Les troubles liés à l'usage des écrans apparaissent comme une problématique de plus en plus fréquente dans une société qui valorise les écrans dans tous les domaines de la vie.Matériels et méthodes : nous avons interrogé différents moteurs de recherche dont PubMed, PsycARTICLES et JAMA, à l'aide des mots-clés MeSH tels que screen related disorder, addictive behavior, screen time, videogame, substancerelated disorder, teenagers, adults. Résultats : chez le jeune enfant, le risque de l'exposition aux écrans est de le détourner des apprentissages cognitifs et relationnels essentiels, et donc d'altérer son développement et ses compétences sociales. Chez l'adolescent, le problème est tout autant celui du contenu que celui de la quantité. Chez l'adulte, les troubles liés à l'usage des écrans ont des similitudes avec les addictions aux substances psychoactives et met en jeu les circuits neuronaux du système de la récompense. L'approche de soins comporte de la psychothérapie et prend en compte les comorbidités actives. Le médecin généraliste a un rôle important de prévention et d'information sur les risques de l'exposition aux écrans. L'objectif n'est pas uniquement de limiter l'accès aux écrans, sauf chez les jeunes enfants, mais d'en accompagner l'utilisation et d'en prévenir les risques. Les règles de bon usage des écrans reposent sur une gestion saine, une utilisation constructive, un exemple positif et une surveillance du temps d'écran et des comportements s'y rapportant. L'amélioration de la pratique des médecins généralistes passe par une formation médicale continue et des recommandations claires.
