The forgiveness of sin was not the only thing included in your salvation. From God's perspective, it is just the beginning, a means to an end. Fellowship is the real goal. Now, become a disciple (learner and follower) of Jesus. Learn what separates Christianity from every other religion; how God sees past, present, and future sins; and much more. After receiving, each one became a powerhouse of God's miraculous power, and that's available to you. If you believe the Bible is true, then you must also believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is God's will for everyone. In this book, Andrew establishes the validity of speaking in tongues, talks about the many gifts that accompany it, shares other little-known benefits, and explains how to begin speaking in tongues.
Book Synopsis Lies We Believe About God by : Wm. Paul Young
Download or read book Lies We Believe About God written by Wm. Paul Young and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-03-07 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the bestselling novel The Shack and the New York Times bestsellers Cross Roads and Eve comes a compelling, conversational exploration of twenty-eight assumptions about God—assumptions that just might be keeping us from experiencing His unconditional, all-encompassing love. In his wildly popular novels, Wm. Paul Young portrayed the Triune God in ways that challenged our thinking—sometimes upending long-held beliefs, but always centered in the eternal, all-encompassing nature of God’s love. Now, in Wm. Paul Young’s first nonfiction book, he invites us to revisit our assumptions about God—this time using the Bible, theological discussion, and personal anecdotes. Paul encourages us to think through beliefs we’ve presumed to be true and consider whether some might actually be false. Expounding on the compassion fans felt from the “Papa” portrayed in The Shack—now a major film starring Sam Worthington and Octavia Spencer—Paul encourages you to think anew about important issues including sin, religion, hell, politics, identity, creation, human rights, and helping us discover God’s deep and abiding love.

Book Synopsis Speaking in Tongues by : Felicitas D. Goodman
Download or read book Speaking in Tongues written by Felicitas D. Goodman and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2008-04-15 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speaking in tongues, or glossolalia, is practiced in many different religions around the world. Dismissed as meaningless gibberish by some observers, it has been the subject of only a few fragmentary studies. The work of Felicitas D. Goodman represents the first cross-cultural analysis of this enigmatic behavior, and she brings to her research an extensive background in linguistics and anthropology. Dr. Goodman's fieldwork included living with apostolic congregations in Mexico City, in the Yucatan with Maya Indians, and visits with a congregation in Hammond, Indiana. Her observations were preserved on a remarkable collection of sound recordings and films. For this book she presents a selection of conversion stories that highlights the personality structure and experiences of the speakers. A detailed analysis of the phonological and suprasegmental features of the recorded utterances show a surprising cross-cultural agreement. This led Goodman to believe that glossolalists speak the way they do because their speech behavior is modified in a particular mental state, often termed trance, into which they place themselves. In this light the glossolalia utterance is seen as an artifact of a hyperaroused mental state, or, in Chomskyan terms, as the surface structure of a nonlinguistic deep structure, that of the altered state of consciousness. Goodman describes the hyperaroused mental state as a neurophysiological phenomenon, as well as the associated patterns of movement, and the problems of waking from it. Goodman's diachronic approach yielded equally surprising data about the changes and the waning of the behavior over time. But, as she observes, "we have barely touched the edge of a very large area of inquiry." Her fascinating study opens a number of new avenues of research for anthropologists, such as the study of physiological states accompanying linguistic and ritual behavior.
Book Synopsis True Christianity & False Religions by : Lloyd A. Davidson
Download or read book True Christianity & False Religions written by Lloyd A. Davidson and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you really believe in the only true and living God? Are you tired of false religion and now hunger and thirst after righteousness? Are you deceived and not sure if you are a true Christian? Are you 100% sure that Jesus Christ is indeed alive? You may attend church or religious services but have you ever truly worshipped God? Do you know God for yourself? Did you know that you can be 100% sure you will spend eternity in Heaven the moment Christ enters your body? Is your fiancé or spouse a recipient of the 'Spirit of Truth' (in the Lord), so as to prevent you from ever being divorced biblically? Do you really know the truth and the whole truth about Homosexuality? Do you have divine permission to worship God? Did you know that even if you are confirmed or water baptized you cannot worship God in a church, in a cathedral, in a synagogue, in a mosque, in a temple or as you wish? He can only be worshipped in spirit and in truth with the 'Spirit of Truth', after being born of his Spirit through the atoning blood of Christ his Son. This powerfully inspiring book answers all those crucial questions according to Christ that any sensible person should know before attempting to worship the one and only true God. It also addresses many controversial issues that confront the cutting edge of Christian living in this evolving, secular world, including solutions to spousal abuse. Before Christ revealed Himself to me, I did not know if Heaven was real and I thought hell was just an illusion. However, after Christ revealed Himself to me, I discovered Heaven is real and hell is no joke. This book expounds to the core, pure religion, salvation and the imperativeness of a totally surrendered heart in seeking God. It offers to every person (without Christ) an opportunity to know God supernaturally and diligently exploit his power and love. Believing in God or Christ is not enough; you must also know them both supernaturally to make it into the kingdom of Heaven. These pages are filled with anointed, intricate, prolific, corrective, expository, edifying revelations (spiritual insights) and teachings that many Christian ministers have not had the courage, tenacity or conviction to address and discuss with clarity and implicit intrusiveness. Virtually, combined with a passionate desire to speak the truth always, it is the equivalent of the best (simplified) Bible translation for the purpose of personal Bible study, soul winning and revival you have ever laid your hands on. Read and adhered to 'for such a time as this', it will set your mind, body, soul and spirit on divine fire. The teachings and insights will also profoundly permeate your conscience, heart, mind and soul as you ingest every word. Cutting like a two-edged sword, it compels a person to experience the divine presence of the true and living God. This book is definitely the ultimate key to true worship and an urgent wake up call to all of humanity. Every person that believes in God ought to secure a copy of this book or present it as a gift to a non-Christian.
