Book Synopsis Missed Treasures of the Holy Spirit by : Jeremy Corley
Download or read book Missed Treasures of the Holy Spirit written by Jeremy Corley and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-04-10 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume on the Holy Spirit, “Missed Treasures” designates the rich pneumatologies in the New Testament books and letters beyond Paul, John, and Luke-Acts. Depictions of the Holy Spirit in Matthew, the Letter of James, Revelation, and other books are analyzed and incorporated into the theological tapestry of New Testament thought. Another unique feature of this volume is its focus on the numinous presence of God in the sweep of Israel’s history; there are chapters on the Septuagint, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Wisdom of Solomon that trace Christian pneumatology back to its source, the Hebrew Scriptures. In short, this volume expands the scholarly conversation exponentially as it explores a complement of texts spanning the New Testament and reaching back into the Hebrew Scriptures. A lucid guide to the distinctive pneumatologies of the New Testament, this collection is must reading for all who would engage the dialogue between scriptural study and systematic theology.
Book Synopsis A Treasure of Sixty Years of Preaching by : Jim Thompson, D.M.
Download or read book A Treasure of Sixty Years of Preaching written by Jim Thompson, D.M. and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written for the glory of God. All messages may be used for preaching, teaching, and personal growth. The messages have been inspired by Our Precious Lord and, as such, may be used by all who worship Him in spirit and in truth. All scripture quoted is from the King James Version of the Bible. All references to God, as nouns and pronouns, are intentionally capitalized in respect to God the Father; Jesus Christ, His only Begotten Son; and the Holy Spirit. This may not be grammatically proper; however, this is proper in my heart. The messages contained in this work are a treasure of over sixty years of preaching, teaching, and studies. Each message was the gift of the Holy Spirit, who inspired and guided me in the preparation and preaching of the Gospel. It is my prayer that each message will be used for the glory of God and, in so doing, will be useful in bringing people to Jesus, revival in the hearts of believers, and growth in each one of God's elect. When the Lord Jesus called Simon Peter and Andrew to be disciples, He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matt. 4:19). After the resurrection of Jesus, He appeared to His disciples at the Sea of Tiberias as they were in a boat fishing and had come to shore after the obeying the orders of Jesus and had caught a large number of fish. Jesus asked Peter about his love for Him and then ordered Peter to "feed My sheep" (John21:16). These messages are an effort to accomplish these orders from our Master: to be "fishers of men" and to feed His flock. May the gracious blessings of Our Lord be upon you as you use this work for personal growth and feeding His sheep.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readers of the Bible know events on the Catholic Churchs liturgy have scriptural passages referring to them. Many, however, are only familiar with a few. One might be surprised at how many more are there for the reading. The Treasure of the Word: Commentary on Biblical Readings for Sundays, Feast Days, and Solemnities, Cycle B is a life-related meditation on the sacred texts within events of the Catholic Churchs liturgical calendar. Author Isidore Okwudili Igwegbes work is intended for everyone, from the layperson to church leader to those in the clergy. Beginning with Advent, each insight is based on his experiences teaching, leading, and breaking the Word of God with mixed Christian congregations in different countries and continents. Each chapter begins with the date and event, followed by a list of scriptural references. Igwegbes text satisfies human yearning for the meaning of the Word. It is an exposition of the good news within the good news, a prayerful sharing of the great secrethuman fate is Gods fate, and God is an imprudent investor who blesses his capital and his love on every person, everywhere, and every time. This book encourages Christians and all believers to realise they are the centre of Gods attention.
