How many times have you sat alone somewhere just reflecting on the simplicity of lifehow blessed you are, from where you came compared to where you are now. Author, Elois Wilform-Malcolm, brings these everyday things to life. It will seem as though you are right there by her side, witnessing what she does in her own mind, seeing, feeling, understanding her point of view as she correlates biblical Scriptures into her reflections and how your understanding of Scripture can be a driving force for you own life. Meditations on Life and LivingBorn Out of Love for God will allow you to relive your past, reflect on the glory of your present and marvel at your future when you realize the joy, happiness, contentment and peace of mind you attain through a life with God. You will see how Scriptures are being brought to light through everyday life situations. Wait till you read catchy titles such as: Throw Down Your Rocks, The Fragrance of Christ, or Wake Up Everybody. You will find excitement in the directions each testimonial meditation will take you. Reading these meditation will bring about purpose for studying the Bible, which is not to know the Bible but to know God. FOCUSED Ministries, Inc. was birthed during a time of prayer. The name came as a result of two college students praying for direction and asking God how He could use them to change the lives of young people. FOCUSED is an acronym that stands for "Focusing On Christ Until Spiritual Excellence is Demonstrated" based on the Word of God found in Proverbs 4:25-27 and Hebrews 12:1-2. From its launch, Dr. Baker, the members of the executive team, and dedicated prayer partners set aside every Wednesday to pray and fast for FOCUSED Ministries, Inc. As the prayers continued, people were saying how blessed and encouraged they were by the prayers of such a diverse group of Christians whose singleness of mind and heart was to see God's will done in the lives of our youth. Dr. Baker wanted to preserve the weekly prayers as evidence of FOCUSED Ministries' dedication and love for the youth and families they would serve even though they hadn't yet met. FOCUSED Prayer Devotional is a compilation of more than 365 days of prayers on behalf of our youth, families, and the organization as they continue the work to share the love of Jesus Christ. FOCUSED Ministries, Inc. wants you to read and meditate on these prayers and encourage you to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ through your own prayer life. We are commanded to continue in prayer (Col. 4:2), trusting and believing God that what we ask for in faith and according to His will, it shall be done. FOCUSED on Him! God bless you!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Greater love hath no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13)""that is exactly what Jesus done for us. Jesus gave his life to pay the debt that we owed and could not pay, and he paid the debt that he did not owe, which was our debt to sin. Now that is costly. One Sunday while preaching, I heard God say, "Look to your left." I did, and there was some writing on the wall that said, "Your debt to sin has been paid in full: it was written in blood." I stopped, and I screamed. I read to the congregation what was written on the wall. Some tried seeing it, but they couldn't""they had to receive the vision that God had given unto me. The blood of Jesus paying our debt to sin is the costly anointing. Jesus made himself a curse to redeem us from the curse of the law. Jesus bore our sins in his body as he hanged on the cross; he bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. The writer of Hebrews said, "For we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities." That is costly. After writing my book, I Overcame by the Blood of the Lamb, I heard God say, "You obtained my anointing by the things that I suffered you to go through. I want you to title this book The Costly Anointing." There is nothing that can compensate for the shedding of Jesus's blood.

Book excerpt: Frozen In Time: A Collection of My Thoughts is a window into the mind of girl searching for love, her place in a world she doesnt fit and most importantly herself. You witness the struggle she goes through involving the ever changing dynamics of her family, the loyalty (and sometimes lack thereof) of friends, the ups, downs and confusion of relationships, and her perception of herself in comparison to what others see and desire her to be. As with life, Frozen in Time will take you on a roller coaster ride full of joyous highs and painful lows. I wrote this, not as a book in the beginning, but as a therapy to help me get through the most difficult of times in my life. I love to read and many authors have given me stories I relate to. Over the years I was encouraged by many to publish these thoughts for others to enjoy. My goal in this is to let people, who go through the same things I went through, know that they are not alone. Someone else in the world can feel the very pain or struggle you may be going through. There is hope.

Book excerpt: Eleven-year-old Samuel was born as Master Hackler’s slave, and working the Kentucky farm is the only life he’s ever known—until one dark night in 1859, that is. With no warning, cranky old Harrison, a fellow slave, pulls Samuel from his bed and, together, they run. The journey north seems much more frightening than Master Hackler ever was, and Samuel’s not sure what freedom means aside from running, hiding, and starving. But as they move from one refuge to the next on the Underground Railroad, Samuel uncovers the secret of his own past—and future. And old Harrison begins to see past a whole lifetime of hurt to the promise of a new life—and a poignant reunion— in Canada. In a heartbreaking and hopeful first novel, Shelley Pearsall tells a suspenseful, emotionally charged story of freedom and family. Trouble Don't Last includes an historical note and map.

More than ten years ago, Denise Barrow was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer--a transformational experience that inspired her to pick up her pen and begin writing daily encouragements to her friends and family. Denise's daily words are based on Bible scriptures, told vividly with compassion and unwavering wit, but intended to free us from "religion"--that organized system of beliefs, practices, and man's way of doing things--so that we can serve God and His purpose in our individual lives. In her inimitable book, Denise candidly shares her long and personal journey of recovery and how she not just talks faith but joyfully lives faith even in the face of difficult circumstances. Denise touches the soul, mind, body, and spirit of all who believe--regardless of religion--teaching, ministering, and evoking healing in all of us. Her daily words will prayerfully help you to value the gift of your life, inspiring love and forgiveness that will unite us all in God's purpose

Book excerpt: "Black Song" is a literary tribute to the power and beauty of the timeless musical tradition of Afro-American spirituals. The author charts the evolution and development of the Black spiritual, and presents hundreds of examples of the more than 6,000 remaining songs. This is the definitive history of a simple musical form in all its complexities -- music, religion, philosophy, poetry, and politics. The book's first part, "The Forge," presents the authentic "story of how the songs were hammered out." In the second part, "The Slave Sings Free," the author examines the creators and their communities, and interprets the meanings and implications of the songs that have passed into, and have become part of, our society. The development of the spiritual as a world phenomenon is traced in the final part, "The Flame." "Black Song" will remain in the literature of our musical, cultural, and social heritage as a fascinating reader and essential reference book. -- From publisher's description.
