If the average rate of increase in production in this section of about 10 per cent a year, which has taken place since 1920, is maintained until 1930, as seems probable, the average crop for the three years 1924 - 1926 of 11 million bushels (about tons), will have expanded to an annual average of perhaps 18 million bushels (about tons). If nothing unexpected happens to the pear industry, average national production may be in the neighborhood of 28 million bushels (about tons) by 1930, or about one-third greater than the average crop of about 21 million bushels (approximately tons) for 1924 - 1926.
