Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past ten years numerous new findings have been documented in the field of gynecological pathology, especially in respect of neoplasms. These findings have been generated by the application of recently developed techniques of immunology and molecular biology. However, clinicopathologic examinations· are still an absolute requirement for the morphologic evaluation of neoplasms, including gynecological tumors. The International Society of Gynecological Pathologists (ISGYP) has contributed greatly to the progress within gynecological pathology. The ISGYP Nomenclature Committee has promoted the International Histological Classification of Gynecological Tumors under the auspices of the W orid Health Organization. A new edition of the classification of tumors and tumor-like conditions of trophoblastic disease, uterine corpus, cervix, vagina, and vulva is currently in press. A second volume covering the ovaries, fallopian tubes, broad ligament, and female peritoneum will be published later. Organization of scientific symposia and seminars has also been an important activity of the ISGYP. The present editor organized and chaired a symposium entitled "Recent Progress in Diagnostic Pathology of Gynecological Tumors" held in Sendai, Japan on 11 April 1986 in close cooperation with Prof. T. Okagaki, University of Minnesota Medical School, and under the joint auspices ofthe ISGYP and the Japanese Society of Pathology. The following topics were discussed at this symposium: - Immunocytochemistry of gestational trophoblastic disease (Dr. R.J.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book comprehensively covers modern soft tissue pathology and includes both tumors and non-neoplastic entities. Soft tissues make up a large bulk of the human body, and they are susceptible to a wide range of diseases. Many soft-tissue tumors are biologically very aggressive, and the chance of them metastasizing to vital organs is quite high. In recent years, the outlook for soft-tissue cancers has brightened dramatically due to the increased accuracy of the pathologist's tools. All methods of diagnosis are covered here, with an emphasis on the newest immunoassays and other genetic, molecular, and immunologic diagnostic modalities. This book's systematic description of benign and malignant primary soft tissue tumors with didactic, comprehensive panels of illustrations allows the reader to formulate a complete understanding of the morphology of tumor entities at one glance. The book covers both the most common tumor entities and more unusual diseases using more than 1,500 color images, making it a resource for beginning and senior pathologists.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Colposcopic examination of cervix with cervical cytology is very frequently used to screen the cervical lesion. Accuracy of cervical cytology is less as compared to Histopathological examination. Therefore histopathological examination of biopsies of cervical lesions and hysterectomy specimens is the gold standard. Carcinoma of the cervix is the most common cancer in Indian women and accounts for 20% of all malignant tumours in the females. In this book we discussed anatomy, epidemiology, aetiopathogenesis, benign squamous cell lesions, benign glandular lesions and other tumors of the cervix. This book is very helpful for postgraduate students and faculties of Pathology and Obstetrics and Gynecologists.
