Notre proposition est d'appliquer, au niveau de l'entreprise, des principes issus d'une approche hybride, entre forecasting (tendances) et principled backcasting. Ces principes proposent des lignes directrices pour chacune des cinq dimensions du développement durable (politique, territoire, Homme, environnement et économie). La méthode développée s'appuie sur le processus stratégique (analyse, choix et déploiement) pour intégrer des dimensions complémentaires dans la conception de produit à travers le réseau interne de création de valeur de l'entreprise étendue. Deux trajectoires ont étés explorées : l'intégration de l'environnement (cas d'études) et du territoire (théorie) dans la conception de produit grâce à l'innovation organisationnelle portée par le renouveau de la gouvernance stratégique et opérationnelle. Cette recherche interdisciplinaire pose les fondations pour le développement d'une méthode permettant de supporter la transition de l'entreprise industrielle vers le développement durable à 5 dimensions, par l'intégration dans le processus de conception de produit de dimensions jusqu'alors peu ou pas exploitées.

Le rapprochement des disciplines et des techniques scientifiques dans l'abord des problèmes et dans l'étude des systèmes complexes devrait inciter à ce qu'un accent plus net soit mis sur des projets pluridisciplinaires développés entre plusieurs organismes de recherches ainsi qu'avec des universités et des entreprises. Cela devrait impliquer aussi une vision nouvelle dans les formations de l'enseignement supérieur, dans la politique des grands équipements, assortie d'une facilitation de la mobilité des chercheurs, tant au sein de l'hexagone qu'à l'extérieur. La France doit affirmer davantage sa participation aux grands " programmes-cadres " de l'Union européenne, qui ont déjà contribué au décloisonnement des équipes, même si l'Académie reconnaît l'urgence d'une simplification des procédures et la nécessité d'une intervention plus directe des scientifiques dans l'établissement et le suivi de ces programmes. Par ailleurs, il apparaît nécessaire que la communauté scientifique française prenne mieux en compte les enjeux sociétaux et les problèmes éthiques dans un contexte d'ensemble où l'image de la science perd parfois de sa force. Au-delà des propositions liées à chacune des disciplines traitées, les auteurs formulent des recommandations visant à adapter le système français de recherche/développement et d'enseignement aux nouvelles données scientifiques et économiques.

It is intended for researchers, teachers, students and professionals interested in territorial development. Pierre Gasselin, Sylvie Lardon, Claire Cerdan, Salma Loudiyi and Denis Sautier are the scientific coordinators of this book. They are geographers and economists at CIRAD, INRAE and VetAgro Sup, where they conduct research on the transformation of agriculture, food systems and territories in France and other countries. This book is the result of a collective research process involving 36 authors from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Burkina Faso, France, Japan, Switzerland and Vietnam.
