Join Maddie, Helena, and Crystal as they navigate their newly found midlife magical powers. I’m Maddie, just your typical supermom in a minivan, fulfilling my family's needs while forgetting my own. But now I'm a super powered woman riding shotgun on the back of a hot demigod's a motorcycle. How is this my life? It started on the night my husband died, which is when I also found out he was married to two other women! It really confused the whole grieving process. Even worse, the cheater left me to deal with the fallout from his messy business dealing magical artifacts - including a magic globe that's given me strange powers. Suddenly I can split in two...or even three! It's weird and exciting, but also good timing. I need all the extra hands I can get. Goons are invading my house, determined to get the artifact no matter who they have to hurt. There's also the sexy demigod I mentioned, Aden, who tells me that our fates are intertwined. Even though he acts like I get him all hot and bothered, I'm pretty sure he just wants to get his hands on the artifact. But what if I'm wrong...is it possible this superpowered hottie actually wants me - boring old Maddie? Somehow, I have to figure out how to keep my family safe, what to do with these new powers, and if I'm ready for a second chance at love! This is book 1 in the Powers of the Zodiac series. Book Synopsis Failure Is Not an Option by : Gene Kranz
Download or read book Failure Is Not an Option written by Gene Kranz and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2001-02-21 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This New York Times bestselling memoir of a veteran NASA flight director tells riveting stories from the early days of the Mercury program through Apollo 11 (the moon landing) and Apollo 13, for both of which Kranz was flight director. Gene Kranz was present at the creation of America’s manned space program and was a key player in it for three decades. As a flight director in NASA’s Mission Control, Kranz witnessed firsthand the making of history. He participated in the space program from the early days of the Mercury program to the last Apollo mission, and beyond. He endured the disastrous first years when rockets blew up and the United States seemed to fall further behind the Soviet Union in the space race. He helped to launch Alan Shepard and John Glenn, then assumed the flight director’s role in the Gemini program, which he guided to fruition. With his teammates, he accepted the challenge to carry out President John F. Kennedy’s commitment to land a man on the Moon before the end of the 1960s. Kranz recounts these thrilling historic events and offers new information about the famous flights. What appeared as nearly flawless missions to the Moon were, in fact, a series of hair-raising near misses. When the space technology failed, as it sometimes did, the controllers’ only recourse was to rely on their skills and those of their teammates. He reveals behind-the-scenes details to demonstrate the leadership, discipline, trust, and teamwork that made the space program a success. A fascinating firsthand account by a veteran mission controller of one of America’s greatest achievements, Failure Is Not an Option reflects on what has happened to the space program and offers his own bold suggestions about what we ought to be doing in space now.

High school is a torment, and my newfound ability to sense thoughts pushes everyone away, except Ash—a heartthrob hallucination turned real—who claims I'm a long-lost siren princess. As strange events unfold, my parents are kidnapped, and Ash becomes my protector, though doubt lingers. The hockey team's captain seeks more than friendship, and my life spirals out of control. I am determined to free my parents, even if it means returning to the ocean depths. Juggling high school and unraveling my mysterious powers, I discover a sinister Sea Witch threatening my family and the entire ocean realm. Time races against me. I'll fight, even if it means confronting the chilling Atlantic. Amidst the chaos, I cling to the hope that this isn't a psychotic episode—praying to wake up with legs instead of a tail. In this thrilling race against destiny, I must learn to control my powers before evil prevails, and my family is lost forever.
Book Synopsis We Have Capture by : Thomas P. Stafford
Download or read book We Have Capture written by Thomas P. Stafford and published by Smithsonian Institution. This book was released on 2014-01-14 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What an amazing career. Tom Stafford attained the highest speed ever reached by a test pilot (28,547 mph), carried a cosmonaut’s coffin with Soviet Secretary Leonid Brezhnev, led the team that designed the sequence of missions leading to the original lunar landing, and drafted the original specifications for the B-2 stealth bomber on a piece of hotel stationery. But his crowning achievement was surely his role as America’s unofficial space ambassador to the Soviet Union during the darkest days of the Cold War. In this lively memoir written with Michael Cassutt, Stafford begins by recounting his early successes as a test pilot, Gemini and Apollo astronaut, and USAF general. As President Nixon's stand-in at the 1971 Soviet funeral for three cosmonauts, he opened the door to the possibility of cooperation in space between Russians and Americans. Stafford's Apollo-Soyuz team was the first group of Americans to work at the cosmonaut training center, and also the first to visit Baikonur, the top-secret Soviet launch center, in 1974. His 17 July 1975 “handshake in space” with Soviet commander Alexei Leonov (who became a lifelong friend) proved to the world that the two opposing countries could indeed work successfully together. Stafford has continued in this leadership role right up to the present, participating in designing and evaluating the Space Shuttle, Mir, and the International Space Station. He is truly an American hero who personifies the broadest spirit of exploration and cooperation.

With fear and polio rising in the city, Jude reluctantly takes Morris and Lottie to the small town he left long ago. At the family farm in Gemini, Morris meets relations who are strangers - an aunt, an uncle, and a cousin obsessed with detective novels - and is drawn into a community reeling from a murder and a financial crash. Without a clear suspect for the killing, suspicions have turned to the downtrodden, huddled in camps outside the town. But Morris is sure there is more to this case. With the help of new friends, he turns his attention instead to the people around him, confronting his fears and searching for a killer in a town full of mysteries - a search that will bring secrets old and new to the surface, and leave someone else fighting for their life.
