventory is accompanied by a historical introduction, a glossary of technical terms, and an exhaustive Index which is a major tool of scholarship in its own right.
