Information about those processes can be traced through information technology, aggregated and analyzed and used for management decision-making. Still these possibilities are not fully recognized and realized. Aim of this work is therefore to examine the thesis that direct activity/process information must be taken into stronger account for management control and that the management accounting system must adopt the changing organizational and environmental realities by developing and implementing mechanisms to model the process perspective and integrating process information. The integration of process information enhances continuous improvement by providing up-to-date, and easy to understand and interpret measures on the local level that forces immanent response and leads to actions based on observable derivations from defined process objectives. After essential definitions about Management Accounting, Performance Measurement, and Business Process Management criticism on traditional performance measures is presented (chapter 3.1). Further, arguments that underpin the need to change the Performance Measurement system according to the changes that are implied by a process-based view on the organization are given and aggregation issues are discussed (chapter 3.2). It offers an in-depth understanding of how decision-making officials encounter and respond to structural contradictions in the asylum procedure produced by diverging legal, political, and administrative objectives. The study focuses on structural aspects on the one hand, such as legal and organisational elements, and aspects of agency on the other hand, examining the social practices and processes going on at the frontside and the backside of the administrative asylum system. Coverage is based on a case study using ethnographic methods, including qualitative interviews, participant observation, as well as artefact analysis. This case study is positioned within a broader context and allows for comparison within and beyond the European system, building a bridge to the international scientific community. In addition, the author links the empirical findings to sociological theory. She explains the identified patterns of social practice in asylum administration along the theories of social practices, social construction and structuration. This helps to contribute to the often missing theoretical development in this particular field of research. Overall, this book provides a sociological contribution to a key issue in today's debate on immigration in Europe and beyond. According to Kelvin, ‘When you can measure what you are speaking about and express it in numbers, you know something about it’. According to Anon, ‘You cannot manage what you cannot measure’. The Economic Value Added (EVA) framework developed by the Stern Stewart & Company is gradually replacing the traditional measures of financial performance due to its robustness and its immunity from "creative accounting". Fortune magazine has called it "today's hottest financial idea and getting hotter" and management guru Peter Drucker referred to it as a measure of total factor productivity. The traditional measures for performance measurement, suffer from some serious limitations which are the main reason that these traditional methods based on earnings can’t be used as a reliable measure of performance measurement. Hence, there is the need of new approaches for the performance measurement which takes stakeholder’s perspective into consideration and shareholders wealth into consideration. EVA is a better performance measurement tool and it has been proved in the research done on 10 companies in India. EVA has been compared with traditional techniques like ROI, ROE, EPS, NVA and MVA and the results are presented. Suggestive measures have also been given at the end and reference tables are also given. The research will e beneficial for academicians and people associated with finance.
