The story then jumps 350 years as the soldier's thirteenth-generation descendant, Josh Williams, becomes embroiled in a battle to stop a newly-minted Indian tribe from building a third casino that threatens his town and ancestral home. The lure of easy money drives everyone from the tribe's fraudulent chief to a shadowy Miami billionaire, venal politicians, and Providence mobsters, while a small, quintessential New England town must choose between preserving its character or accepting an extraordinary proposal that will change it forever. As the battle over the casino reaches a climax, Josh discovers startling truths about his family's past--including centuries-old events that appear to be impacting the present with devastating effect.

Book excerpt: There are many professing Christians who are so misguided on the matter of truth in relation to God's law and God's love as to make a mockery of the death of Jesus on Calvary. There is so much error being taught such as the devilish doctrine of eternal torment in hell-fire, and that God's law of Ten Commandment were nailed to the Cross as to make the gospel of Christ look ridiculous. The mark of the beast is not a figment of the imagination but a real danger that will face all of those who refuse to heed the last call of God to worship Him in truth. It is widely believed that at the relevant time it will be an easy thing to refuse to have the mark of the beast. However, the mark of the beast is not a visible sign to accept or reject but a subtle intrusion upon the mind by Satan the arch deceiver. There are real issues at stake when confronted by the Spirit of truth. In these circumstances, it is important to be aware of present truth whether from this or any other source before the return of Jesus.

Book Synopsis The Seven Thunders and the Gathering by : Bernard Palfrey
Download or read book The Seven Thunders and the Gathering written by Bernard Palfrey and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-12-07 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within God's law of Ten Commandments is revealed a vision of God. God's law is a reflection of His character. In these circumstances it is the height of folly to lightly dismiss the importance of God's Ten Commandments. To attempt refutation of God's law of Ten Commandments is a denial of God.At this very time God is calling His people out of Babylon. Because they are under the influence of the Holy Spirit, the people of God will recognise His voice and leave the Babylonian state of confusion. This fact is proved to be true by the words of John 10:27 where it says:"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."To follow Jesus is to keep God's Ten Commandment, which includes the seventh day Sabbath commandment.

Book excerpt: Could we be Pharisaic self-righteous Christians with the pretence of a sincere love for God that God might prove to be false? There is a simple test of two questions that will establish whether as professing Christians we are speaking the truth in the matter of love. The first question posed is: Who do we love most in this world above any other? The second question to be posed is: Who do we love more, the person of the first question or God?If the answer is a statement of loving God more, there is a need for us to learn the lesson of this book which is a message of truth written to prepare God's people for the final conflict between Christ and Satan. There is not one church that is preaching the full truth as proclaimed in Scripture. Jesus cannot return triumphant to a church in defeat.

Book excerpt: Numbers employs several genres to describe the formidable challenges of Israel after the Exodus. The journey towards the promised land is filled with dangers and adventures. Both internal and external threats hamper the realization of God’s promises. The wilderness becomes the ultimate testing ground for Israel’s faith and obedience to Yahweh who always proves Himself faithful. However, people struggle to reciprocate divine affections. A generation of Exodus participants perish enroute. Prominent themes of the epic sojourn include the providence and guidance of Yahweh, prophecy and prophetic leadership, worship, the Spirit of God, conflict, testing, judgment, healing, blessing, and cursing. Although ancient literature, Numbers features the impeccable prophetic leadership of Moses who has much to teach contemporary leaders about shepherding God’s people during chaotic times.

Among much more error being preached, there is also the wide spread belief that the Sabbath day has been changed for Christians from the Saturday to the Sunday. The mark of the beast is not a figment of the imagination but a real danger that will face all of those who refuse to heed the last call of God to worship Him in truth. It is widely believed that at the relevant time it will be an easy thing to refuse to have the mark of the beast. Book Synopsis Jeremiah 48 as Christian Scripture by : Julie Woods
Download or read book Jeremiah 48 as Christian Scripture written by Julie Woods and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "All Scripture is God-breathed" and yet some parts seem rather less God-breathed than one might imagine, or even like. The prophecy concerning Moab in Jeremiah 48 is one such text, since it appears to equate the Lord's work with bloodshed and curses those who withhold their swords. How, if at all, might such a passage inform the Christian community of faith? In this sophisticated study Julie Woods identifies some salient features of Jeremiah's Moab oracle by means of a careful analysis and comparison of both the Septuagint and the Masoretic Text of Jeremiah 48. She also explores the implications of links between the Moab oracles in Jeremiah 48 and Isaiah 15-16. The focus then moves to theological hermeneutics via an examination of some recent Christian interpretations of the oracle (from Walter Brueggemann, Ronald Clements, Terence Fretheim, Douglas Jones, and Patrick Miller). Building on the observations of these scholars and the conclusions reached from her own textual analyses, Woods provides an innovative Christian reading of the oracle (including two imaginative film scripts to bring the text to life). Perhaps one of the more surprising proposals is that Easter is the ultimate horizon of Jeremiah 48.

Book Synopsis Binocular Vision by : Ed. D. Jeanette J. Green
Download or read book Binocular Vision written by Ed. D. Jeanette J. Green and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007-03 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you have been confused about the message of the first few chapers of Genesis, or feel uncomfortable with current interpretations of these chapters, the book, "Binocular Vision" Featuring Genesis 1-5 and Genesis 6:1-6, may be of interest to you. This word-for-word interpretation of the first few chapters of the Bible tends to take the confusion out of God's Creation, how He did it, and how different groups of people happened. Allow yourself / your group to study this book and see if it doesn't put an end to the Creative (Intelligent) Design / Darwinism debate. Also pay close attention to the "Time" segment. Don't judge the book by its cover; you need to actually read (study) the entire Genesis account and "Time" to get a Spiritual and historical understanding of the Creation and mankind's plight and progress. Great for individual study, group study, and discussion. Even though, for the Genesis study, the King James Version is readily available on the left side of the open book for your immediate reference, be prepared to check and re-check your own Bible regularly to affirm its actual message. The author of "Binocular Vision" studied for 11 years to find the answers to something entirely different (acknowledged in the Introduction, parts of Geneses and the Letter) from the most common and current interpretations; but, when the book was finished it became clear that the Genesis account of the Bible holds answers to archaeological and anthropological questions as well. "Binocular Vision" is for anyone who is interested in God's Word, especially those who have found contradiction and confusion in the first few chapters of the Bible. Be prepared for some surprises. Here's wishing you enlightening adventures in the world of Genesis.
