This book was released on 2000 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Threee-dimensional transonic flow over a delta wing is investigated with a focus on the effect of transition and influence of turbulence stress anisotropies. The performance of linear eddy viscosity models and an explicit algebraic stress model is assessed at the start of the vortex flow, and the results compared with experimental data. To assess the effect of transition location, computations that either fix transition or are fully turbulent are performed. To assess the effect of the turbulent stress ansiotropy, comparisons are made between predictions from the algebraic stress model and the linear eddy viscosity models. Both transition location and turbulent stress anisotropy significantly affect the 3D flow field. The most significant effect is found to be the modeling of transition location. At a Mach number of 0.90, the computed solution changes character from steady to unsteady depending on transition onset. Accounting for the anisotropies in the turbulent stresses also considerably impacts the flow, most notably in the outboard region of flow separation.

This book was released on 2018-07-17 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A computational study has been conducted in which the CFL3D Navier-Stokes solver coupled with an algebraic and a one-equation nonequilibrium turbulence model has been used to predict the flow over a 65 degree delta wing at transonic conditions for Reynolds numbers ranging from 6 x 10(exp 6) to 120 x 10(exp 6) based on mean aerodynamic chord. Solutions obtained indicated that the computational method when used with the one-equation turbulence model predicts results that compare well with experiment for attached flow conditions. Comparisons with experimental pressure at separated conditions show that the computational method, even though primary flow-field features are predicted well, does not predict secondary flow features. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of an international conference on Numerical Methods for Fluid Dynamics held at the University of Oxford in April 1995. It provides a summary of recent research on the computational aspects of fluid dynamics. It includes contributions from many distinguished mathematicians and engineers and, as always, the standard of papers is high. The main themes of the book are algorithms and algorithmic needs arising from applications, Navier-Stokes on flexible grids, and environmental computational fluid dynamics. Graduate students of numerical analysis will find the up-to-date coverage of research in this book very useful.

This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the papers of the 11th Symposium of the AG STAB (German Aerospace Aerodynamics Association). In this association those scientists and engineers from universities, research-establishments and industry are involved, who are doing research and project work in numerical and experimental fluid mechanics and aerodynamics for aerospace and other applications. Many of the contributions are giving results from the "Luftfahrtforschungsprogramm der Bundesregierung (German Aeronautical Research Programme). Some of the papers report on work sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG, which also was presented at the symposium. The volume gives a broad overview over the ongoing work in this field in Germany.
