Book excerpt: Committed employees are key players in any institution and through leadership, set goals and objectives can be achieved. This is a descriptive correlational with comparative research that explored the relationship between leadership styles of level coordinators and the organizational commitment of the faculty members of level two PAASCU accredited and non-accredited nursing colleges; as well as the relationship of organizational commitment, leadership styles and the involved institutions' accreditation status. Data was drawn from 102 respondents using the Leadership Style Questionnaire (LSQ) and the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ). Using mean, standard deviation and fisher's exact test, results established significant relationship between transformational leadership style individual consideration, as well as transactional leadership style contingent reward and organizational commitment. Finally, the researcher recommends enhancement of leadership programs and the further advancement of the nursing profession.

This book examines leadership within schools, focusing on securing success within a challenging social and political environment. It explores the approaches to leadership adopted by four successful secondary school headteachers in a local authority situated in an area of high social deprivation and identifies the impact the headteachers of these schools have on staff, students and community. It analyses the key leadership strategies of these successful school leaders, strategies that can be deployed in all schools, and explores the links between leadership theories and leadership actions. The book goes on to examine how these strategies were actually implemented in a failing school in challenging circumstances and shows how other schools might benefit from such strategies and the insights on which they are based.
